okay folks so we are now back on the water moving a little quickly today we've got a bit more of a rhythm with us this morning wind behind us the weather's overcast

because we reached early this morning but yeah the Sun has kind of gone away a little bit I'm hoping the rain stays off Chris and I thinking - yeah I'll kick slayer because we drank beer last night so that's gone now yet we've got the rule but the flow of the walk behind the face or when plaque down the river a little bit of a breeze behind us and we're good yeah this case surprisingly speed I'm really how we found it heron yeah considering how it was found all right yeah basically I want Lake swimming in an undisclosed location in Norfolk and I swam over to find an island where swans live and I found this kayak stuck on the side but the island had a good hard check round at sea that no one was an owner of this kayak and found a sticker on it saying that you've been floating in that particular Lake since 2006

it looks pretty poor or furniture falls with summer

those are what it looked like the forehand and obviously you can see what it looks like after yeah I think I just pointed that over your head the entire time that's fine you can you can fly yeah it's pretty difficult to record from the who stuck behind you when you can't turn around placing maybe family I do it s alright then so yeah we're now a reclaimed kayak so hopefully you've just seen some pictures of what it looked like and so it's what it is now but yeah it's good we'd like a broadside I would love a broad stack well happy 63 broads which I think you'll agree it's like you brought was under 10% of them are open to the public because they are kept clean and habitable by the broad Safari do you want to explain to my non-british viewers what abroad it do you fuzz basically abroad is a wetland area so the pre deep a lot of British wetland is quite shallow but the broad it says roughly for me is deep in most places in most places about four meters deep so great great fantastic habitats for birds fish basically everything that likes wetlands or invertebrates is a lot of invertebrates around tickly laughs like the fighting kind yeah not nice yeah I'm lumpier than all of this today so the broad in Norfolk are a Norfolk's a very very very flat area with a lot of water in it by the coast with a lot of rivers going through so a lot of that water accumulates and forms these wetland areas and habitat and it's just really nice isn't it is um and another broad spectacle because you know that the broad has inspired many books and songs the swallows and Amazon's book was inspired by fraud and it's also mentioned in the David Bowie song life on Mars

where it says from our beach back to the north abroad this is true now during the time when I say they don't suppose you never doubt it so folks with a we found our camp spot for the night it's still pretty early today we're going to go out in the kayak again later on but Rob here really wants to learn some sort of fire light in almond or wood craft skills so if we spend all day in the kayak we're not going to we're not going to get the opportunity to do that so ever so in my eye that and obviously the point where we have to get in and out of the kayak is quite arduous and quite happy very swampy yourself it's nice and secure but basically and where the front the kayak is there that is what you'd refer to as knee-deep twig filled sludge which is yeah technical technical wilderness terms there but and yeah so those the Broads out there or just come from and then we found this wonderful wonderful woodland accountant so nice this wee nice avenue of trees here which a beach for you so we actually have to camp over here somewhere because we don't want to camp on the beach please it's good but I think

order of the rest of the day is going to be established sort of a camping area get camp set up you get a fire going later and just go for a bit of a wander around the surrounding area some wheat fields and stuff out there which is just a nice place to explore maybe get some views in and stuff so we'll see what happens now we've got a unload the belts and go get the kayak into a safe place obviously because we went through a lot Tablas kayak I'm going to know the story of the clerk well I totally do know the story of the correct yeah basically I was swimming out in the North Sea when I thought doing swim around the North Sea and they're basically was a shark and I couldn't figure out how to get out of the war away from the shark and I know where kayak appeared thankfully I managed to swim over to it climb aboard paddling back to shore that's how we got the kayak so yeah the kayak is a deal closer they're nuts Artie what's it focusing on over there and literally yeah the kayak is literally a lifesaver so we're gonna take good care of it it's saved Rob's life and the North Sea from a shark and it's a does on the Broads we didn't drown yeah we didn't drown yet yeah he's not dead having a little panic we had a lot of a panic it was it nearly killed me minutes beforehand so in the going whoa did we get mine off about three and get more topside [Laughter]

all these spontaneous bras fact I just know he didn't research I think I didn't research he didn't give like I just know them all right let you like here so you park and I think you put on use your power

just drag it yet if I can lift yeah I'm just going into the clown air will be alright yes maybe we should turn it over to get some of this water out enter the entire census of it but to get all stuff out yeah yeah get everything outfit all are over and then it's got drain holes in yeah you mean holes stockholder holes holding a bowl yeah not the best it's quite good that we're actually from the broad learning our clacking craft because actually some other famous people have learnt sail on the broad such as the most famous person who learns tail in the world Lord for ratio Nelson he a famous famous English person well yeah every English person ever heard of Lord Nelson we've got pretty big Colin the duration spectacular I've got a lot of colonial viewers here who might not know about well he did you could defeat the Spanish also it always means me that he was from and so I kind of imagined rather than embrace prideful English accent him they're like watch out the Spanish are coming

no the canons Higham oh it's different at you so just raise the mainsail bring up a long name with a lot twenty sausages holes yeah look it's a dream they're like watering it for those to be effective oh that's the eggs nice see how wide it up in the back well I this morning so this mouth guard it's quite a hot off easy

it's close me please incredibly camouflage

[Music]

