hey wassup Turtles Creek here with blackout outdoors today we're going to be using this GSI Java press which is basically just a French press and before I get into some of the details and specs to this I'm going to check this waters I believe we're at a rolling boil this was from the creek so obviously I want to make sure this is out a good rolling boil which I believe it is that's what I call a healthy rolling boil alright so get this off the fire let that cool down here's the Java press we're going to be using this is about right around 30 bucks this is getting sold for here's the innards what you expect to see from a French press screen down here to get all the coarse ground coffee press to the bottom so you're not drinking any of that obviously and then you have this other component component you have a handle on the outside that's just a sleeve on this plastic recyclable plastic bpa-free definitely don't need something like this to make coffee but it's always nice to have the little luxuries like a French press in the forest so let's get this coffee in here now and some decaf I do drink caffeinated coffee but not too often last winter so I got addicted to it stopped drinking for a few days has some crazy headaches and I said nope no more caffeine every day so decaf and this is from our local roaster coffee roaster in the city little lamps got some banging coffee some really great coffee not much in here I could just dump it but top of that I want to showcase show you this new spoon I have only one of them we have two of them this is a spoon from Cara Del AK the hexer dau rustic Works card ow anyways there'll be uh all the appropriate links in the description walnut spoon gorgeous I have our cooks cuz she carved me wonder when she's going to get tired of a tired of us plugging her work there's a healthy one there's a healthy and since it's decaf we'll just put a whole bunch in I think that's really how it works but Pam one more for good measure

vigorous pour get all this course grounds turning let those rise see if we get a nice bloom give that a stir let that sit for about four minutes then we'll press it and drink I believe this press holds 30 fluid ounces on the ground so since settled it appears about 30 ounces and it weighs the system weighs right over 10 ounces which isn't bad and I'm not taking this back packing and but it's convenient for a day out in the woods nice to have some French press coffee can make cowboy coffee and just the pushpot and just the gimmick some cowboy coffee which might do a video on that but not today just sit this doodad on the up there is it going to stay idle rest get that another minute so we're press it and pour and enjoy alright let's press this puppy slow but steady one thing I have noticed about this I definitely almost get some spillage every single time because this cap rotates you see sort of locket flicking down the spout and there's this arrow here when I line it up obviously it allows it to be poured if you just don't have it perfect it doesn't come out this spout super clean you'll have some drips so we'll see if we can make it perfect today and not make a mess kuks car ready we've seen this a lot gorgeous or just would work

well that's freezing cold just kidding that's hot mmm something about drinking coffee out of a wood wooden cup definitely just ain't T changes the taste so classic check out that burl mmm cherry burl decaf coffee look at that hand hold definitely not one to become too attached to two things or objects but yeah I do love this cup this cooks go so I mean this is a pretty cool pretty cool press convenient way to have to have nice coffee out here not glass not going to shatter it's up to you if you're going to carry this type of thing or backpacking or just for the day I do I don't mind carrying a little bit extra weight if I have you know a few luxuries because we film outside all the time we're outdoors all the time and having a once in a while something you know it's bordering on luxury as opposed to you know it's something you don't need it's nice to bring that coffee press out and just have some French press coffee you have any questions about that press anything like that you know leave a comment let me know what you think about the video hope you enjoyed it it's Kirk signing out with blak outdoors later Turtles you
