you

hi guys more got today is the first video in my 10 things you can do with a wool blanket little miniseries that I wanted to do so before we start I wanted to talk a little bit first about why I really want to do this little miniseries things I really like more blankets I find them really really versatile I know my mate Dan over at Silverwood silver wolf bushcraft I thought linked up to his site really cool site but he's not a fan of the me thinks it's too heavy

etc etc and that the only redeeming feature of them is that the the fire retardant policies and we've had quite a lot discussions and disagreements and Fantom between those but I actually disagree with them I think there's more to it than that obviously it is wall it's a natural fiber natural fabric which means that if you sat around the fire with it there's no way of it catching fire or getting a lot of burn holes in it that's a natural quality of all wool is a hollow fiber animal fur which makes it a very very warm really insulating and it's I think it's quite lightweight I don't think there's any additional weight with it oh this is a little bit more weight than just your usual and closed-cell roll mat but I think the first third of it more than makes up for that also another great thing about wall blankets is even when they're wet they will initially that will keep you warm when the work was a lot of modern synthetic fibers won't do that but I don't know of any modern fibers that will keep you warm when they are wet because they actually lose the heat from it of course sheep and creatures like that have evolved to stay warm outdoors and quite harsh environments and the fur is what does that for you so the first video we're gonna do today then we're showing you how to double your sleeping bag and use it properly and effectively as a sleeping bag it's not as simple as just wrapping yourself into it so I'll show you now so what I've done here is I've spread the blanket out pretty wide it's quite okay where it is at the moment because it's nice dry ground obviously if it was wet weather really cold weather you'd have something else on there I usually bring a second more blanket double that over and stuff it below a leaflet and that makes a really good kind of natural base for and then the

you can just totally push away and you store with your blanket and there you go that's good to go but today it's just flat on the floor just for the purpose of the video so what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to get onto this blanket between two of the diagonal corners of all the longest points a rectangular blanket so I want my feet in one corner and my head and the other the reason for that fee is I'm going to bring this corner just up and over my feet not too tightly so I've got a bit of a room to move in there so that is already I've got one layer over my feet and then the next thing to do just bring this corner over just like so and then do the same with the other corner and I've now got three layers of wool around me okay tuck that underneath I've got plenty of movement still in there it's not going to come undone because the wall it's not a synthetic fabric so it will kind of grip to itself almost like velcro and then this last corner just here for myself in a little bit more acts as my pillow and if I really want to I can pull it over my head let's go bring these two bits up and I'm in that nice and securely and I'm not going to get cold it's actually really comfortable on this ground so yo that is how you use your wall blanket as a sleeping bag I can get my arms out there nice comfortably sit up in it it's fine it's a little bit nice to sleep in back to Pilate sleeping bags have a tendency to fall down on you view trying to sit like this and also to mess around with the zip to get out of it all I have to do is simply get myself out now you will notice I kept it all quite loose while I was in there and that's really important because if it's really tight there's no kind of it's called debtor there's no air in there and it's the air that warms up it's the other keeps you warm this just insulates that in Syria from the exterior and I've slept like this a few times mostly I'm going to admit it's been kind of the milder season so spring summer autumn and early winter and I've been absolutely fine it's really comfortable really warm and the way that I've just shown you fold it up it doesn't keep sliding off here and it works as well you've got a sleeping bag inside as well folding up in that way stops its sliding off the sleeping bag you just try and chuck it over yourself in the sleeping bag it does have a tendency to slide off and you get really cold bits there you go that's number one thing that you can do with a wall blanket thanks for watching guys
