hi guys got another kit review for you today and today what I'm gonna be reviewing is one of my fake at pieces of kit okay and it's the DD camping hammock which is this okay so start off with this is the most basic well one of the most basic rave of the DD range hammocks and that said it's actually fantastic I've used this all kinds of weather I've used it I've been using it for good for years now I think I can find very very little fault with this throughout couple drawbacks to using the more and more basic range but I'll talk about those a little bit later on once I've got this set off but first off what I'm going to do is talk about the specifications of this okay so weighs seven grams which is literally nothing it's so light I tend to carry this around in my day vibe just in case I decide if I want to walk or whatever I want to spend the night out I can just shove this up really quickly in conjunction with the smaller tarp I have from DD which is also very very light and if you really want to you can actually get to pack up a small and I've got it here but I've never really found a need to do that this is pretty small anyway the length of this it's two point seven meters long and it's one and a half meters wide so collect claim your space and for even the biggest person for me that's fantastic because I'm only little only five for odd it's made from nylon which isn't obviously it's not a natural natural product but it's very very hard wearing it very very durable and like I say I have put this through its paces and it's literally no big answers seem being worn yet and it's just a little bit Robbie because I've never felt the need to wash it and include it with the hammock it's also ten meters of thick flat webbing which helps it to go around the tree which we'll talk about a little bit more later on

as always with DD stuff it comes in the stuff sack here which is perfectly suited absolutely no trouble at all getting this back into it as you found with some tents sometimes you struggle to get the size right pack it back in the bag

DD range stuff never an issue they're just there ever so slightly bigger than they really need to be able to makes it really

easy to get stuck them DD's are fantastic company to buy from the price ranges are absolutely fantastic when I start out doing this stuff I was really working on a on properly a shoestring budget and I still managed to buy a deal eat R&D knee hammock for under fifty pounds I think in the end it was this this hammock cost me at the time of buying get a few years ago was 25 pounds suspect the price may have gone up a little bit since then I'll get the proper places for you down there on the descriptions of video and everything all the full specifications which I carry kept things wrong on the videos but yeah do you have looks absolutely fantastic

even though higher range gear is still within most people's price range you know they're not they're not taking the MIT with it a really good price in terms of delivery and service of this stuff everything I've ever ordered off the internet has arrived within two to three days orbits that's gonna be a little bit longer they're wanting to get stuff shipped overseas really friendly come to work with they listen to you if you're doing videos and stuff they tend to even stick them up on your on their website I need to get mine my not the fantastic computer work we've also got a little bit or the odds and ends in the sort of boss craft and survival range okay so I'm gonna start by getting this out now so just go create out comes out really really easily just by like you can see the bag usually I would hang the Bible book because I'm already in review I'm just going to stick it with my other stuff so this is the webbing that it comes with I'm just gonna untie that as I use it in a day does 10 meters of this stuff a little bit close for you it's good flat webbing it's really really strong and that that because it's flat that really helps to bind your Hamlet to the tree because it actually uses friction to tie this up which you can see on one of my other videos now when your hammock arrives it won't be once look like this this is actually spread out like that it's all you need to do when you get it it's just punch that up and then it starts to make the hammock shape when it arises looks quite odd cuz it's just a rectangle of fabric or so it seems once you've got it or can you've sat in it a couple of times the shape really starts to come out okay so a couple of other really good things about this at this point which I've just been talking about the bit that bunches up this is where most of the stress pressure is gonna be on this Hamlet so one thing that DD have done which is really really handy I'm not sure whether the camera will pick this up but I will get some pictures the seams are all triple stitched so that seam isn't gonna rip it's really really not going to rip even with the heaviest of people in there that's going to take a lot of pulling apart it's also I think it's also taped as well inside everywhere else all our seam to double stitch even the bits that don't take any pressure or stress so for example in this one there's there's a zip here it's cooking you can cocoon yourself in that book I'll show you that once it's pork what other things are worth noting laughter before I put it off I think that's about it before I put it up so what I'll do is not stop filming there quickly throw this up and then talk about it a little bit more in detail about how to use this product now I'm not going to film putting this up because I've already done a video on that if you're unsure of how these things go up if you go onto my channel and have a look for how to set up a basic tar and hammock camping system all informations in there and if you want some more detail just drop me a message got me a comment or a video reply or whatever and I will do a really more detailed video on how to actually put this up so I'm gonna get up now and then we'll talk a little bit more okay so that is the that's the hammock settle it says on the website the Divi website that it takes it can go up in about minutes personally I found that to be a little bit of an optimistic time it takes me about two to three minutes to set this off but I do like to take my time with these things and fiddle out about a little bit just to get things perfect so as you can see here's the hammock behind me so there's a bit of a tree in the way here it's not an ideal place for this but what I'm gonna do is just very quickly show you how to get into this hammock if you've not done any hammock in before there seems to be a lot of myth that you fall out of hammocks very easily people into themselves or get trapped and tangled up in them I've not found that to be the case I've never fallen out of this helmet but there are a few tricks to get him into it carefully because you can lose the balance a little bit sometimes and just kind of step forwards out of it so what I do I grab the hammock roughly in the center with both hands push it down a little bit

