hello everybody and welcome to another video in today's video I'm going to be taking a look at this fantastic little neck knife and then offered at craft lab knives I have to say I've been using this for just under three years and over three years in two months time and it has absolutely become one of my core pieces of equipment if you're a regular viewer and you've watched a lot of my videos you will see me wearing this quite a lot you'll see me use it in some little carving project from some of the other videos so I thought I'd go through it and have a look about why i like this knife so lunch first of all let's take a bit of a look at the knife itself the blade is 1.25 inches and it's made from 01 tool steel hardened to approximately 58 on the rockwell scale the grind on it is a scandinavian style grind or ask andy grind at bevel which means it's very very easy to sharpen in the field and I think the Tang comes in roughly the same length as blade into this town I don't quote me on that I'm not a hundred percent sure the handle I think this one is red deer but it's available in a variety of different handles I actually bought this from then in person three years ago at the bush crushed show and he allowed me to don't have a look at them and see which one I like the feel of most in my hand obviously the natural thing so the handles aren't all the same but I really like this going to look a little bit later on wire like this this kind of handle this kind of natural ergonomics of it the blade is stamped with then offered sort of logo just the top here on one so I really not finally stamped in she's a nice little finishing touch the handle is all bevel nicely around here so that's nice to use nicely finished you know know know kind of rough edges on it and the top of the blade has a rounded top I really like this feature we're going to talk a little bit about that later on we talked about why i like to use this knife the sheath is made by Louis offered and i believe it is three millimeter veg tan veget on leather which is stacked up it looks like there's about four layers in the sheath here it's all hand-stitched using what i think is wax cotton so a really sturdy sturdy stitching around here stamped with the lowest offered symbol on the front here and also on the back hand dyed hand finished all that kind of stuff nicely beveled edges on the outside just to finish it off and we have got two additional holes at the bottom end of it at the kind of opening end so you can if you want to you can take a be the neck sling off and have its of carried sideways if you prefer it that way I prefer it dangling straight down with the point face and down the neck strap is genuine 511 paracord usually supplied in a color that suits the shoot that you've got and it's finished off of this nice adjustable fisherman's knot so you can have it at whatever length you want it to be I can to keep it reasonably short inside the sheath what I really like is there's quite a strong rare-earth magnet in there so even though you've got the friction the leather which would hold the knife in pretty suitably I think you've got that added security of just having that that nice strong magnet gently fitted somehow on the inside so I expertly fitted some running inside so yeah overall build quality absolutely absolutely stunning all handmade all hand-finished a lot of care and attention types of details to make sure that this is a quality piece of equipment so imagine some of you guys and I thinking what why would I carry such a small knife and our people tend to like big knives because they look cool and but actually carrying a small knife like this has a variety of uses so you've got your standard uses such as like you know chopping bits of paracord or you know making little cut two in there with a nice quickly accessible knife when you don't need to be messed around kinda get your big knife out it's clean and it's controlled so you know the certain pastor I'd rather not be using a businase well then being simple things like this put a piece of paracord I'd much prefer to use a smaller life of that this because it's easier and just that is so much easier trying to get the knife off my belt so you see the difference in size between the two knives and this is my my belt knife and this is my little neck knife there is a big difference in the size there and what I also really like about this knife is the way that it fits in your hand but like natural curve so I can really control that using these back fat fingers these things that little thumb cut and that is why i like this rounded top on it this rounded top is absolutely fantastic for carving because you don't get that blister than you don't that those pressure points the same because it's really nicely finished off at the top there well you can also do again using the shape of this this handle here this slight curve in the in the antler is you can get right up on this plane and use it more like a pencil so I can get right in to do some real fine fine carving on this reasonably safely the fact that it is such a narrow blade I'm not sure what the width of this blade is I forgot to check before coming out to shoot this video but the fact that it's so narrow means you can get a really fine razor edge on it and I really do mean a razor edge I mean this is a fantastic life I've used it for sort of proponent a little bit of small game and it just gets through everything honestly it's like on existing something it's fantastic it's really great for those fine tasks around camp or the Cardinal you wanted to put detail into things and again that other one said it's very quickly accessible and if you need to you can just tuck it away and there you go it's nice to secure it's not moving around under my shirt there and one concern that I know people are going to have I can feel you getting ready to type work is or you don't worry about you're going to fall and land on that point nope I'm not worried about that it's not going to happen I've take a couple of fumbles in this knife and that's pointing down for me to fall that's going to have to come all the way up so you know all the way up to get to my my face the likelihood of that happen it is so low because if I'm falling down this is falling and with me when you're hauling stuff tends not to force spots which is what that would need to do if you're really concerned about that put it on sideways you've got the auction to do that just check my notes to make sure I've not missed anything here no that is it so that is the field knife or the neck knife from been offered a craft lab crap lab nagy man that is hard to say I think it costs around 62 english pounds so might seem quite expensive but believe me I acquired this almost every day for three years just number three years it is a core piece of equipment i absolutely love using it it's expanded lines which makes me to sharpen its lightweight it tucks away is quickly full access it's not going to fall out of this she's easy I can pull quite hard on that before it comes out and even if it's just come slightly out there you go one of the things that I have done with this in the past if I'm using there between a couple of knives it's not the best idea but it works for me if I don't want to be messing around putting straight back in the sheath if you're careful with it and get used to it you can just kind of stick it on do what you're doing come back to your life stick it back on and you're good to go very very very nice piece of equipment so you go feel nice then offered if you have enjoyed this video please consider meet with consider supporting me on patreon I hope you've got something from it please do get over and check out Ben's knives you make some fantastic stuff and please like share subscribe comment and I will see you all in the next video thank you all for watching it's fantastic
