hi guys and what I've got for you today it's something I'm quite excited to show you

and I'm today I'm going to be looking at my new bushbox XL from bushcraft essentials so this is the envelope it's coming and I do a polity 4 I start I do apologize there is some forestry work going on in the background that I didn't know about so if that impacts on the video too much let me know and I'll read film for you but I wanted to do this video today because it's my first time using it I've literally had it I've taken out and had a very very brief look at it so this is kind of an unboxing as well or you haven't used it so it's absolutely brand-new so the bush box comes like this in here and there is the box itself which we'll have a look at in a moment but it also comes with a cool little sticker and some instructions as well the instructions I'm really glad that some instructions in here because there's quite a lot of it's quite a versatile piece of kit this from what I can gather look at the instructions and the instructions really go into detail that and it's just a thin little a little pamphlet just a four like this hope you can see that on there telling you how to use it correct care of use and the different things that this can do and it comes in this nice little calico bag as well so that's the bag that it comes in upon with the bag and the little thing but it's just just I feel about maybe an inch or a centimeter too small you can see the Box kind of pokes out the top of it a little bit they're not a major issue it's just a lot of like something slightly larger but you know that's just me being picky so let's have a look at the box itself and just react all the camera for you so you can see what I'm doing so this is the box it's it's quite thin I'm not entirely sure the weight of this is for the size of it it is pretty weighty but it's not a huge huge weight on it and so it's folded up like this really really nice and flat you can feel straightaway the quality of this piece of kit and it's really really nicely made it's got the bus craft essentials well going it there and there's ease to trivets here which can be taken out now these trivets have taken that once they're a little bit fiddly just stuff and that's because it's new but once they come out these are really useful so let's just get the out so I'm gonna try and set them out by lifting that and then flicking them at that sorry you didn't see that at all bit awkward with the camera angle dirt so the best way to get these out just balance this on my knee so you can see what I'm doing it's to lift them up entirely and then they kind of pop out sideways I said they are a little bit fiddly to get out which it's a bit of a pain

what whoops

believe that's that's I've been told by another guy the gag guy my mate my buddy Craig who sent this over to me actually and said that once you get used to it actually really easy to get out so we'll have a bit more of a look at the trivet in just a moment that saw that camera it's all gone wonky there we go so that's the trivets take off and to open this out it's really simple it just opens out like this and then inside the base has just come out and then in here there's the yeah there's the base and then there's this little grill here for letting the air through and they fold up inside it so to fold it up you just use these little hooks at the side here they come up whoops like so the inside goes up then you fold the two quarter sides in court in sides in and there you go so let's show you that again open it up and then base folds out doing this a little weird angle to show you so baseball's out just like so falls down sorry and then the grill falls in as well so that's that just going to react em now so you can properly see what I'm doing and I'm going to give this bad boy a whirl so I'm just about ready to get this this going I'm going to bore myself Pinal water and see how long it takes we just before I do that I just wanted to show you a little bit about what the trivets can do and I'm sure there's a lot of additional uses that I haven't quite figured out here but a couple of things I really like is you can put them on the top here whoops put on a proper base yeah this is actually very sturdy its fittest tipping though because I put it on on a slant for this is one of the things I forgot to mention earlier it is really sturdy when it's down especially because it's quite weighty and what those trivets can set on the top that's hang we'll be using them in a minute and they just kind of give you a slightly wider base to put on your panel your kettle on the top there I think is that odd how am I doing this what am I doing wrong now there we go yeah it's actually very simple to use it's just that I'm also a little bit simple huh and they can be put in the center here as well to create a space like this and what this also does is it means you're not completely covering the top here where lots of heat needs to get out now I've collected quite a quite a large stack of a fire wall here today grits number one it's pine which burns very quickly and very hot anyway but also the instruction manual for this does say that it it burns very hot and very quickly which previous experiences like honey stoves and how about stoves is quite true and the other cool thing that I really like about the trillings none have to do this a little bit backwards to see if it's on the camera is when this is hot you can actually use these trivets like this through the the feeder hole for award to actually move it around and these going to use this handle so that is really cool I love little things like that really well thought out by people who clearly you know understand that the needs and necessities of you know bushcraft and what it is here out there it's a really really excellently well-thought-out piece of kit so now bird would do letters get this lit so I'm going to light it your shoes in some cotton wool and in the base here so I'm going to put the trivet on assets are listed in your little bit more space to work one thing I have just noticed when I was collecting firewood Zhai did actually briefly misplace the trivets they get hidden under under this stuff on the ground quite easily so make sure you put them somewhere you know I'm going to get myself into habit of putting them back in this bag and and putting this bag inside a pouch or or whatever so just be aware of that I'm just going to open this cotton wall out I probably don't leave this much cotton wall book it's the I'm only out for a couple of hours so let's use it again sorry about the forest you're going in the background this is a working forest I'm working it so local that out so you can see this this hole here is a where I'm going to feed any extra fuel in and then in a moment I'm going to put my my zebra zebra Billy can on the top I'll probably have to stop the camera briefly while I do that just to rehang glint so you can actually see everything so do apologize for that so let's get this lit so I've got on the firewood and stuff ready like I said the instructions do say that this is going to burn very hot very quickly and I have a previous experience of this similar type of thing before so I am also expecting that to happen whoa instant heat off that so I'm gonna put those in straight away well actually that is really kicking out something already and that's just err that's just the tinder Wow so far so good very impressed Oh

