Canopy Bug Net - How to Tips - Use without a hammock - Shelter

Description

Our Made in USA gear available at http://wildernessinnovation.com The Canopy Bug net was designed to work with a hammock for all in one rain and bug protection. In this video I show how to use it with a raised bough bed instead of a hammock. We made a line of ponchos that can be used as hammocks, or tarps, or chairs, etc. We have a whole system built around our ponchos which is called a Poncho Shelter System. The Canopy Bug Net is part of that system.

hey Perry peacock here with Holderness innovation I'm I'm up here today just shown a little bit more about our CBN our canopy bug net and this time I've pitched it over one of our raised bow beds as you can see so you're up off the ground nice and comfortable boughs for padding underneath and I've got my and I've got my axe I've got my under quilt for my for my poncho or hammock I've got it on here as my blanket and is very nice so I've got a so I've got rain shelter overhead bug net all around very nice so the way this bug net is designed to work and I wasn't very clear at all about it last night but you see there's no zippers in it there's no snaps buckles nothing like that my intention was to make a bug net that's basically a curtain a drop down a drop I call it a drop bug net but like a curtain is what you can think of it is it's hanging down like a curtain and I'll show you a little more details we got the corners anchored on this thing but we're using a shock cord on the tent stake here and so the idea is when you want to go into here because we're using shock cord we can we can pull on it like this so to get into it I just lift it up I just get into it and then I just let it hang down and I'm good to go you can stake it down even more if you want to by using easy clips there's out that sort of thing and to get back out just a matter of doing that right there so when I entered exit you see this this shock cord here on our tent stakes I used kind of a golden colored one just so you can see the difference where our stakes are black but maybe this comes standard on our stakes that you get and you see that thing will give quite a bit here and when you pull one of those on each end and you're ten feet long on your bug net why it makes it very simple and you watch see how I see when I get in and out just raises up and when it's done it just pulls it back and that works very nicely it's very easy to do get in and out I'd I'd much rather they'd much rather pick this thing up and duck under it going in and out then have to undo a zipper all the time I hate zippers especially outdoors it seems like they always I don't know they give you a problem when you Italians when you don't really need the problem like in the middle of the night you know you got a you got a bailout to go to the bathroom or something you just jump out flip this thing and go you know it's sitting there fumbling around a zipper that might have caught or trying to tell that kind of stuff just dive out go do your thing dive back in bed you're done it's simple but I can because this because the canopy is or the bug net is a drop-down a curtain bug net you know whatever I do at the top is fine I can position the top up or down wherever it needs to be to work best for me and you see I have got a ton of room inside of here I mean I reach my hands all the way out here and I still got you know a couple feet on each end here literally I do and so I got plenty of space in here I got 4 feet of width front to back so that gives me a nice little nice little setup right here alright so this is the this is the port to allow you to hang your hammock inside of here and so basically what this is is it's it's a series of overlapping flaps that allow you to that allows your cord that you use for your hammock to change positions up and down as you get in and out or whatever and it will close

and it will close right back up so I can pitch my hammock maybe like this and when I get into it it sinks down a little bit I'm still fine I'm still good in here so this this port right here is what allows us to to be able to adjust our our hammock and that sort of thing inside of the shelter and that's how we penetrate to the outside this is actually an upgrade from the first video where we had just we got it just a single overlap now we have a triple overlap or Wella it's a triple it's a three layer it's a three layer series right here that keeps everything closed in four for your ends with the hammock is so here's another little deal I've used a stick that still got a little bit of springiness to it and I've attached that to the to the ends here to attach that to the to the tie outs there on the end of the canopy and I just cut it down to the right length and then and this set up here of course I'm using an a-frame on this end a tree on the other end and and so what I did is once I got the other end tied off I came back over here and I put this in there that way I'm pulling tension this way on it and and that really works nicely for you know for holding this in without needing to put some other I don't see I don't have any other tent stakes or cords or anything coming off of either one of these I just have my cords coming here so I don't even have this thing tied off I could I could tie a lashing there and there if I wanted to and you know and of course if I did that I could hang something on here I could I could actually build a little table kind of thing or a rack right here or something if I wanted to but you know I just wanted to show you a little just a little gadget

now I've I've showed these I don't know several times and making these little making these little ends like this in fact maybe I'll shoot another real quickie video on that just that alone of course as you can see I still have two more tabs that I can pull out on if you know if the weather's a little worse or whatever want to just tie it out a little tighter fun ties out a little tighter and I can pull those two out if I want to as well but I typically don't use any more tabs that I have to because I'm lazy now one more thing that I want to show you is if you're out here and we call this a canopy bug net for four for a reason

and and that is because the the bug the bug net is part of it but it's also a rain canopy or shade canopy or whatever you want it to be but what I want to show you is I can use the canopy without the bug net now the bug net doesn't zip out or anything like that we we don't like zippers that much I mean I know they're okay but seem like they fail when you need them the most all right so anyway Harry peacock wilderness innovation just showing you a couple more features of the canopy bug net I really like it it's kind of a nice alternative it is dedicated to this one shape I mean it's going to be a canopy like this no matter what now you could put it low you could put a high but it is a canopy so it's not like our tarp est series of tarps that can be made into 30 to 50 different shapes so so it is dedicated but it works nice for a raised bough bed like this or it works well for a hammock and they are not spraying primarily what its intended for you could also use it like this without anything in here just put some camp chairs in here drop the bug net down and you could have a place to sit and chat and be out of the bugs and have a canopy overhead so you know there's there's actually a number of things that can use be is for but it was designed for the hammock or to be used on a raised bough bed like this so enjoy your time in the woods I always do I'm so excited about this canopy bug Natick I can't hardly stand it but I really like it you know it's I just like it simple it's easy to use and you've got several different things you can do with it and then it is top quality made in the US and but enjoy it like I say enjoy your time out have a great time use some use some of our gear if you can get some nice stuff and I think you'll be happy with it so take care have a great day I'll see you out in the woods somewhere maybe if you ever get out into central Utah I'm here every week
