how to tie a 'Prusik' Knot

hi guys and just a little quick video for you today to go in the sort of range of how to set up your tarpaulin and I've got my new top all in here which you can just see but as you can also see it's quite soggy in the middle and if I press on it those rings come closer in so what I'm just going really quickly showing you it's a really simple knot which I make it mine showed me which stops out from happening it is really something all the most simple knots you can do so you start with an offcut paracord like this this is too long so what I need to do is cut it to size so I'm going to work probably just a little bit longer than my length of my fingertips to my inside elbow so I've got that measures out there just give it a little bit more length what that my knife you can seal the ends with a light would be one but I tend not to because I've always got loads of paracord I'm just going to suck my old verse 1 know where to find at the moment for the other side and then you come over to your guideline now this not attached to your guy line first you can't start this by tying off to your tarpaulin initially so all you do is fold your piece in half just like this so you've got like a little loop then take a loop over the top of your guideline then bring two loose ends through so you end up with it like this and you repeat that three times you can do it more if you want but three times is enough and any more than that it starts to get on side so what you get is this then find the central point of your star falling and the little knot tie it off

and then slide it along until that stretches out do the same on the other side so again I'm going to cut my rope to size start there once you've done this a few times you kind of you don't really need to measure it because you get the hangar how much you need oh I don't lose it clip off cuts a power cord or really really handy then again I'm gonna do the same so the loop comes around the back of the guyline Ridgeline sorry through itself so that's like that and again one last time pull it tight on itself find the central point of the tarpaulin tie it off with any old not so long as it's going to stay secure not coming down in the night and slide that along and what this not does just tighten this side up I'll come back over there and demonstrate so I've got that quite tight there what's up on itself so i can now pull this side of the tarpaulin I've got the tarp exactly where I want it sort of roughly central on my guyline but I pull that tight I've nothing i'm not properly that happens occasionally don't worry about it just slide that along slide along its benefit those knocks to come down now rather than later

check that it's secure Paul that's nice and tight now so what i can do is i can slide this back along here now but the knot on the other side they slide it on nice and easily if you're pulling them but if it's trying to move on its own volition while you're pulling the either side use watch the tarpaulin i can pull that quite hard and that other not isn't moving so it keeps this central part nice and taut for you and that's all there is to it i believe it's called Project not i will door check on that and i'll do a full write-up on the on my blog at forrester bushcraft wordpress com and i'll do some pictures stuff for people who prefer to go through knots that way as always thank you for watching please subscribe give me a like you show me around if you have any suggestions for things you like to see anything that I mission out please do contact me don't worry about you know upsetting me or anything if you don't
