hi guys and welcome to new little kind of miniseries that I decided to start I put up on my Facebook and on my Twitter where the people will be interesting they're little soon as I came what we've called the daily knock which is basically each day I'm gonna put up a really quick video detailing it and not to do they're going to start off quite simple and gradually get more and more advanced and in each video I'll talk about the different uses for not explain clearly hopefully clearly how to do the knot okay so if you're interested in that please do stay posted you've got any knots that you'd like to see me try in give me a shout because you know a lot of these things are new to me I'm learning them as I go along that's the whole purpose of this blog post wait for train to go by always trains on my videos

so yeah today I'm gonna be starting with one of my favorite knots because it's really simple I use quite a lot it's quite a versatile a lot call it round turn and two half hitches it's dead easy so I'm gonna stop the readjust the camera so that you can see my hands are what I'm doing so stay posted it we open about two seconds okay so the round turn and two half hitches is really fantastic not for tying up your tarpaulins and things and putting off a ridge line or if you need a piece of rope attached to something like this this branch here with a long piece coming off it that's going to stay taut it's really simple to do so start with one end which is I'm going to call the short end and then you've got the long end which is the bit that's going to be coming out this way okay so start this knot you go around so that's one turn around and there you go actually round turn a case that round turn you can see it's linked all the way over the tree and I've now got this v-shape at this end okay now the half hitch is really really simple to do all you need to do is bring this around one side I usually go if I've got this deal the way up I usually go under back over so you've got it like this and then you've got this nice little V in here and then just pop that through the V and pull it tight now on its own that is going to do absolutely nothing so what you do is just repeat that process again so underneath so now you've got this D kind of shape so you've got that loop here and you've got your short end coming underneath your long end and then that comes through by that just repeat that a few times then you start to see you get this almost it's almost like a braid okay I usually do do it three or four times and there you go so let's just move that up so you can see it so you've got this little braid here pull that tight and then obviously you don't want this loose bit here let's look at my finger under there that's all you need to do is keep tight hold of your long then pull it tight and then you can push that braid along and that knot is not going anywhere at all really pulling on that there the the cord I'm using today is a little bit stretchy it's not completely ideal well that's fantastic for a guyline and if you were doing a guyline all you need to do is take your long end then this bit to your other tree and then just repeat that same process and that is a really sturdy knot okay so now the problem with the particular problem was this knot is it's very very easy to undo I'm just gonna real account camera back to the knot they're really easy to undo you just tap on tight like that however if it's been up for a few days I'm being put under a lot of stress this last piece here because sometimes it gets really really knotted in there especially if it's wet it when there when the cord swells when it's wet and that gets a little bit difficult to undo okay it doesn't lose any of its strength it stays taut for the whole time you're using it but yeah it's a really versatile not really easy tie really good one to start with it's well worth if you're gonna have gotten use it it's well worth practicing it even though it is quite simple but if it's dark and you're doing it at a different angle to what you used to you know it can be a little bit difficult but yeah I highly recommend using it it's very very very very easy there are better knocks you can use for your ear for your tarpaulin hitch and stuff which I'll go into on some of the other videos and talk about them but there you go that's the first one in this little series that's the round turn and two half hitches as always thank you for watching if you've got any comments please let me know please subscribe give me a like etc and please share my videos around if you've got friends who might be interested extra views is always good because I really do appreciate any feedback that I can get offer you guys thank you
