alright i just wanted to show you my rig here just for the heck of it and trying to film this by myself not knowing what the camera sees let's give this a shot so I'm going to pan down here a little bit hopefully and what I've used is a I've got my off-road survival kit so I've got all my essentials with me up here tromping around in the snow and rather than use the shoulder step I just used a pisa I think this is 1 inch poly rope it's kind of a saw a very soft rope and I just tied it through I just tied it through the d-rings here and just wrap it up around my neck and and all that and so I strapped my survival kit on there i strap my nalgene water bottle on I've got my camera case and I've got my my wilderness fire starter kit it's got a d-ring up here so I got all that tight end i'm using a couple of carabiners and stuff like that so say I me that's very comfortable to you so I just up here early morning tromping around snowshoeing and got a snowstorm just starting to come in some flakes are starting to fall again here supposed to snow all day and into the night but anyway I just wanted to show a little a little bit of my carry options here hello this perry peacock with wilderness i'm up on a little hiking excursion here this morning early before work is getting ready to head back down and get ready and I'm up here and some some snow it's about putting a half two feet of powder here and certain area is this one area I met right now it's got a couple inches a crust on top and I just been breaking trail snowshoe up through here and some areas you know where it's kind of a north-easterly exposure there's close to three feet in places or it's never melted or anything or compacted much I wanted to show you in snowshoeing on some of this terrain it's the snow underneath the crust is so powdery that there's no you know cleats or anything like that there's no traction really so this notion you have to try to kind of break through the crust a little bit and have to kind of stomp in a pass i'm going to try to see if i can shoot that here I don't know okay we're going to look down here I'm going to try to do this okay coming up coming up right through here if I just step down right there I'll slide down the slope here because it's kind of kind of steep as you can see so I'm going to do is as I step down I'm going to step kind of kind of shoving the edge of my snowshoe into into the right there and step down firmly and where the snow is real powdery underneath you have to kind of do a pause step like say on that when I just pause just a second pause just a second pause just a second there kick in here it's a little steeper right there and pause and even at that I still I still slid some the nature of the snow is so so loose here like they've been warning a lot of avalanche danger which I can understand all right just a few more here now this I like to really kick in and down into it a little bit there we go I'm following a little bit of a deer track in here really need to have somebody with me to film this stuff all right kick it in kind of stomping down wiggle the snow a little bit and when I get on top of some of this brush like that I just try to step on it it will kind of give a little more flotation to you and it doesn't trip you up that later so you can see I'm just kind of stomping in like the deers left a little track here little skit now I got it and climbing and I'm on a steep kind of a sidehill with the northern exposure here but notice I'm just stomp in shuffle just a little bit and pause and incidentally if you're breaking trail why that's a that's a good way to do it too because the people that come along behind you I'm gonna flip around here people to come along behind you they have a good trail to follow so anyway I got to turn around go back get back down to work here but anyways just a quick little flick on kicking in on the powdery side hills and snowshoeing it's a lot of fun up here I love to come up and just get away from it all so till next time perry peacock wilderness innovation
