Mora Bushcraft Black | Bushcraft Knife | Field Review

Description

Krik of Black Owl Outdoors reviews one of the newest editions to the Mora lines of knives, the Mora Bushcraft Black. The most robust knife offered by Mora, the Bushcraft Black sports not only a larger, oversized handle, but also a DLC, Diamond Like Coating, on the carbon steel blade to curb rust and wear. While the Bushcraft Black is still not a full tang knife, the robustness of the knife makes one forget. A perfect blade for the camper, hiker, backpacker or Mora enthusiast looking to have a bit more hefty of a knife with them. The back of the spine is also sharp and works well for throwing sparks off a Light my Fire or other spark throwing device.

hello Turtles screw here at black outdoors and today I'm going to be talking about showing some of the some aspects and features of the Mora bushcraft black knife and this knife you can find online for around $40 it comes in this very familiar more a plastic molded sheath on the back here there's a swivel belt loop which is detachable so you can attach the other style of belt clip that more has for their plastic sheets which is really cool and frankly speaking I like the belt clip more than the belt loop it's my preference so

dear bro length of the knife nine point one five inches blade lengths four point three blade thickness three point two millimeters and that's the thickest you're going to get with the Mora

besides the heavy-duty companion and robust these are all this is the thickest you're going to get a of a more blade all the others run at 2.4 2.5 millimeters there's another makes this knife below a little special in my mind one of the features is two more I'm going to mention and this is a high carbon steel which maybe you can't tell by looking at it on camera but it's black because there's this diamond like coat finish on it and to my knowledge this is the only Mora that has this finish on it and that's just to protect against corrosion abrasive types of work all that good stuff and it's a Scandi grind catch it with the light number two and the features that really make this knife stand out in my opinion feature wise is this profile not profile but the way the spine is ground it's meant to throw sparks off a Ferro rod maybe you can't see that but I'll show you an action real quick have this other Swedish piece of wood put them in here that's late my fire scout fire steel see just without any effort it's is really ground this is really biting into this without any pressure really on my part throwing sparks really nice and you know these sparks over almost 3,000 degrees Celsius 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit and because there's a little discoloration on this blade you can see it from just from you know the heat of the spark touching the blade you wipe it off with your finger back like new moving down to the handle it's this really large handle in my opinion for the more knives which is nice it's very comfortable sticks out of my hand but here very nice large the rubbers plenty enough grip grip offered with this rubber even when it's wet it feels very comfortable in the hand now I'm going to show a size comparison first with the SE four just to show you similar knives and the simple similar categories of tasks they have the more se for the more just a little bit longer not by much but just as soon as size comparison it's a 3.2 millimeter thickness 4.7 for the SD 4 now this is a large Maura this is a very large more and it'll be more apparent when I show you another from size comparison pull out the fire knife by Maura

you need to see the robustness of the blade how much bigger how much wider the blade is longer and thicker here's this 2.4 2.5 millimeter depending on the manufacturer and vs. is 3.2 and you can definitely you can just just tell tell the difference definitely a big big knife hefty knife alright not for the spec so why now why did I why is this knife cool why do I have this knife well one for one first thing you feel when you put it in your hand is the balance of the night very well-balanced knife very well balanced I'm not sure if it was the intent of Mora to have this knife this well-balanced there was something that's happened as an afterthought either way it's very well-balanced knife and for the fact that it has his profile ground or a keep saying profile ground but the spine that's ground to bite a Ferro rod the thicker thicker blade oversized handle my opinion for Mors really makes this knife great for you know survival bushcraft knife now will this knife do what other fixed blades do ken at the time well let's find out and as I mentioned before in other videos I'm not so much of a putana ng guy for my fire firewood I don't really have the need for it too much unless the wood soaking wet I need to get into some into the insides of the wood let's see how this how this Mike performs kind of got it bit in there it's trying to wedge it up a little bit make it easier get the blade out Charles and tribulations of Brittani anyways you can see it definitely went down the problem that was doing with this particular baton is this woods knotty I ran into some knots I feel like any knife that I put in there in this angle was gonna run in that problem but the knife definitely felt strong enough definitely felt strong enough as I was hitting with baton didn't feel like it was weak comfortable my hand at the grip so you know will this knife through all the tasks they have an se for its similar size my opinion yeah now what I bought confidence carrying a full tang knife with me in the backcountry absolutely will this replace a full tang knife I still don't know but for $40 this knife is an absolute bargain in my opinion it's the more bushcraft Black Creek sounding out black outdoors editorials
