Doan Magnesium Lights Tire Rubber

Description

One of the advantages of the Doan over all the spark rods is that you can vary the heat energy by scraping more or less magnesium as needed for the task. A marble size pile will start hard tire rubber. See the Doan and the Doan in our Fire Starter Kit. http://wildernessinnovation.com

hi perry peacock here with rollers innovation showed you one more thing about the the dome magnesium fire starter that's in our fire starter kit and show you something that you can do with this that you can't do with most other things then that's just another trick in the back as far as if you have this kit just shows you that much better off if you have something else what I'm going to do is I've got we have a dome magnesium stick in here alright let's say you're say you're out somewhere and you're stranded you don't have any good materials get a start fire start with you got a spare tire are you find one by the road like this thing's just hammered piece of junk so what you can do your down fire starter you can come in here and just take your pocket knife and start cutting start cutting a little strip out of here rubbers kind of sticky so much you got enough to work with then just pull up on a little bit I'll make your knife slice through it you take that little chunk right there now we'll we'll use that to start us a fire one nice thing about this is even in the wind this thing will burn pretty well even a good pretty good breeze and you get some like this started you could get the whole fire started the whole tire started if you wanted to and that'd be a great signal fire you know how black tires burn all right we've got a piece of rubber here script a bunch of magnesium shavings here and the rubbers right next to it now we're going to throw a spark into their get this thing ignited and still we have here alright so you see right there there we go we've actually ignited we still got plenty of magnesium left like that we ignited this piece of rubber right here so right there I stood luck i still got magnesium left here but I've got this rubber ignited that's this is just like 11 little knob cut off of a tire with my pocket knife so it works great another use for the dome magnesium fire starter alright so let's say here you know out mountain biking or your wherever you broke down you can just take take your inner your tube or your bike or whatever if you need to just take that slice slice that like and slice that like so right there and you can just go ahead and get that started I like to I like to slice it lengthwise to just so I have an edge to work with here now let's just show you you know lighten that up alright I've got about a little pile here something like that right there now we're going to strike that off strike that with me let the picture a little bit we're going to strike that off right there and will light our our rubber inner tube with it I just get this thing ready and here we go a little something in there now the easiest way is just touch it like that and what happens is some of that very hot magnesium just instantly sticks to that rubber and you as you can see we have fire no problem there very easy you know if I had something like this I could I could use that as an assistant to help me get something going or you know if I was having a hard time or whatever there you go the dome magnesium like just a fire steel or something like that you're not going to get something going like this it's one of the advantage of having the dome is that this thing years old but one of the evangel having the down is that you have you have your tinder right here you just scrape the magnesium shavings and then put that into your other material whether it's rubber or sticks or bird's nest or you know shredded bark whatever it is and being you got it going on here so weather conditions are tough or easy you got it with the down and it we have it in our fire starter kit you
