you

hi guys so got another really useful fungi for you here it's pretty common one in fact it's a very common one it's one I see the most that I recognize and this is the birch polypore razor strop fungi or its latin name is the pit of porous Bechtel illness really really useful fungus dead easy to identify and petty farms bachelors better them birch tree only grows on birch trees like can grow on them whether they're alive or dead I mostly see them on these kind of dead standing kind of rotten rotten trunks for the most part but you do find them on like logs and things have fallen and sometimes when they're quite young they're kind of remain rolled up and they eventually open out into this kind of bracket shaped fungi that you can see here so these are quite old ones this one you can see here is pretty it's pretty rocks or mushy on Elise that's not really much use to me but these are quite old they stay and they go brown when they're when they're aged but they stay white for the most part on the top here these are quite useful to have a variety of uses so I'm going to take one of these but I'm first of all I'm gonna go through the uses of this so the use that i'm gonna be using this this for is i'm gonna be using half for one of these futebol use as a strop for my knife when it's dry so we'll do a video on that just a dead short one but it has to be drive through its ricardo today and it can also be charred to make tinder so again that'll be a kind of separate video I do this is the ID video so relieved identify they kind of grow in these large kind of kidney shaped brackets which are white and rolled up when they're young and as the AIDS they open up and turn round the much thicker at the point of attachment here and that's why I'm going to try and break this off whoops and drop it and the underside of this and the camera will not pick it up you can only just make it out with your eyes but they're really white underneath just putting that close so they're really really white underneath you can see it's just glaring the camera that I think you might be able to just about make out some of those pores if I bring it closer but my camera isn't great at focusing on things but I will take some decent pictures of this to throw up on my Instagram my tumblr or my written blog of ever get around to actually writing in which I'm sure I will and but yeah let's just cut this open and have a look to a regal a camera so you can see what I'm doing I guess it's pretty cramped worry I'm had some pretty thick undergrowth so wrong a dismal look very quickly cut open this urn I'm going to cut this in half you can see it's really soft fungi but it goes rock solid like really rocks I like a piece of wood when it's dry so I'm just going to cut through it carefully because i want this nice smooth flat edge weights to be used as a strop so i'm just gonna cut through seat cuts through really easily and the inside it's pretty meaty see here okay so it's in it's inedible it's not deadly or poisonous or anything it's just it's just totally inedible according to my book that I have it's bitter and tough making it inedible and to be honest I don't think it's going to do you stomach any good but I'm not an expert on edible mushrooms and more about the ones that are useful so this is PIP horas bechtle in a really handy little fungi and in the next couple of days or so I will be filming a video on how to use this as tinder and as a strop for your knife thank you for watching guys you
