today what I'm going to be showing you is how to tie a diagonal lashing now the diagonal i think is quite similar to the square lashing i've already showed you which i'll stick a link up somewhere in the video for for you and but where's the squirrel lashing is designed to stop things moving like this against each other so if you've got one piece of tonight's degree from the floor and the other two people in the other piece at 90 degrees from your upright those poles up and move around now the diagonal lashing is what if you want to create an X shape and it will stop your polls I'm doing this it's very simple to to erm tie I'll get started right now if you'll just we're just a camera ok so to start this not what I'm going to do is I'm going to start the timber hitch again if you don't have to tie that it's well worth learning I'll stick up a video for you we'll just go around round round I'm gonna pull that tight then just like the squirrel lashing i'm going to start lashing around this however unlike the squirrel lashing i'm going to be taking this diagonal home a single hits just come loose didn't wrap it enough times so right now the timber hitch wants me to come this way so what I'm going to do is go the other way from it so I'm going to go this way and under and I'm going to do that three times three times should be enough for this particular lashing pulling it tight as I go you agree this is this is a lashing that you do want to have quite tight so I've done those going this way so now what I want to do is start them going the other way and again I'm going to do those three times pull up tight one two and three pull it over your tight again and then as with the squirrel lashing i'm going to flap that just going to do it once just to pull all of those in tight like some and i'm going to finish off with a clove hitch clove hitch should be a bit closer but i've managed to pick a spot on the sticks with a notch on that thumbs gonna leave it as a half-hitch whanau so that now doesn't move much that direction it's got a little bit of giving it but it's always going to do that and that's that's mainly due to the fact that the I've not pulled this Titan off here because I didn't want to break these kind of this sticks that I've found but also this cord has a little bit stretching it for those sort of for this particular laughing natural call is the best because it doesn't stretch too much as you can see I am stretching that cord a little there but if this was in the ground like so that lashing isn't going to move anywhere at all okay so you can see the sticks are bending there instead of the lashing and there you go that is a diagonal lashing for you as always guys thank you very much for watching please give me a like and subscribe and as for these not videos I'm going to be taking couple days off from doing them simply because I'm not gonna be able to film on our way on a bushcraft training course so I'll get somewhat for you as soon as I'm back from that thank you guys
