Coffee On The Ridge | A Day Hike in the Mountains

Description

Krik & stony head into the mountains for a relaxing winter hike. Despite the temperatures being unseasonably warm, they still whipped up a kuksa of coffee over an open fire flame.

we're out here today coming to the woods for a special treat for that tree we drank a coffee today I don't drink coffee all the time so today I thought it'd come out do a little like test out some equipment darker than bean juice go a little bit more bushcraft traditional today and using a lot of stuff I made and other ma Goods I'm a bottle sling water for the coffee and brand new haversack I just made our first haversack I am so happy with this got a really good deal on this oil oil leather from from Tandy but I'm super super happy with this haversack it is so friggin cool sob a right now but we'll take a look at this some more once we once we get stop and start making some coffee but I just want to pack up and go how this parking lot head to the forest it looks like we had a little bit of a trail crew out here that's kind of cool you see they probably took a hazard tree down it's probably standing right here by the trailhead I can tell because there's a stump right over here and there's a big depression when they ripped off part of this dead tree right here until his chainsaw there's a bunch of there's a bunch of sawdust all over here I appreciate that for sure thank you trail crew oh yeah this is really cool see a lot of this up here I don't know what type of wood this is but there's a fungus I believe that turns the wood like this teal green almost and I think like historically speaking I know this is sort of prized on Europe I believe I'm not even going to try to speak specifically on that but I know wood like this was super highly prized for like inlays and artwork and all types of stuff like that yeah back in the day it's just really cool color that you really wouldn't expect to see on wood it's on the trail and it definitely just caught my eye cool little find cool find obviously I need to get a fire going today but I'm going to use my ember lit stove but I want to try some pine because we're at the top of the mountain right now and a lot more pines grow up top here then when we're normally in the valley bottom and I know Pines really great for feather staking and that's how I kind of want to get the fire going so I just want look for most straight section this might be a little bit too far past let me see that'll work well this will work well you see how nice that feather stick feathered yeah keep this one oh yeah so I think this might be a good spot to stop and have have some warm drink some outcroppings over there I think it looks like it might be some down logs to rest on so kind of bust off the trail and go explore every yonder so looks like there's a little depression up here with some not really outcroppings as much as I thought but definitely some features on this bleak mountaintop

anyways let's keep going on I'm gonna investigate yeah I think the actually might be a spot this log down right here might be a it's not really flat it might be semi flat enough for the stove but uh let's go check it out there I want to push her push away some of these leaves see how flat it is here so I do need stir stay stable I'm having fire so I want to make sure all these leaves anyway yeah I think this over I'm pretty happy with the spot now so what I want to do is is put my stuff down and go collect a little bit of firewood which is going to take long because there's plenty of little branches right here it's convenience of having that ember lit Stoke

all right so got my water right here it boiled but it was potable water from the get-go I was just testing out the stove in general letting that cool down to a more manageable temperature so I can make a good French press today did I get a good bloom something's happening that's pretty much all one to do today's come out here drink some ding some coffee enjoy a vice that I don't treat myself too often and just enjoy it just enjoy this winter day so until the next video