kick it out with some seriously that's cool so easy to start what already is like burning through the wood that I'm using really quickly in hindsight probably should have put those trivets on first let them learn yeah I wish you could feel the heat coming out that's actually it sir it's quite intense is actually a really good sign just be aware that it is good eye wear if you are going to be using this make sure you've got plenty of firewood to hand depends what you're going to be dealing with it as well I suppose so let's get these trivets on soo so and like so so it's a stainless steel construction so it probably will blew up a little bit at the use probably well it's still shiny but I kind of like that pollute Bluebird effect I don't like gear and equipment that looks like it's never been used but they hey that's just me so I'm going to get this going I'm going to slowly work up to some slightly thicker ward in this before I get the get the stove on the size this is the stove get the panel and then once that's on I'll time how long this takes to boil about half a liter of water in a billy camp but I won't make you sit and watch the whole thing boil I'll just time it for you okay so that's a fire going and I'll stop filming for just a moment there and then we'll get the billikin on wow that is really hot so I'm just like to get my pan of water on and we'll leave the lid off so we can see it boiling and I'm going to time it for you this dear old standard way of doing this so we're going to start pop that on now those trivets just a smidge too wide what never mind

and there we go we'll just started so what I'll do is I'll see how long that's going to take to boil and then I'll get back to you once it has boiled it's going to feel a little bit more wooden to it and this is one of the very few downsides of this is actually a little bit a little bit fiddly to a to feed your wooden into it so you've got to break it down really small not a major problem hopefully you can see me doing that there yeah gosh can and yeah it's not it's not a major issue of the piece of kit at all it's just when it's very hot like you saw a moment ago with the really big flames up on it and it is quite hot and it's difficult to get you your fuel small enough but I think that's because I'm using quite quite thick pieces of wood which really I don't think you need to just need lots of sticks or a few very small pieces of wood you got an axe with you or whatever or press-secretary like that much easier most using this course can pine which is a bit of it's a little stringy spring deep rather and difficult to snap it's not having any of it so use some of these thinner twigs let's do a little wee bit of birch I've got it you can see that it's just I haven't emptied this or anything and there's there's hardly any waste left over from this well so it really is burning all that all the energy from the water completely in there ought to get some bubble start to form in that pot so yet it's boiling really quickly really quickly so I'm just going to get it filled up

