hey Perry peacock here with wilderness innovation and I'm gonna have to dub this first little short segment because I corrupted my audio file I'm not gonna record this thing over again yeah anyway bear with me for just about another minute anyway so in this video what I'm showing is I had recently done a done a overnight where I slept in the kind of a rainy a rainy night off and on rain and I slept there in my in my survival blanket with no tarp no poncho nothing cover me and I slept right here like under like against this tree has very comfortable very cozy I actually slept I only woke up a couple times during the night it's very very comfortable and what I want to do today is show you how to how to set this thing up for a nice cozy sleep you know it's good for overnight for taking an average is for resting get really nice and comfortable

so anyway here's what we do see this pine trees got about 12 inches of pine needles built up around its trunk and I kind of sloped around they're very Airy very loose and and what i'm doing here is kind of pull some of that away from the trunk i'm trying to make a flat area a seat area that's the flat and comfortable remove any kind of sticks that might be in there and then you just jump on there and try it out see I feel I feels really good anything at all bothers you fix it because it won't get better it's not gonna feel better after an hour this tree is really nice it's got just it's about the right diameter it's got no no protruding limbs or anything like that it's nice and smooth it's got a little bit of a lean back not very much because you don't really you don't really want too much just a tiny bit and so this is really nice very very good it feels feels great I can come into here I can kind of label my feet around a little bit and kind of I can kind of nest those in there right so it's comfortable for me so I've got a good situation right here and now so if I we're using my poncho in this situation well I just throw them I have my poncho on I'd do this I'd sit down I pull my arms inside just like I've shown a video I know six months or so let go on that I'd sit right here I'd be cozy as I could be but I want to show you you know just in case if you had a blanket like so you had a wool blanket or you have one of our survival blankets or something like that the rain and the water doesn't bother them that much and I can be out here I can be out here in the rain and still be very doable I can still keep warm and I can sit right here and be cozy and I can sleep through the night and believe me this right here I've slept in a what kind of a high-back camp chairs where you can kind of sort of recline sitting right here like this this is more comfortable than one of those chairs and I can easily sleep right here so what you want to do if you're using that like one of these survival blankets here you want to do is just wrap it around you I'm assuming enough if I wasn't worried about about temperature at all and I just throw my poncho over me if I was if it was a just a rain situation but you know we're into the fall here we're up you know about 9,000 feet right here and so you know you can get a little little cooler so we might need some thermal protection so that's where the blanket comes in what you want to do is you take this take the blanket here you want to get it over come out to throw my hat off here you want to get that over your head a little bit and then you want to do what I like to do is get a little bit off-centered so I have a little bit to wrap over me here and a lot on the other side then I'll pull it back around and wrap it like that now I'll just go ahead and I just go ahead and sit up here okay so you should wind up some a lot of times losing a little bit over your head if it's rainy you do want to have it over your head a little bit because even though this blanket is totally breathable it's not waterproof it does still shed a good bit of water water that does get in it wants to go to drain out to the ground so it's not an issue this thing is warm even when it's damp and even fairly wet so that's not really an issue with me if I'm concerned about thermal protection staying warm I'm not going to worry about it I could do this right here I can be just fine so so I wrap here around my left side I've got excess around this other side

and I can tuck this up you know however however I want to and I can be nice and cozy right here just like this and I can pull up over my head here I can just kind of pull it inside so everything kind of stays together and I can be just like this just lean my head back against the tree just a little bit so I can just leave leave my head right back against that tree right there just a little bit with the slight lean that the tree has and my very very this is very very very comfortable to sit on and I can easily sleep just like this all night long no problem at all and so that way that way I get my sleep I stay warm I get my rest that I need to recover if I'm in a tough situation and I didn't have to even try to go to the trouble of making some kind of a shelter or whatever you know if I didn't have a I had this way if I have this blanket with me or anything like that you know I could I can use this as a shelter and tell you though it's not may be late it's not the optimum obviously be kind of nice to make some kind of shelter in a frame or some kind of deal but you know sometimes you get a situation like this and maybe you're you're trying to get out somewhere and you just need to stop for a few hours and take a snooze hey this is very doable you can do it even in the rain and this way you don't have to go setting up any kind of other tarp or anything like that you just sit down take your snooze when you're done get up and head on down when you need the rest again just stop and do this again you can do this on the go without having to worry about setting up a bunch of camp or shelter anything like that so anyway this Perri peacock will halation just showing you a seat of Billy in the in the pines here which is really my one of my favorite ways it's very very very comfortable and and this time doing without any tart no poncho just using my my survival blanket I've done many times I've done many things here at this blanket in the rain sleeping in the rain and been bad just fine and just just cozy with this so have a great day enjoy your time outdoors like I do you know improvise how every can someday try yourself a seat of bivy just like what I made right here only took me as your silent took me a few minutes to make it took me longer to talk then to make it don't have a great day patio see I'm the next one
