Horses Hoof Fungus (Fomes Fomentarius)

Description

In this video Fozz of Forrester Bushcraft takes a look at the horses hoof fungus. we take a look at how to identify it and the challenges involved in collecting it!

The Horses Hoof fungus can be used as a very effective tinder in fire lighting and can be processed in a few different ways, from using it raw through to making amadu which we we shall be taking a look at in later videos.

The horses hoof fungus can be found throughout the northern hemisphere on dead birch stands, though further south this fungus can also grow on beech and occasionally oak.
