Ontario Knife Co. RAT 2 | EDC Folding Knife | Field Review

Description

Krik of Black Owl Outdoors reviews the long anticipated Ontario Knife Company's RAT Model 2, or in plain english, the RAT 2. Seemingly identical to it's bigger brother in steel choice and build material, the only difference is the scaled down size of the RAT 2. A much smaller knife, one that could easily be a pocket knife with the external clip removed, the RAT 2 is much more suited for an EDC knife. The reduced weight makes it hard to notice you're even wearing it. Whether you're an ultralight backpacker or searching for an everyday carry knife, the RAT 2 will handle all the duties a mid-sized folding knife should.

sup Turtles its Creek here black outdoors it ain't gonna be doing a review on the long-anticipated Ontario bottle rat - whatever you want to call it they're gonna call it a model - rap model - this is the rat - they're selling this for around $27 which I think's a very appropriate price considering how long and in the price the rat one was available online for so long I feel if they would have made this rat - any more expensive people would've bought it overall length you got 7 inches and just for a comparison I'm gonna pull rat one out overall length of the rat to 7 inches handle 4 inches blade 3 inches full flat grind a US Steel the same exact steel quality everything's pretty much the exact same on this knife just 20% smaller weighs 2 point 7 ounces it is thinner than the rat one as well as shorter and so on everywhere just wanna reiterate how it's going to fit your pocket because this is really meant to be in really nice EDC in my opinion of legit EDC if my one gripe with the rat one was it was a it was just too big for an EDC if I'd other things in my pocket there's this two big features the double thumb studs on each size four-way positioning clip same as their eye one depending righty lefty point up point down however you want to carry in your pocket and I can even see the rat two taking this positioning clip off and really making it a pocket knife just putting it in your pocket there's definitely it's small enough it's light enough it's thin enough to really just be in your pocket with your other contents and if it kind of feels like it disappears and now speaking to the other other rat one owners I want to kind of share my impressions and surprises maybe quote disappointments or expectations that I had when I was looking at the rat - for the first time trying to I really had no idea what to expect with it being smaller and if you really like the size of the rat one you have larger hands and that's what draw a drew you to the rat one this rat two might not be for you it is smaller it does not fit in the hand the same way it is much smaller this is an EDC it's not meant for doing a lot of woodworking as you know as you can really push the route one to not enough for prying you have to treat this more like a really small folding knife this isn't big rough-and-tumble as the rat one is but I have destroyed actually one rat one pretty bad really pushing it to its limits

and I just really like the design of these knives really like to design and there's a lot of different styles of eight folders I'm gonna do some cuts with this lets do small little whittling if I want to make a little sharp tool if you will it's really meant for you know to be a legit EDC to do small just cutting tasks the comes sharp comes very sharp just eyeballing the blade angles looks really nice they look really even shouldn't be too difficult to keep an edge on it I'm just really ecstatic that this knife came out like I said before the rat was just a little bit too big in my pocket to wear it around you know in town in a city now that the rat twos out smaller really fits in my hand just kind of see how actually small it is gonna be really nice for an EDC be carrying this a lot this is correct signing out with blackout doors later Turtles
