hey everyone so what I'm doing today is I'm doing a video response for Forrest Walker one more model in regards to his competition for some absolute brilliant stuff the galaxy news channel and I'll throw a link to his channel at the bottom of this and also this video i'll probably be available on his channel as well so first off I'd like to say congratulations man 500 subscribers that's quite a bit I'm a captain but how long you've actually been going for and I know it's a massive waiting game wait for subscribers stuff to come in so really well donkey on that one so what you've asked for is you've asked us to make a brew you've asked for us to show us your favor our favorite knives and talk about our favorite tool and then show you a MacGyver ism got a few things planned for you so the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna get a brew 1 i'm going to use my trusty bush box here and hopefully to get everyone cuz i've managed to forget the trivets always play around with them last night and i forgot to pack them but hopefully it should still work I've got my water and stuff anyway if not I'll be drinking cold water so I'm gonna get fire going and then we'll have a look at my favorite night

so that's my quite smoky fire just go everything's a bit wet today is kind of mid autumn here in the UK so my favorite knife and it's quite hard choice for me I've got quite a lot of knives and quite a few that i use for different things but there is one particular life that I keep coming back to and it's not the most extravagant knife in the world it isn't the fanciest knife in the world isn't custom-make or anything like that but it is one I keep coming back to frequently and it's this one here you'll probably all recognize it and it is my moral companion let's bring it a little closer to the camera though it's much more a companion knife it's kind of a bushcraft standard and I really like this knife is well it wasn't the first I got it was about the third or fourth mind if I got and the reason is my favorite is it's just it's just a really nice knife the price of it this is the carbon steel version you see it's well well use it doesn't heed a bit of a clean I don't like to have my wives too shiny cause it never lasts and it's just it's just a fantastic but a kit for the for the price of it and the quality you get in it I've used it for everything it's got the scandi grind on it the flats can grind the plastic sheath is pretty nice and i like the rubberized handle it's just a good all-round my only issue with it is the fact that the the back edge the spine is kind of round and so you can't strike your foul rod off if you yeah a bit of a pickle you've got to use the the blade they come razor sharp it's an absolutely fantastic knife there's not much much more to say on it and this is just my favorite knife it isn't my most used knife and but it is one I frequently come back to and I have got a lot of the knives different handles different types of steel and someone's been gifts off certain people some are really nice-looking some have different grinds from different metals as well he said but this one I have to say is my favorite because I just keep coming back to it i've bought a few of these four different people and I'll Pete he's probably watching I got him while these thing I've got the stainless steel one I'll support off my dad and one for my brother they go out shooting the hunt and fish and stuff so yeah really fantastic knives this is probably my favorite one and I've anyone starting out it is the one I would always recommend so there you go that is my favorite knife so now as my fires just getting going get myself a brew bomb so my brew is just kind of boiling away that all camera angles bit off their bruises blown away there so the next thing you asked for was to talk about your favorite tool now I struggle a little bit with this one partly because I am kind of trying to make a bit of an effort currently to take less stuff out with me the more that I learn the more and finding things and a lot of stuff I take with me not unnecessary as such or you know and you know it's nice to have you know a lot of your tools and things with you but I'm finding more and more that I don't really need them to to settles I'm going to put the rubber lips it on fire wood line through so I start to think so I've got to talk about my favorite tool and trying to take less and less with me what can i really say about this so and I got to thinking well maybe you know my boss my bush box which was kindly donated to me and I take that everywhere with me because it means that I can you know I've always got the ability to make a fire or at least you know I've got some kind of stir with me it's really versatile it's fantastic and then I thought well what about a knife but i thought well that's kind of standard answer it's very interesting your knife is really important in bushcraft book doesn't really doesn't really make for a good video it's not very interesting to talk about your knife is fantastic don't know if you can do pretty much anything and I thought well why am I taking less tools out well the reason I'm taking less and less tools out is because my knowledge of bushcraft and my kind of environment here in the UK is growing and growing all the time and I think that's probably that is my most valuable tool and when I'm out about is my knowledge I'm pretty confident that I could go out into the middle of nowhere with nothing and do all right you know not amazingly I'm not pro I'm not