hi I've

got another bit of a kit here today and it's going to be of this which is the gellert folding shovel and hit okay it's not exactly what you call a high-end piece of gear noise a bushcraft essential but these are folding shovels they do vary in quality quite a lot and I'd like to have one with me because they are useful little tool to have around weighs about the course or a pound probably just under that so it's quite light and i'll start with the case the cases it's actually fairly possible it's it's not the sturdiest thing in the world it's got a little belt loop on it I don't think the weight of that would rip this belt loop personally I wouldn't feel confident keeping this on my belt because I could probably rip it off so if it's snagged on it in your damage your case it's just plastic you kind of like webbing stuff it's not it's not the top thing a little festive on the top that makes it nice and easy to open rather the drawstring or anything like that it's got the Geller printed on the front that's the case and we'll pop that there this is the shovel you can see bold quite small it's you know quite compact and it's got a two-piece handle with quite a sturdy that looks quite sturdy anyway folding part here now that looks quite good part the problem with other polling shows I've had is it's just what a one-piece handle which folds out it's got compressed metal folding metal at either side of the joint and that tends to bend quite easy on the previous ones this one seems to be much sturdier I mean it's not going to stand up to all kinds of late you know mining and extreme digging what it's pretty handy for I want so I'm going to give it a go I've not used it yet so let's have a look how it works so can't open them are there's a little screw there which loosens up so now as I've loosened that I should now be able to open these out quite stiff start with the pic ok so what is stiff suppose that's good in a way so i take that back up now that kick yeah that's not going anywhere that's really good get fit wobble in it but you don't need to worry about that screw the handling and almost forgot about the metal on this is a really thick ice it seems quite sturdy it's got these nice rubberized grips as well that's quite a bonus a lot of these that I've used in the past the metal here is just very thin metal tubing so this seems much sturdier than most and the fact that it's got a pic on it makes things a lot easier to the edge of the shovel is quite dull it's got this quite sharp saw and John it here I'm actually sharpen the edge of the shovel but I tend to find a particular on ground like this in pine forest you feel like you need to break the ground up first so i give the pic a little bit of a bell to see how it is now I've dog on this particular section before so I know that it is really difficult dig so I'm just gonna I'm not going to pick a proper hole i'm just going to test it out side them out a little more stop that rattling that's all that rattling is now completely stock goes up tighten up oh wow actually so that it is really breaking that Ethel it's pulling all the routes out on tangling everything that's quite handy give them a pump ok so that's that bit done so i'll now on titan that see how it is close the shuttle out so I up again so one thing I can say about the pic is well it looks like that well actually if this shovel wanted to bend back that's going to give it a lot of extra support so that's quite handy I find it preview Shores I've had if you can just make out II this riveted joint where it's riveted to foaling part that this has a habit on most things of snapping off but with the added protection of this pick on the back I don't think that had happened to easily anyway so let's try it out rubberized grip comes right to the back so that's quite cool quite comfortable in your hand there this is mostly rootless soil actually can get a fair amount of dirt out of it out with it that's actually quite handy and you know what that saw on the side I've just discovered i put that in there there's a lot of roots in the hole but as i pulled it up and dragged it that saw was caught right through those very thin roots all this stuff which when you're in forest can make life really hard work you need to dig a pit for any reason so it's cutting straight through that it turns the price I got this for about six pounds so you know it's quite it's not a high-end piece of gear like I said but you know what that is six pounds it's well worth it I didn't get it from a professional bushcraft operator lilac boat from just a family camping store local to me so you can probably find them in your local millet to something like that or you can get them online properly everything's online these days so let's fold down pulling it down is quite hard but I suspect that maybe because it is new and there's still quite a lot of paint around this joint so we fall that way tighten it back up again

unscrew the handle pop up there grab the bag drop it straight back in and there we go that's the Geller folding saw do you know what I wasn't sure what to expect from this this is genuinely the first time I've used it I'm actually I'm quite impressed for the price of it I probably wouldn't bother buying the more expensive one of these really because in fact some of the more expensive ones I have broke on me in the past it just crossing the expensive doesn't make it they've gone and if this broke after you know 10 or 11 uses I wouldn't be too upset about it I just get another one but to be honest I think a stand up to quite a lot so yeah I do recommend this piece of kit the Geller folding shovel and pick thank you for watching guys please subscribe share my videos around and if there's anything else that you would like to see me review and have a look at if you can see you and buying something but you'd like to see a review of it first give me a shout I'll see if I can get hold of something whatever it is and I'll try and give it a review thanks for watching guys
