The Snow Insulated Bed - Nice and Warm

Description

It's like building a debris hut out of snow. Fresh snow can be a great insulator with all the trapped air in it. Check out the gear used here Http://wildernessinnovaton.com

hey Perry peacock here today loving this absolutely stunning weather I love it it's snowed like a foot overnight it snowed about a foot during the day today it's going to snow about another foot or so through the night or early morning mid-morning maybe and then on through tomorrow this is just wonderful wonderful camping weather and I'm just going to make a I'm just going to make a quick little video here tonight just doing a little setup before this before the continuing snow through the night and because normally when I'm out and doing stuff I normally don't ever get a chance to do the preview kind of before the storm so although the store's been going we're going to do some more so let me show you we're not we're not that cold

we're like about 28 degrees so it's not it's not bad for temperature yeah and so we're not gonna we don't need that much thermal protection for this now one thing the snow is dry and it's dry and fluffy so it's very it's an excellent excellent insulator this is one of my favorite times to sleep out in the wintertime is when you got a snowfall and I like to just get out here and and just get under it all let the snow snow on me fall on me through the night but I love it if I get 6 8 10 inches of snow on me during the night my morning time that snow is such a good insulator that you don't even want to get out of bed it's just so toasty warm I'm right to the side of this picnic table what you can see the the snow it's to the top of the table right there that's today's snowfall what I'm doing and if I would have brought my snowshoes this would be even easier is I just want to pack me down a little spot here so I have to get terribly firmly packed but just to kind of take most of the edge out of it so I'm going to do that and then I'm going to put my sleeping gear in here now I've got one of my tarps this one's a multicam this one's a little nasty cause I used it last spring overtop of a campfire for several days so it's kind of smoky so I'm going to put the put it inside out put it inside out just to keep just to kind of keep the smokiness off of everything not the smell the color so now so I've got this right here I've got a one of our survival blankets here with me so I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna fold it in half

and lay it in here like that okay now I've also got a long fleece liner and so I'm gonna do so I'm going to lay on those two layers the fleece liner layer will go next and then I've got my poncho here and I'll put that over the top of me and then I'll in turn exit through the front end here and now I want to cover this over before I get too much snow in here so now I'm covered over and in fact I'm gonna kick a little snow here cut it down here on the foot end just to kind of seal the foot in down so so now I'm good and I just wear my clothes to bed I've got a liner Jack if I'm going to be talking more about here it at some point okay so I'm so I'm situated here I've kicked a little snow on the foot end and I've still got my six feet or so and I got a couple feet of overhang out the top which that's what I want because I want that to kind of come down so the storm doesn't come in on me and then I'll get in this thing and I'll get into this thing and go to town on it and it'll be it'll be nice and lovely and they would get snow like this through the night I'll likely have at least six or eight inches of snow on top of me and it'll be sweet so we'll see how it goes from here and anyway I just wanted to put this little deal up as you know this is this is something you can do quick and dirty it's not the ideal I could take some more time and build me a platform and you know bust off a bunch of these branches and stuff like that and build me up a kind of a lattice work of under structure and stuff like that but since we're not that cold in the holding of high 20s you know I'll be just fine like this especially with a nice layer of snow over me in fact when I go to bed if it's not if there's not enough snow then I may kick some of this snow here because it's it's so

it's so light and fluffy I can kick some of this over here and let it be an insulator already and this this one of the warmest ways you'll ever sleep it's just amazing very very very nice anyway so I'm going to run back down the road this up the street from my house here five four miles so there's a run back down there I'm going to run this video and then then I'll come back up to sleep tonight and then we'll do another that we'll work on doing another tomorrow or the next day however soon I get around to it

anyway Perry peacock wilderness innovation loving this beautiful outdoor weather the snow fantastic I'm hoping we get three feet of snow in two days it's going to be wonderful just a fun fun time

you
