it was up Turtles Creek here I want to share with you a quick tip today on how I die out or tie out my tarps so as you can see I pretty much have my tarp entirely set up with the exception of one guideline so step one is I have my guidelines already tied to my tarp and my tarp is packed with these rolled up neat in the stuff sack I'm going to be using a stake today that I made you could use a store-bought at stake a rock works well with this even a log as you can see that went up really easy and the tensioning because of the loop I'm putting on there makes setup like I said just that much easier and faster now use a taut line hitch in the end of the skyline to accomplish what I want and right here it is this is the important part here it is this is the taut line hitch or midshipman's hitch and for reference in the ashley book of knots that's number 1730 what this allows me to do is this slides on the static part of my guide line which then increases the size of this loop but then when tensions on it it stays in place let me show you that around the stake one more time I'm going to take the hitch apart now and show you actually how to tie it so to do this hitch we're going to come the end of my guide line and this is going to be our working end and this will be the static line that is attached to the tarp so I'm going to do is take my end put it over the static line once and then wrap it through that loop reef created and then wrap it again over standing in and then through the loop whoops and then through the loop one more time and then we have something that looks like that and now we're going to take our working end go over do we have something that looks like that and then this space where my index finger is I'm going to take our working in and go through that

I will show you it looks like I just need to make it tight a little bit and essentially there is the hitch now I need to tighten this up because it will come undone but with a lot of knots and hitches cleaning it up is always the last step

having my guideline set up like this allows me to allows me to basic go around an anchor with the loop where I don't have to tie anything but the fact that it's adjustable loop allows me to change the tension on my tarp if I need to maybe that's too tight for where I have it I want to back some off I just slide the hitch down a little bit and take some pressure off of the tarp so I really think this is an effective way to store and keep your guidelines tied in a certain way just for fast appointment so if you have any other tips or tricks of setting up a tarp fast really versatile ways to set up a tarp let me know I'm really interested in X I'm always looking for new information on setting up my sleep system until the next video this is Creek with black outdoors later Turtles