so one of the things that stays in the instructions before I leave you is that you shouldn't be covering this bit here I think I've left that a little bit too cool but I should have raised up a little bit and if you can just see these four little holes try something to point with these four little holes here that's a really clever little design actually I forgot to mention it a moment ago those holes have parallel walls on parallel ones on the other side so you can actually push 10 pegs through and create like a small grille for yourself making like a burgers bits pieces like that which i think is really cool again it's just a really well thought out really well thought-out design you can see the color style changed a little bit Beck's you prefer like that it looks more more used and correct that way I don't like kit that doesn't like it looks like it's not being used like overly shiny knives so you know what I don't think I like to turn the cam the camera off it's boiling really quickly if there's a lid on this of course it would have birdboy 'old much much quicker the other thing I'm going to do in a moment once we boil this water we had look how long it's taken is I'm going to also at time how long it takes a thing to cool down for packing away just coming up - well it was come up to three minutes now there we go and that is already boiling the other thing I really like about this anomaly you can tell but there's barely any smoke going off the flames which is really good so I sleep in - your whole stealth wild camping there's just really I mean there's a bit more as I put the pan on that's because I've stopped some of the oxygen supply to it but before the pan was on this hardly smoke at all which is excellent that's really good where are we up to three and a half minutes and we're already getting up to a simmer if it wasn't for the forest in the background you actually able to hear it but as I've said I've apologized for that so we're on just coming up to let's go up to four minutes and we are on a boil so it takes roughly I'd say roughly four and a half minutes to get this boiling can just see in there it really is boiling now so quick so good it's really kicking out a lot of heat I can feel the heat on my hands from where I am and I'm a good foot away from this zoomed in on the camera there there we go forming it two more a rolling boil so I'm just going to lift that off and there we have it so I am going to film a little video responce my body who sent this out because he wants to see me using it and then after that I'm going to let the thing burn down we'll have a look at how long that takes and then we'll have a look at how long it takes the actual piece of kit to cool down we've given the shape and thickness of it I don't think it's going to take overly long for it to cool but we'll see in a moment so kind of down to the last embers here but you can just about see in there there's one stick still going that's literally a stick on its own burning and some embers and still that's not as close as I can get my hand not even in the frame let's just rearrange that so you know it's still kicking out phenomenal amount of heat which is absolutely fantastic that final stick has just gone out that and what you can see in there and that is from a whole stack of firewood I've been here for a good hour just pouring large stick small sticks into there and and it's just hard there's just no waste left really and everything that isn't there let's take the stick it's literally just just crumbling to nothing in there which is really really good at still really hot though so yeah that is I'm really impressed with the design of this absolutely fantastic all these little holes in it I just brilliant there they let so much oxygen in it's really really impressed with it let's just see how long it takes the thing to cool down though I'm hoping with it being metal ooh it will stay very very hot for quite a while and then cool down very quickly I don't know as I said earlier in the video can't member song say it again I could put water on this but I'm not going to past experience of using this kind of thing is especially with it having moving parts and if I put water on that it's going to warp the the metal on it it doesn't doesn't actually say anything the instructions about this it just says let it cool down so I'm presuming that that's the case here I mean it's pretty sturdy stuff really chunky kind of good quality pure stainless steel all the way through every piece of it is stainless steel but I don't want to walk this so I'm not going to put any water on it leaving warm water

I'm just gonna let the thing cool down the fact that it's burning for such a long time is fantastic though I mean you could have a really you could get get yourself a really really good campfire in this what I am going to do though is I'm just going to knock these trivets off using a stick let them cool individually on their own whoops so I not to burn the ground and it's not going the ground the result so yeah it is starting to cool now I can get my hand a little bit closer so that's really good the other thing I'll show you properly in a moment any scorch and around the outside you can see is literally it's not actually scratching from the ground it's just bits of Ember that's fallen out so if you're careful not to that's very careful to clear the ground around you and use it in this bush box I don't think there's any real worry of it igniting the ground at all is it is reasonably well up off the floor as well that's really good in the grounds quite hot next to it so that is something I'll watch out for in the future and we'll do some more videos on the bush box so what we'll do at this point I'll start the timer and we'll see how long it takes to cool I'm expecting a reasonable amount of time actually first to cool so whereas my timer gone did to do so put a hit start now so from this point will waiting for it to cool I'll get back to you once it has cooled down I'll let you know so we've just passed the 13 minute mark and let's see where we're up to I'll just give it a little bit of a touch it was warm let's see what we're up to

