Support 2 Tarps with 1 High Tension Guy Line

Description

550 Cord is great for guy lines on tarps, in this example we show holding all the tension for 2 tarps with one 550 cord and a pulley style knot. Close ups show just how to tie it. NOTE: this video is on how to tie the knot, another video, the next, shows how to do the tarp set up.

because here today was willing to salvation I just want to quickly show you a little not set up that we use for this particular type set up here this is one of our combo configurations where we're using two of our standard size tarps connected together and then we're basically keeping the tension on everything by this one Ridge what is one tie outlying guideline that goes down but we have to put a lot of pipe put a lot of tension on it in order to tension everything in the back up with that so everything everything behind me is all wanting to pull that way so this has to counteract all of that with this one chord and so in order to do that we have to we have to put a lot of tension on a lot more than you can do with just a taut line or something like that so let me show you this for those of you who watched our video on i dono as a couple weeks ago or so putting high tension on ridge lines and stuff some people said they couldn't quite see how the knot was tied very well so what I do this I'm going to go over here and and I'll put the camera so that it's a kind of on a close-up so you'd be able to see that a little better

alright so I'm just going to take in a full of snot out of here sure yeah that's all I've got to have to really grab onto this good to hold it and then see if a beauty of it I can put a lot of tension on this nut and I can just pull it right out of that is even if its cold weather and you got cold fingers or whatever it's easy to pull that thing out of there so let me show you how you do this so first step is to take it like this so so that into the court is going to my upright pole for my holding my tarps up this end here goes down to my tent snake so all i need to do it just pull me a loop and what i'm going to do is turn the loop a half a turn turn it another half a turn turn it another half a turn so that's one and a half turns you can put your fingers in like that reach down in here to grab the cord that's under in underneath there and then just pull it and what this does is makes a figure eight and it's actually a half a turn past the regular figure 8 which just you know makes it possible for us to have a little bit more tension on it here makes it easier to untie it and then I just take the end that comes around my tent stake put it through that loop that's formed and now I can pull down on this I pull down on that as hard as I want to until I break the till I break this court or something you know and then all you got to do you can just put a you can put just a half hitch in there or something like that or you know you can whatever it isn't it doesn't really take much to doesn't really take much to hold this thing once you've got it in there because the pulley effect I mean it's enabling you to pull harder on the not to get a lot more tension like I can almost hear that like a guitar but because of that the knot you tie on the other side of it doesn't have to be it doesn't take very much for it to hold it either because of the effect of the pulley type set up with a not so so anyway that's all there is it's all there is to that very simple pull it down throw yourself some kind of a a knot in there you can even you can't even actually work a a sheet Bend into the end of that too but there you go right there that will hold this thing up really nice

Oh

you