[Music]

this is a Kingfisher it's one of our shows birds okay how you got this it's a decent part which we've done well today

I've lost them on the camera [Music]

[Music]

how's it going Rob yeah if you over here from my channel me on the rocks I told you about the quad fire this is how we get in and out of our boat at camp good for the skin and the soul knows it's there some people when passing the day bolt being very loud so basically what's happening is we're going to go on a bit of a walk around the the local area to see what it's like so the big cornfield out the back of us here which looks incredibly warm it's really like shaded and cool down in the forest where we are sorry my framing is terrible it's when Rob finally get to cut that cut forgot worries on the camera all right oh there you are anytime today Rob he looks like a brand-new Boy Scout on his first trip out enormous there's not just seen generation to the country this is he change the nation's in this country yeah absolutely

that burdock is yes so it's not looking up on your nothing because I know you yeah yeah you want dolly so there's loads of it here so yeah this is burdock and you can either can't that what this is

[Music]

first-year burdock so it's a biennial plant so you know about that from doing all your gardening videos it loads of climbing the earth so it effectively takes two years it takes two years yes so when it's in its first year so I reckon probably in its emergency but we are on a track here so it's only with it's our first year so because it's like grown so got these big leaves but it's grown flat to the ground bliss and it's not very big so what it's doing is its storing up energy this year by collecting it makes our tuber so it's make this tuber and that's getting really big and then in the second year it'll turn into like this one over here yeah and like you can see the difference in the like the other ones really low to the ground and the masses that the leaves are huge on it I mean like I feel pretty silly but yeah it's been pretty eaten yeah do you want to just grab one of the leaves from over there and do comparison just gone grab one of those office oh yes like yeah you can see they seem pretty big one with neck student didn't with so you're like that success the dips and they look at different cutting drier yeah the slightly different what's the same same time you can tell like cervix got a lot purpley yeah and one of this things and features about it is like the as loads of stuff for one of the things that I first learned about is like a lot of people mistake it for Fox book or mistake box look for this but these veins go all the way out to the edges all right where's our foxglove they kind of come up and cross like that okay so they go to the tip oh yeah you can see like into my three much as tall as we are yeah and it started to get right to pay off like they started to get like the sticky blobs on the top yeah you seem to like horrible when you get them all over you but yes it's shut off so low it's using all that energy in the tooth tuber to do this in its second year and sees and then it will die back this you and then looking

so this is the plant that you want for your nap of things so this is the greater plantain or the Latin name for it is plant I'd do major and I'm not that correct a good common plant like you'll see it all over the place it grows on like lawns and places like that we regulate football playing pitches and people's lawns it-it's like a real pest queen for a lot of people but most of the time it's really stuntin small like this one here because a little because of the lawn mower like constantly keeping it small but they can get pretty big like this is a decent sized one but I've still about size the sort of closed hand or like a slightly open because I've definitely seen like the senior mods and things like that yeah so the seed pods when they're ripe and like you can eat them and they've got a bit of a nutty taste to them alright and the previa the whole plant is edible yeah well the anglo-saxons had it as one of the nine circuit herbs which were using Latin medicinal plants must be pretty good so yeah must be pretty good at anglo-saxons used it and to be honest like myth always and stuff that can be quite useful but they yes back it all with modern yeah knowledge because I want to get some sense to it does may like a pretty decent topical balm for things like nettles things or like bug bites the stuff like that so just like wash it to it up spit it on so what you're saying is this will help my legs well you're like if your flesh is very active to be fair but yeah this is really good for next things this is what I get to the kids at work and and it's a bit giving a bit more like sort of juicier than the other stuff you can eat it but you need to cut it kind of across them veins because then veins like celery and we get like stringy bits and celery if I enough of it will I become immune to Nettles no but apparently it is good for like stomach upsets topic nothing makes you internet apart from money more well I'm just going to power through that he's got powerfully mate how much the clinic's just like knocking around like I'd love to just take this home yeah like it just doesn't exist in the northwest at all where it's like Norfolk absolutely everywhere I'm going to take some back one week I've got my traditional flint and steel in my bag yeah so I might I might grab and a bunch of it yeah what you should do this often still being used no no I haven't and we'll love to have a go on your like to come here and I sort of put on an architectural use of this is all over the place

fucking shit

and yeah so crazy