okay so it's still a little warm to touch it's not hot by any means so I'm going to go ahead I'm going to empty this out

thirty minutes isn't bad I was expected it to be much longer than that just on the floor there after all the fire when I put in it that is the remainder of the of everything and that's nice and cool there's no embers in there at all I'll cover that up before I leave spread it out a little bit so to pack this away watch the bottom like you're just going to lift the inside out oh yeah it's lovely and cool now well it's it's cooler than it was it's not cold metal but it is cool pop now the bottom still a little hot to touch actually the bottom still a little bit hot to touch so I'm going to leave it for a second Legend not burnt but I've just mildly singed my fingers on that so okay let's see where we are now nope that's still pretty hot I'll get a couple of minutes and then I'll get back to you okay so I'll give it another couple of minutes this bottom bit is still actually pretty hot but it's it's hot enough to it's cool enough to put it away now so I'm going to do is flip that bit back now so to put it away I'm going to flip the inside up that's on turn the whole thing upside down open the sides out and then just push this in what's stopping it sort of stop lips and moving that so I just I folded it incorrectly so yeah it's all folded up nicely packs away just like so there we go you go we'll say it does seem too warped ever so slightly here which is what was making it a little bit difficult so just be aware of that I don't think it's going to get any worse but that's right whether the heat bed was that's just something to be aware of I possibly let it get a little bit too hot so you pop the trivets away in it so the trivets cooled down pretty quickly it's about three four minutes to cool down and to pop them away there's these flat bits here so they're just going to sort this bit here rather and this bit here I'm going to stick them in and clip them back into place and a lot of fiddly to get in actually there we go hmm sort open concerning okay so they popped in there just a bit fiddly

okay that's not snap into place but it's not moving anywhere we go wasn't pushing it in firing off and then pop the whole thing back it's nice light little bag which presumably will stay that clean for that long so get that sopping top so - will thoughts on the bush box are that it's a great bit of kit and I'm really happy with it the big bonus of it is that it's folds away to next to nothing it's a bit comes in 800 grams and so it's a little weight for its size but to be honest the ability to take a fire pretty much anywhere is we is really a bonus you can use this for the transient stuff and we'll do some more videos on that the different uses of it different ways you can use it and really versatile bit a kit gets your nice hot fire boils boil some water in about five minutes and so how much you're boiling so easy for a brew I imagine it'll cook quite quickly and we'll do some cooking on that and I'll show you it as well also if you get on the website which will be posted in the link in the in the description box down here there's a lot of little additional bits and pieces that go with it which a nice just flat cross out pieces of a stainless steel which will fit quite easily in the bag with it so that's really handy downsides and it does burn through quite a lot of fuel but nowhere near as much I thought it would do so it's not really a downside tribute to a little bit fiddly and it has warped ever so slightly but I don't think that's going to get any worse but what I will do after a few more use so I'll come back to it and I'll give you my thoughts on it then as well overall great bit of kit can't fault it at all the this is the bushbox XL it comes in different sizes this is the most expensive one I think it comes in about 64 pounds

oh yeah it arrived in two days so they're really on the ball with the posters and stuff and the post it was cheap because it's flat and it's not too heavy just came in little thing like this so I didn't even have to be in the house for it's arrived it's just stuck through the letterbox cool and and also the fact that it causes instructions is fantastic as well a like year like this doesn't come with any instructions or anything so that's that's a big bonus overall out of five stars I'd probably give this probably a four four and a half the only my only real problem is it resolves trivet so a little bit fiddly but then the guy I'll make cravings emptiness so if you get used to it's just it's just the learning curve getting used to them I'm really sorry about a lot of noise in the background I hope this video has been useful for you and I do recommend getting out and getting one of these you can take your taking fire up on the moors and all kinds with it just using whatever bits of fuel you can find around and you can use it trying to store like a certain different fuels which I'll get back to thank you for watching please subscribe please drop me a comment let me know your thoughts if you use one yourself Cheers
