hey what's up Turtles Creek here today we're going to be taking a look at its jacket I'm wearing it's the Greenland special edition number one from fjällräven this was sent to us from failed or even us hope I'm pronouncing that correctly please one of our Swedish subscribers tell me how bad I'm saying it alright but either way let's start let's take a look at some of the some of the specs of this jacket I guess we'll just start first off the price it's $300 this is a special edition jacket of the Greenland what that means is this is the replica of the original jacket from 1968 which sort of kick-started or jumped off the company it's made of the Eco g1000 which can still be waxed but the Eco refers to that the polyester in this is recycle recycle polyester in the in the cotton is organic so that's going to jump up the price a little bit and you have leather trim which is not on the regular Greenland jacket start looking at some of the features that's a scare the cuffs one button right there one adjustment length little gusset right there simple as you can get that's on both sides so the only two pockets on the exterior this jacket or in general or these breast pockets and this is what separates this special edition Greenland versus the other just Greenland jacket is that you just have these breast pockets here you don't have any pockets by the waist and I'll talk about that a little bit later but you do have two breast pockets here same snaps pocket goes down to right here it's a good size pocket snap on there same thing on this side I want to have a snap but you can see there's no lining on the stack and no insulation no interior lining and to me that means it's just a shell

so I sized up I'm usually a medium I always check measurements and I really appreciate when companies put measurements on their website because we're doing online shopping at best we're guessing educated ly so I size up to a large I'm usually a medium it offers some water resistance as is and some wind resistance and it works really well but the waxing can use on you that's going to increase both of those but it will decrease the breathability take a look at the closure system on this jacket now single zipper on this which obviously zippers and then you have snaps and personally I find myself using snaps or buttons way more than a zipper if there's if there's two zippers on a jacket it makes it really really versatile almost like yeah buttons you can open up the bottom top sort of configure it how you want to I do want to get the zippered up though and talk about the hood and sort of the neck warming capabilities of the jacket there's a really nice hood on this with no draw closure but before I talk about the hood I want to show say your necks getting a little chilly you just want to button it up and you don't want to put the hood up you can see it comes up pretty high on the face right below the chin it's a really nice feature but if you do want the hood up it's kind of goofy or really almost impossible to put it up as your snap this high not a big deal all right yes I'm do a couple pop the hood up you can see the leather trim again which is different than the regular green the jacket and there's no drawstring like I mentioned but when you get this all buttoned up you sort of get that scuba style hood I've seen it called or it's really form-fitting there's really not a lot of slack at all around your head you can see how that's really form-fitting to my head and it's really nice you don't need a drawstring and I have a beanie on there's still plenty of space if I were if I were going to I am going to wax this jacket and one of the places I'm going to wax it is going to be the top of the hood and definitely the back of it but that's really really all the features I wanted to go over today with this jacket I've been wearing this jacket for I don't know

how long it's been now but I received a couple questions from from viewers and you know who you are asking about what I felt about the pockets not being on this jacket as opposed to the Greenland jacket which the which does have pockets down here more in the vein of a filled jacket and my thought when that is I would have prefered I prefer jackets with more pockets I understand why it's not on this jacket this is sort of the paying homage to the original design really for people that were trekking and mountaineering is that when you have waist belt or harnesses these pockets down here are basically rendered useless when you have some sort of contraption going around your waist so you understand why jackets built like this but if you do want the Eco material and you know the leather trim and you do want to pay homage and have that original style jacket you know then this is great but just for practicality and whatever it is nice to have more pockets I'm just going to you know just leave it at that I just want to thank fjällräven again for sending this jacket over us to test and evaluate this isn't that last time you're going to see this jacket I'm going to continue wearing it into the winter see how it holds up as a shell I'm going to wax it we're going to talk about the wax in a more specific video I don't really want to go too much into it for the sake of having this video too long so thank you if you're even you asked for saying this jacket go check out their website check out all the awesome gear they're making in I believe a very unique material that you just don't see in the outdoor industry and that's the g1000 in its very various forms which is able to be waxed so if you have any questions about this jacket or want to know any more of my opinions about anything leave a comment yeah this is this is crepe with black owl enjoy the woods Turtles