an expert but I could do pretty good with just nothing on me so I think my my favorite tool my most important tool is my knowledge and the things around me which is quite cool because you've asked for a MacGyver ism out in the woods and if you haven't got that knowledge where you're going to struggle to kind of craft things when you're out there to overcome certain problems and kind of tribulations that come up come about when you out about so I think that's it for me my favorite tool is my own mind my knowledge I can't really you know miss place that I could lose it when I'm older of I hit myself in the head which given my kind of you know if you know me that is likely but it's not something that can be misplaced it's not something were you know a new product can come along and make it better it's not gimmicky and it doesn't cost anything to carry it with you so yeah that's it my my favorite tool is my knowledge of my my surrounding area and my bushcraft knives and the great thing about it is it's constantly improving so it's not like a standalone item that once you've got you've got it in you go work with it it's something that's constantly building so it's a great tool yeah and I think that's what's kind of given human beings an edge throughout our evolutionary program sort of what society loosen any story and so yeah that's it my favorite tool for ice water 111 is my knowledge of bushcraft and the environment so my builder you can hear what my water is just about boiling but the camera over and showing it you know this is my is how about to just flip this around so you can see this is hell out to work without the trivets is balanced precariously on the corner so yeah note to self always willing to put the trivets back on the bush boss box when you've been messing with them I was trying to get used to getting them all off but hey go that's what happens when your bored eh so the way I see that there we go one brilliant cup of coffee no you don't drink coffee yourself even drink tea man so weird who doesn't drink tea you can ad in they give this a little bit of a stir there's MacGyver's and right for you there quickie spoon with yourself clean stick give it a bit of a stir then and you're done I just gone your fire that wasn't my actual my guy risen it's just a handy little trick so one of my favorite MacGyver isms it's just by taking a green shoot of something like this you but what's in a bit straighter than normal but unfortunately i'm in canada and i don't really know that well i'm not actually at my camp like you request in the video but as you know you know me work quite well i'm not in that area very often i travel around quite a bit but I carry my camp on my back or in my car so take your green shoot and you take your knife I'm going to put my knife just in the sense like this I had done a proper full video on how to do this but I put my knife rock it backwards and forwards there then take it hopefully just found this here bit of wood oops and then then go split this all along that's are not there okay so this is gonna be the most appropriate thing for this but in mind and i'm going to shun for the edges just a little bit just to clean them off that's got to be green through this if you did if you try and do this with most was when the drive you probably get away with hazel or row and up something like that but for most woods you want something there's green i'm just going to clean those edges off so I've not split it all the way along it's about halfway realistically you want to go to two-thirds but I've got this big not in the way and I was struggling to find anything better than this in the area but it'll still work once I've got that far I need to find myself a thin stick which I can just grab from anyone the floor I'm going to wedge this down towards the bottom whoops it's broken really matter and then got myself and I SAT tongs there for cooking and what up that sticks a bit thick let's just watch it now it better so there we go that's my MacGyver ism great for cooking whenever you cooking a steak wherever you can make really long versions of this you can even tie it off to start out split for a further so I pull that it's going to split further down break and well there you go that's my that's my favorite MacGyver ism just making set of tongs let's see we can prove it a little bit in the different stick that's why it's not open so we go good set of tongs picking picking stuff up stuff that a cat she wants to be picked up there you go so yes that's really useful that's my little MacGyver's on their fear mate really useful i was like blowing away when someone showed me this and I've used it quite a lot it's really really useful it means you don't have to take as many cooking utensils out with you and it's incredibly handy for getting stuff out of fires and things like that so points me brew so that's my kind of short video response unfortunately angle much daylight out here today I'm going out for the afternoon and I know you've been bugging me to do a video response to this and I hope that has been good i hope that i hope you've learned something from it and i look forward to seeing the results to this so once again congratulations on getting your 500 500 subscribers and how excited I was when I got to that point and I'm just coming up to just under 2,000 at the minute so hopefully in a couple of months time you'll be at that level as well i really i really hope you are because you trials brilliant and it's great to see you doing so well catch you later mom
