Oh

hi guys one little thing that it's going to show you just before I start getting a breakfast ready not sure whether actually need to use these but just in case i'm going to pre prepare it and what I'm going to be making today involves on very small stick one fresh thin green lipstick I've just got this fresh and a bramble shoot and I'm going to show you how to make and some tongs for turning food so that your hands are lighting away from the fire it's really simple and really really quick quick to do so I've collected my stuff pre-prepared so I'm just gonna put my bramble and my small stick to one side okay I'm small stick to a habit of going walkabouts when you do this then I'm going to take my knife and place it very gently straight through the middle of that you can see the pit in the middle and I want to take my knife straight through and you'll notice that I've got the wood as close to the handle of as close to blade and sorry as close to the handle as the blade goes because that's the sharpest most sharp is strongest and most control point now very gently using the half of my ax I'm just going to tap that knife in so what I need to do now is I just need to work that knife through I'm not putting any downwards pressure on this because if that knife slips it's going to come straight into my hand and do me a serious injury so I'm just working it from side to side and gently moving it through now a points like this little not I've got here this wood will want to split off in one direction so I have to try and look at which way it wants to go so I think it's going to come towards me I know it's gone straight around it fantastic if you're finding it is actually standing off a little bit and you're finding your woody start to go off in one direction twist your knife away from that direction and it will realign that split for you just like so I'm going to take this split so far dolls and get started to get a little thin so that's my piece of wood split now the next thing to do is I need to take my small stick

and wedge it down the bottom and that stick all it does is keeps these open and that is effectively that's your tongs almost made you can make them a little longer but I really don't need them any longer than that but what I'm going to use the bramble shoot for is I'm just going to wrap it a little bit around this thin end just to hold everything in place and to stop my water splitting any further more than anything bramble makes great cordage especially these nice new shoots the really flexible really bend it I have prieststrip to most of the spikes of it but I have got another video showing you how to do that then I just want to talk to cut a little bit at office a bit long oops snap my stick that happens and then just took that bramble now give it a bit of a pool and there you go you've got a pair of tongs ready to go now ideally and the would you want to be using for this it something like willow or hazel because it's splits really nicely but unfortunately where we are today that are no willow trees and Ryan are hazel trees so I've just used this bit of water wits on these double check yet that's a piece of beach that one so they go set songs really really useful you can make them quite big when we press frappe later on for breakfast will be using a similar method to split the wood as well but i'll go through doing that with an axe cheers guys you
