Using AMSTEELBLUE Cord with our Poncho Hammock

Description

For hanging our Poncho/Hammock between trees that are farther apart or if the user is heavier, AMSTEELBLUE (Dyneema) cord is a great option. It is very strong, little stretch and very light.

I brought with me some Dyneema cord this is a sample from Sampson rope this is a M steel blue and this is called the black color it kind of looks more charcoal but what we've done here is we're going to make this available I've already carry the cord on a website in 100-foot Hanks or 20-foot Hanks but now we're making it available this is basically a 15 foot cord that we takin this is this is one in a figure eight like all of other cord and so what we've done is we put a we put about a 11 inch and I in here with about 11 inch berry so we got 72 times diameter approximately and we are M does taper down here so we're you know we're doing it all properly as we can or maximum strength this cords rated 2,500 pounds and and the the function of this is like your poncho if you set it up as a hammock if you have a couple trees that are far apart if you use parachute cord then you get a lot of stretch in that so between your hand between your hammock your Poncho's a hammock and your parachute cord sometimes if your trees are a little too far apart it's hard to start to get your hammock set up this court here has virtually no stretch to it and especially with just the weight of a person so we can substitute this for those parachute cord so it gives us the ability to pitch between white or trees and stuff this loop right here is what you drop down through the sleeve on your on your poncho and we'll show you that and then you just tied up to the tree just like normal and so this will this is another option so we'll be carrying this on the on the cord tab on our web page and we'll probably will also put a link to it on our honor poncho survival shelter page also okay so we've got one end already in here and then so here's our fears our sleeve a few sure you've already watched there it was before probably well I like to do I just take any kind of knife I have this little tiny so let's Army knife that I put an oversized a one inch I put a one inch ring on it because I just use it for a little bit of weight to drop down to do sleep so once i do that now one of the cool things about this Court is this stuff drops through the sleeve really fast parachute cord kind of it kind of hangs up this I mean it's not bad I mean but this is this rope was really this cord really slippery it's lets you just drop it in there just falls through I mean it's almost instant you don't have to do anything for it so that's what I do there then of course we just take the other end the free end of the cord here this is like I said am steel blue 8 inch 2,500 pound and so what we're doing here is we're so we come with that loop that we put in there you see the loop has 11 inches of Barry so it's actually here's the end of the berry clear out here so we're way into the way into the berry I've got a situation here where I'm farther between trees and I normally like to be when I pitch up so when i'm using parachute cord nylon has stretch the poncho has a little stretch to that's nylon the time you do all that you get all that stretch in there sometimes it's hard to keep your butt off up up off the ground if you're too far apart so what I'm doing is is taking advantage of the virtually no stretch in this am steel blue and so that will take care of solving the distance problem for me and I'll be able to hang this thing up and will be Just Peachy alright so so we're here i am i'm all pitched up and now my trees are well this is eight 9 10 11 I'm 16 18 18 feet apart on my trees and using this cord so I don't only stretch I have as in my in the hammock itself itself so it's works really nice it's a nice little option I still like to carry the parachute cord because so multifunctional this is a nice little upgrade to carry with you we're using with our using with our ponchos when you set off as a hammock this stuff is very light it's so light it will float on water I mean it's pretty it's pretty light cord you can just stick it in you can buy as an extra just stick it in your in your bag with your poncho and everything and then you know you can use the parachute cord you one you want or you could use this when you want that's a nice little option that we're offering just a little just a little way to you know do things a little bit a little bit better so you can see what I've done here is instead of taking another tarp as i just used another poncho as a tarp over my poncho as a hammock yes i'm using so i'm using to Pancho's here 14 a-14 a cover 14 a hammock obviously that's not exactly ideal because both of these are the same length so but I am slightly shorter on a hammock because I've got a little bit of a bow in there so it's a little bit shorter than the then the punch I'm using as a tarp and and I've got it pulled tight I'm using some using some of these prussic hitches prosek loops here to pull that tight and all I've done is tied out the center tab on the poncho pulled it out to a little bush here into a tree on the other side to kind of give me a little more room in the middle the front ends I'm just let the ends I just let hang if I need to I can pin those shut with a stick or a easy clip so if I wanted to close those two ends in I can do that so but anyway I'm pretty well set now ready for the night so do I perry peacock wilderness innovation are runnin LARP this is our personal air R poncho East called personal or poncho survival shelter set up as a hammock very comfortable very cozy and i'll be taking my to this thing that i enjoyed my sleepiness baby so anyway we'll catch on the next go around hope you have fun outdoors like i always do I get out every chance I can get and enjoying a little bit of had some snow off and on here this afternoon too and it's a it's a May fifteenth so little spring snow like to let me go get me a little bit of grub here over to fire I want to get this set up and shoot this video far it got dark so anyway adios
