hey what's up Turtles it's Crick here with blackout outdoors and today I'm going to be doing an overview of the van quest toll cat V Packer shoulder carry bag this is the right side carries on the right side of my body van Quest is selling this bag for $69.99 on their website this is the black color option and I believe there are three additional color options available so the bag weighs one and a half pounds empty constructed a thousand D corridor it features YKK zipper tracks with paracord poles the tracks are reversed meaning it has a piece of material over the track which gives a nice nice little a protection against debris getting in your tracks and or in your pocket which is really a nice feature to see on packs two pockets on the outside here one on the front flap this is big enough see you got a out toy container in here a couple bands on it definitely more room for this pocket two zippers on this a little bit of webbing on the outside of this pocket again the same sort of pocket mirror on this side and this is an EDC bag could be used for hiking so as a small haversack style if you will part of a hook and loop system here to put a name tape patches anything you see fit on the top here of the flap nice neoprene grab grab handle I just like neoprene like the way it feels in the hand we have a small zipper stash pocket that is actually part of the flap in there I just have a hankerchief never liked to put anything bulky in here me personally I just like to keep this flap relatively flat running on the actual shoulder strap again I have my carabiner tucked behind some webbing to potential spots the hook for my here there and the bigger one behind it on the other side where the shoulder strap meets the bag I have more jammed in there right now the little Ferro rod carrier that I made some Ranger bans fits nice in there and I do get a little bit of contact with this webbing right here as I Jam this in there I can get it behind it a little bit a little bit difficult as I'm wearing it to do it but nonetheless holds it well the shoulder strap buckle is the one that's been featured on all the van quest bags I've done I think this is maybe the third bag review I've done a review of there's two hand opening system push down this part and then engaged never really an issue to do it two hands as you can see if I don't do that first one will not come undone won't open up to inch buckle our two inch strap excuse me and a two inch buckle nice soft actual shoulder pad running on this which is adjustable nice a little bit of textured rubberized material here to keep it on the shoulder where you want it some padding as well three three points of hook and loop to be able to slide this up and down and this is adjustable the shoulder strap itself depending when your length of your torso and/or width on the inside of the bag now the main compartment this 210 D ripstop nylon I really like this color I'm not sure what it is but it's a really nice contrast with the black cord lock to open that up the storm flap and just for comparison I'm there just my tommy bag I made has my cook pot in there and inside of that there is some high vis orange there's one here you if you can see it there's a stuffed pocket right in here sash pocket and there's another one on the opposing side at the inside kind of hard to see these black bags really don't translate well to video but an idea to get size this is a 775 milliliter pot fits really nice and snugly in there definitely room from some more and I don't have this packed as specifically as I would carry depending on the adding as an EDC for urban and/or hiking but this is just to give a general idea of what you can put in the pack what fits and on the front of the bag that is covered by the flap is a small pocket or not small actually a decently sized pocket with a stuffed capability on the front here I don't anything in it right now could fit another I guess small notebook but inside this pocket two zippers again I have a write in the rain all-weather notebooks stuffed inside there this is pretty much the max size that's gonna fit in this pocket and inside the pocket there's two stuff pockets or say I have a mother small right in the rain behind this one but again that hive is ripstop nylon is in here to stuff pockets one here one here imposing sides and this does also feature a hip belt which I'm a huge fan of for these bags the back of the bag has this nice soft material not really padded and feel the pot poking through there but nonetheless on these bags padding in my experience the ones I've used Maxpedition having a little bit of padding and the van Quest not really don't miss the padding not really necessary but if it's there it's not going to hurt I really liked the hip belt on these packs huge fan wouldn't like them if they didn't have them because I am gonna carrying this actually wearing this on my body and carrying it for a distance the hip belt was really great to keep it secure I also take a little bit of weight off my shoulder this is the smaller of the V packer as opposed to the Mobius I've done reviewing which has a water bottle pocket it's a little bit bigger in general and a little bit more weight can be used for it the hip belt really great but nonetheless this one has it I'm glad to see it and it is adjustable as you see I'm kind of layered up now because it is winter and it's cold and this hip belt actually isn't big enough to go around as I have it to adjust it pullover through there really simple easy to adjust on the go grab the other end and a cord carry at the end of here and that's basically the ins and outs of the bag now while I like this style of bag as one is because it's small carry really you know tailor the gear you want to carry you're not carrying a big pack on your shoulders so you're really only going to take what you're gonna carry for me personally calling these type of packs and EDC pack which they are excuse me but for me personally water is a part of my EDC that's why I like the bigger Mobius because it does have a pocket for a water bottle very a large pocket for 40 32 ounce now gene Klean Kanteen their size a bottles so for me personally if I'm looking for a bag for an EDC I'm gonna pick one that I can carry water just because that's as part of what I like to carry a metal container and water with me everywhere but nonetheless this is still a cool little pack something to keep in the car keeping the rig you can definitely have a decent amount of you know small ticket items eight your comfort for if you are going to hike with this and or just keep in the car shuffle it around inside buildings house all that and I really like I didn't wanna touch on it yet but I really like this pool that van quest has has put on the V Packer just to cinch this down because if I was gonna there's not too much slack in this but there is extra room for bulk so to keep everything tight if it was it's a really nice consistent and smooth pool on these I believe all the hardware's Douro flex thousand d is coated in Teflon fabric protector making this water repellent I'm just really really happy with fan quest as a company the stuff they're putting out the quality it's been consistent on the different bags in their line right now and I want to thank Alex again at van quest for sending us this gear and giving us the opportunity to work with them and in addition if you do like this bag what can we be doing a giveaway with this bag so stay