step into it sit into it rather push it behind your knees so that you start to get this bone actually so you can sit in it like this that is really really comfortable actually really much better than a camping chair if you a lie down in it sit yourself upright like that with the the fabric right with the top your hand your knees and plaintiff still behind you and then in one swift movement just bring your knees up to one side where you want your feet to go and then lie lie your top half down so it's just like so then you can rearrange yourself once you're in and there you go no problem moved around or turning over in this that's all okay one problem I have found with the hammock however is that you kind of want something under your head at this end so I started bringing with me a small sorry about that I'll just going for a horse ride to go by I've started to pack with me a a small camping pillow it's bit of a bit of a luxury when you come out it's a little bit of extra space that you know you don't necessarily wear I just find that you get a multi-prong from your sleep now with the camping habit you've made notes me just zipping through the look there and what that is there's a compartment on the inside okay so you can open it by this this compartment has a couple of uses okay so the first use the main you see if you're in cold conditions what you can do is you get your thermal rest or your role map and you can put that inside that layer and then it surrounds you from the surrounding dirt because one problem it you do find with hammer king is your sleeping bag will compress at certain points under your weight so I take I find that tends to be my knees my hips and my shoulder and occasion my elbow and the thermistor the robot stops that happening a little bit doesn't have to be a roll man or anything I've in the past I've used a bracket and I've used spruce boughs works just as well however the other useful at cocoon thing is you can't sorry that compartment is you can cocoon yourself within the hammock which if you're quite new to hammer King gives you a better more a better sense of security and safety within the hammock and you know you're not going to roll out of it so just very quickly showing that I'll not be able to talk much to do it because I'm going to be inside the hammock in that we really muffled you not be able to hear me but I'll just show you that really quickly awesome as inside so how long is it that now just get into it just the same as before and then you can zip down that's a bit of problem but I'll talk a little bit more in detail about that in just a moment so you can cure yourself right side

and that's that's a good strong zip you know that's not gonna that's not going to pop easily if you're cocooned inside so yeah it does help to make make you feel a little bit more secure now a couple of problems with this hammock got big issues but a couple of things you may want to tweak have you may notice then when I was trying to zip that compartment up with myself inside I had to stick one leg out on the floor and pull it forward if it's wet and if you're in a sleeping bag that's not really ideal because the feet of your sleeping bag is going to get wet so one thing you can do is just put a little loop of cord through the zip I got enough another video I'll tag them in this and then you can keep that cord inside the compartment and just pull you pull it all over yourself now the other the other main issue with this camp this this hammock in its standard kind of own customized form is I don't know whether you can quite see will inevitably always stick out from underneath your tarpaulin particularly you've got this hitch between two trees and what the problem with that is you find because it's outside the tarpaulin it's really really heavy rain but rain is going down the trees are falling onto the webbing itself that webbing absorbs the water and slowly starts to wick it into the nylon the nylon hammock now this hammock isn't a waterproof one which is a bit of a problem with it it is the most basic one but the issue with that is if you are caught out yeah it got any word to hitch it you can't just stick it on the floor like we could do but it's not gonna do you any good it's not going to protect you from from wet coming up off the ground were some of the slightly more expensive high arranged hammocks do have a waterproof base on them which is which is really handy for I've known it to be a problem then the wettest I've ever got in this with the webbing wicking the watering to me is I've got a little bit of damp on the top of my head a little bit damp at the top bottom of my feet because that's where the water slowly starts to come in from and although it wasn't a really big issue

it was quite uncomfortable but there's a few ways you can customize those those webbing kind of tethers which I'll do some videos on sort of a little bit later when I get the new hammock so I'll just golf there it's really really simple stuff it just involves carabiners and metal rings and things and that's pretty much all there is to it so there you go that is the the DD camping hammock another really big bonus to using hammocks for camping as there are tensors that I cannot to mention they go out really really quickly as I mentioned before it takes about two to three minutes to get this up a little bit longer if I'm a little bit shorter than rushing rather but I really hate packing up at the end in the mornings and stuff you know it's really the Boreas task and you've got to make sure you get it imperfect the great thing about hammock is it packs up really really quickly really quickly if I'll just very quickly show you how fast it is to pack this up so I've got my my bag here pull out

then

and there you go that's the helmet packed off that quickly another thing you can access where you can get to go with these hammocks and it's available for all of these hammocks HUS about nine pounds I think it is plus the next couple of quid for postage is you can get I think it's called a snakeskin sleeve and basically what that is it stays on your hammock while it's up at one end and whilst the hammock is off you take the snakes the snakeskin and you pull it along the hammock and it kind of rolls it into a two and then that just goes straight into your cycle and we'll be getting one of them in a week or so so what I'll do is I'll do a quick video on that and it'll be a really quick video just to show you it and then I'll do some of the customizations anyway thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed this video and I do recommend hammer King it's in my opinion it is the best form of getting out of camp it's really really comfortable good for your back as well do check out the DD website I'll stick a link up to them at the end of the video as always please subscribe give me a like give me any feedback on the video some anything you do like me if you didn't like anything you want to see me reviewing give me a shout and I'll get that all for you thanks for watching you
