Recommended Kit: Ridgeline Trooper backpack

Description

In this video I take a look at the 'Trooper'* backpack by Ridgeline of New Zealand. This is a seriously rugged but of kit and at an excellent price, the whole pack is incredibly well made featuring two main compartments and many attatchments which are compatible with 'molle' style pouches.

*I Call it the 'tactical pack' by mistake in the video.

I've walked back on Wednesday is another recommended piece of equipment today and we'll be showing you and talk me through this

which is the bridge line trooper tactical back let's order so the first thing we need to say about this backpack is just the general size of it you can fit a lot more as black factoring looks I think it I think it comes in at about 30 liters this backpack stand alone I was actually unable to find any specific details for how much you can fit inside this backpack but I say it's about 25 30 liters which is quite a lot really and it also has all over it these Molly attachments and this is something I really like and I've not been a real big fan of the more attachment the kind of tactical feel of things in the past and I'm not really into the military look things military style things but I'm aging more and more towards the kind of modular setup little backpack and this is really useful to me as you can add and remove stop really simply so these Molly attachments the really really rigid standard web and attachments that all over the front II all down the sides and also really healthy along the bottom as well and to see there's two compartments which have look in the moment but in the bottom of the front compartment and there is a space for water to come out of we're not in the main compartment this is the main section here

there are no Molly attacks on top of this and which I actually quite like we'll talk about that in a moment but on the top of it we do have these handy little clips

which different to a lot of the backpacks have seen the fast the fasteners on this attached directly to the backpack not by a the webbing like they are on the top and this is really useful for attaching things like a bedroll your blanket or whatever and they're really useful I really like the fact that you attach directly because it keeps them nice out the way you can see that these are really cleverly fasten on I've a feeling they they might come off somehow I'm not going to try and mess them because I don't want to damage the pack but this is the this kind of forward compartment and we've also got another compartment is hatched taxed here this is really really useful i tend to keep my own a bush box and bits and pieces here I've actually got them in the hydration partner to the back of the moment just because I'll just for the day so I didn't need anything else in here which is really useful for keeping in things like identification booklets bits and pieces of that really really useful as a lot of different compartments in this bag so inside the main compartment here I hope you can see it's quite dark on the camera so I roll it back to show you it's quite rigid really really well made and we have also ahead for hydration compartment in here as well for a blunt pack or anything to go really really nice nicely arranged just elasticated bit of bit of fabric it's not the toughest fabric in the world it has start to come apart ever so slightly whilst I've been using it but I'm not too worried about that I think this is the only issue I've had with this pack on the whole but the head hydration compartments fantastic because on the top we also have really useful and now kind of ubiquitous find the hole and hold to come through for your the mouthpiece of your plan of hats come to so you can or back or your hydration system or whatever so the back of the pack the bit where it sits on your back is nicely padded really comfortable and not its doesn't it doesn't have a rigid frame in it it's movable and I quite like that I'm not a huge fan of the rigid frames very clever with designs they've got two pieces of singing shoulder blades here a bit that sets it to get to the base of you back the straps of the back of the bag rather fairly standard straps you've got again these webbing straps for attaching things to which is always useful we've got two bits here which can be used to but just strapped to pull them up or to attach further things to and see these are a lot of backpacks off the top of my head I'm honestly not a hundred percent sure what they're for but it also has these little plastic caribbean eclipse which again and there are very minor thing which quite often gets overlooked but I'm actually really useful I to keep a little really small like led pen torch on these for when I'm out about especially I lose a light or whatever and we've also got touch the straps the chest clip which I'll demonstrate more in a moment but that's really nice it's quite just a ball and he even has a little bit of elastic to give you a little bit of moving once it's tightened up which again is one of those things are quite often gets overlooked and I find it really useful because it just gives the whole chest strap a little bit of additional movement when you're worrying and I otherwise finally they tend to be a bit restrictive just to show you everything is double stitch throughout those Molly attachments a well stitched into place so let's have a look at the pack going on so easy on as always mother tube and sixth backpack there's no way in this in a minute I'm just completely empty for the video so there's no way to knit well this is the chest strap you can see is a little too big for me there I pull it tight but then even then once it's fitted tight it has a bit of stretching then force something which again gets missed out all these smaller packs is a waist strap or even with a small fashion you carry quite away chest strap a nice big chunky plastic grip on it it's really easy to tighten this up then of course it's got a little elastic struck here we've removed just the key thing for loose bits out of the way the actual struct have the normal little buses on there which means you just it really easily that's loose pull it down it's a nice tight and the whole thing 26 really really of my back one last feature would like to most about this pack due to the shape of it is quite it's quite a square shape is quite a square base on it which I really like because it means if you haven't got about anything attacks on the bottom of it when you put the pack down it just stands up really nicely which is not something you get with a lot of packs we tend to be a little very top-heavy and tend to fall over quite easily where is this your limiting the amount of space that of the pack was actually touching the ground a special wet day it has it's a great pack it's only just got on the market and in the UK its retail about 51 pounds which gel what for such a really well-made piece of kit that's a fantastic price for it especially for such a well-known a well-known name you know you're not just playing for the brand there you paying for a decent decent bit of kit so everyone that's the bridgeline tactical backpack I really hope you found this useful it's not kit review as such it's a recommended piece of equipment it's my first video doing recommended gear instead of a kit review and so please stay tuned I'll hope to be recommending walk here for you
