hey what's up turtles creek here with black ow outdoors before i get into today's video i just want to give a little background in setting where we are this past week's Tony and I had friends visiting from out of town they decided to take an impromptu camping trip but they didn't really have any equipment so we threw a whole bunch of stuff into the cars and came out camp for the night actually the one gal it was her first time sleeping outdoors that's always exciting being with someone you know and they're experiencing something for the first time but moving on the reason we're doing this video is because I want to share with you a tent the Big Agnes Jackrabbit sl1 which was sent to us from sierra trading post and sierra trading post has been a longtime supporter of black owl and if you're unfamiliar with sierra trading post they're basically like an online retailer that have a lot of overstocked or colors that didn't sell or last year's model for like all types of outdoor pursuits I can't even can't even list them all but you really really get good deals with them and this tent was a really good deal for them so without without further rambling let's get into this big agnes 10 all right so here's the tent and everything that came with it there is a footprint in here what you'll see that but this is the big agnes Jackrabbit sl1 which it says down here at the bottom of the of the tent stuff sack and basically it's ultra light one person tent packed wait it's about three and a half pounds you have the pulls over here one vestibule but all that will make sense once i get it and set it up so let's set it up this tent full price from Big Agnes was right around three hundred and twenty dollars and the discounted price on sierra trading post was like like 110 dollars cheaper than that so just to reiterate from the site you really really get good deals on a lot of quality products you really do so i got the tent body down sitting on top of the footprints the next step is to get the tent poles out and i want to show you the tent poles because this design of this tent and the poles are one of the reasons why i liked it i'm going to go over all the key features of why i liked this tent specifically because i don't believe it's being manufactured anymore in this capacity or at all but the features i'm going to point out are the most important reasons of why i chose this tent so you have basically one entire pole there's a hub here and a hub here which makes it really nice for setup

I mentioned earlier that there's a few few features I want to point out why I chose this tent and one of them being right now is what I call browse pull basically it's just going to give you a little more headroom and open up a certain part of the tent the basic this goes right where the door is it's almost like a ball socket it clicks in there and on the other sides the same deal and basically just gives you a little bit more room because this is a one person tent and they're they're small by nature there are a few pockets on the inside of the tent it is compatible for a gear loft or attic whatever whatever term you use for that but here's one pocket and there is another one on the other side as well it's kind of nice having pockets that are up off the ground of the ten because you can kind of crowded in your sleeping space so is this kind of kind of neat feature before I get the rain fly when I want to touch on a few things real quick you can see how fast that went up and the tent body just connects to the polls via these clips really nice convenient really easy secure you know super user friendly as before I said is the hub design so you have the pole was coming into this hub right here this is the this really strong plastic hub and these poles are DAC aluminum I believe there are feather-light press-fit strong in late so the tent comes with eight stakes and I do believe you could use more for this and I'll show you that once I get it up and go over the guidelines but they also come in a with their own stuff sack and one of the other reasons I do really like this tent shows this is because of the colors they're more neutral and earth tone which I like so I just want to make sure the footprint is secure with the tent and go through both of these little loops I am all right let's get this here rain fly out just really super easy attachment just like a three prong clip goes right in snaps in super super super super super easy one of the other reasons I was really interested in this tent is because it had a vent you can see it's sort of hang in there right now and it's really simply too simple to do this is just a little really just a rod sewn into some nylon hook and loop at the top put that little brace bar and it promotes air flow and that's really important for for trying to combat condensation and something I didn't know until the first time I use this which I did take it back packing and dolly sods in West Virginia was that there is reflective material on these guidelines which is really really nice at night and now I'm just going around the tent guying out the sides and ends which will just help promote air flow at night when you in there breathing you're you're hot moist breath can cause condensation so it's important to do this for airflow with etat and/or to combat condensation yeah I did mention earlier that there were only eight stakes and that you had potential to use more and you can see out here there's a guy line hanging here and another one right here so only eight were included you have two more I've yet to use these two right here anytime I've used this tent and never felt like it was necessary it's been pretty secure with as is but I just wanted to just wanted to mention that because this is a one

person tent and so shut especially ultralight backpacking there's only one door in one vestibule and the vestibule is just big enough for me to put my you know backpacking bag depending what trip it was or is it's just enough to cover it it's not that big and I wish it was a little bit bigger but that's just the trade-off for having an ultralight tent so there's a toggle right in frame and I'm rolling up the tent just to show you depending on the weather your mood all that you can roll up the door and toggle it open and if this doesn't suit your need you could also unhook it from the stake down here and continue rolling come on that wants to go another toggle and then you can see from the front of the tent you get a wide open view you get a lot of air flow and just really nice if it's you know agreeable weather at the moment nice little feature the zippers really smooth to use on the tent on the door excuse me and just want to make comment that it's a pretty small door you know it's not too small for me I'm about 59 5 feet 9 inches and you know if my boots are wet I'm trying to get in here it's it's a little bit cramped but again that's the trade-off we're having an ultralight one person tent now that the tents all set up you can see I was pretty easy and I just want to go over again the features that I really like about this tent why I chose this tent because this tent is not being made anymore you still may be able to find them online but to me the features were more important than the specific you know product name of this specific tent the first feature i really liked about this was the color option it was the maroon the maroon accents here in the tent you can see and just a subdued almost I don't even know what color you want to call this but it's almost like a really light lime green mixed with white I don't know but the color was a big factor for me for choosing this tent the second feature for why I really like this tent and chose it was this browse pole as I mentioned earlier it just opens up this portion of the tent and just gives you a little more head space if you're sitting inside of it because if you do spend a lot of time in this it's raining that little bit of space can make the difference between comfort and crazy and the last feature why I chose this tent was this vent right here condensation is a big problem in your when you're camping a lot so the more airflow you have the better your rest will be in the less work you have to do in the morning to dry out your potentially wet gear that's all I have to really say about the tent at this time I would like to thank sierra trading post again for sending this really awesome backpacking tent over it's served me really really well one

the backpacking trip I took it on if you have any questions of anything I went over let me know just correct signing out with blackout outdoors later turtles
