sup Turtles its Creek here with blackout outdoors and today I'm going to be doing a review on the exped air matte 7.5 the pad retails for I think $40 around $40 packs down

I had this - about 8 inches by 4 inches weighs 17 ounces this is a regular size and measures 72 inches by 19 inches and inflates to a thickness of 3 inches and this is a non non insulated pad and like all Exped sleeping mats it has an inflate valve and a deflate valve on the underside of the pad these flat valve they call it patent pending and I'll keep the keep the camera running just to show how fast I can get this pad blown up

I don't know maybe that was inside of a minute so no time at all to get it blown up and while I'm on the topic of valves on the inflate valve there's this little plastic knob I guess you could say and if you found you've inflated the pad way too much to your liking to release a little bit controlled amount of air you just take your finger and press on this we can hear it on the camera and hear air coming out of it and then you can adjust the hardness of of the pad by doing that it's a really cool feature I like about this ex pad and these valves are also compatible with the exped hand or foot pump but as you can seen see how fast I've inflated this pad with just my lungs a hand pump or a foot pump is definitely not necessary the whole shell of the pad is a polyester the top here this is the top surface it's a brushed polyester to give a little softer feel if your skin's gonna come in contact with the mat at night glued seems really strong durable but what keeps this weather proofed and keeps the glue intact when the seams is a laminated polyurethane the whole pads laminating polyurethane

and there's also a repair kit included there's a repair kit included with the pad which unfortunately I cannot find at the moment which is a bummer but there's adhesive and um patches included in the repair kit in like all sleeping inflatable sleeping mats or pads you have to make the decision for yourself that if you're gonna backpack with this and by chance it becomes punctured and you're unable to fix it in the field and the pads pretty much gonna be rendered useless so it's something to keep in mind if this is your only type of insulating material between you and the ground when you when you're camping the reason why I like this had initially why I bought it was the price I think sense is $40 it's very affordable what keeps it so cheap is that it's not insulated but not being insulated it also allows us to pack down very small with just less material you know insulated material inside the mat itself so it's a it's a you know kind of a trade-off but to add a little bit more insulation while you're sleeping not from the pad if say if you have an extra mid layer you can throw underneath the pad under your torso or in between you and the pad or the pad in the ground which weight will help a little bit keep you warmer and keep you off the ground there's a reason why I don't use this pad anymore because this is the regular the width is 19 inches and it's just too narrow for me like I said when I lay down flat on my back on this pad my arms hang off the side which is very uncomfortable to sleep so I find myself sleeping on my side a lot on this pad which is okay but I got a new an REI Stratos and a large which is a bigger width in length which helps a lot but I'm keeping this pad because the quality of it I might wreak if that out another time you know still use it you know here there but all in all it's a really quality pad Exped makes great products and yeah so this is the exped air matte 7.5 and this is Creek signing out with blak outdoors stay safe Turtles
