hey what's up Turtles Creek here with blackout outdoors

we're going to be looking at the sea otter even cod pack 58 litre backpacking bag this is the pine green color option it's selling for three hundred dollars and it is made of g1000 heavy duty which is a mix of recycled polyester and organic cotton now looking at some of the features of this pack we're going to start at the top you can see g1000 right here and with all g1000 it can be waxed for increased wearability and offers some more water resistance and i really really really do like this g1000 now this bag weighs four and a half pounds but you know for me having this all this extra g1000 on the bag make it a little more durable than a lite ripstop i'll take that extra weight looking at the top pocket on the brain or lid just your standard zipper pocket but what's included in this bag which I really like to see from fjällräven is a un blue ring cover it's always nice to see included in bags that are meant to be using the elements let's have a beanie up top there too you put anything in this anything in this pocket we've been going to the front of the bag see the fjällräven logo right here this is leather and something a really cool detail that I want to point out is it looks like they use a wax thread to sew on this leather because I used wax thread for my leather projects so I just thought that was kind of cool a neat little detail and you know everything's in the details right cool you see this real long zipper covered zipper track right here and this is nice for you know putting your map if you're ordering tearing or you know I have my notebook in there I like always carrying a notebook with me for writing down thoughts drawing anything like that this is a nice pocket for you know thin rain gear anything like that and being that this is a top-load bag meaning everything is generally loaded from the top they do have an included zipper right here which allows you to get into the bottom of the pack and up top here there's a buckle that keeps the lid down and if you trace that down to here there's a couple loops for tools ice axe pretty standard for your backpacking hiking bags taking a look at the side of the bag now have my water bottle right here compression strap keeping that into place there's another compression strap up above that you'll see on the other side how this top one comes in handy besides just keeping the content secure but going back down to the side pocket I have my water bottle in there right now let me take that out so you can see the details of the pocket you can see right here there's extra material right here it's not just this mesh the whole way down which is nice because I'm going to using my water bottles in this which I have been using it this material might stretch out over time having a heavy water bottle in there so it's a nice feature what I'm getting out having this extra material the bottom and there actually is a cord lock on this to be able to cinch this pocket tighter look at that though you see that it's not keeping it tight though looks like something maybe issue with that cord lock pulling it tight just not grabbing we'll see if it's doing the same thing on the other side I believe it's probably just in the spring spring might be fatigued and it shouldn't have been shouldn't have been at this point on the other side I really like carrying tent poles like this on the outside of my bag up on backpacking so I could have the stakes in there too but having that second compression straps it's nice just to keep this secure but let's test and see if this cord lock on this side has the same issue as the one on the other side so that one held that one held push that down pull it up spring opens up so that one held so I'm going to mess around the other one see if me if it's just stuck or something goopy happened but this one seems to be working fine moving on to the back of the pack we look at the suspension system now and this is only you know or this is a fixed suspension system meaning it's not adjustable it's really only for one torso size I'm five nine hundred sixty-five pounds will see this pack once it's on me and you can make that decision if you think it'll fit you but there also are women versions and cuts of this pack which the suspension system will change a little bit up top here there is load lifters on each shoulder strap there's also slack right here for the brain or top lid that you can really raise this up depending how you're packing the bag grab handle right here have some padding up here for the top of your shoulders shoulder blades really comfortable sticking off about about a half an inch from right here you have an adjustable sternum strap with integrated whistle you can see how the sternum strap rides on this piece of nylon right here so we're just like a rail adjustable and you have a nice comfortable lumbar pad right here this pack has been really comfortable and I'll talk more about my impressions once we get through all of these features you have a pocket on each side of the hip belt which is large enough definitely to be useful on there one on this side as well and the buckle really nice positive block up now start looking on the inside of the pack there is a small pocket underneath this brain which I'm showing right now I just have my compass floating in there right now nice place to store compass most likely if you're going to be orienteering or anything like that it'll be around your neck but just to give a size reference for the pocket you have this strap coming over the top of the bag just to help secure the load even more and then you have this redundancy that you've seen a lot of packs meaning you have a cinch up top here so I think they call like a snow collar storm flap something like that either one right there the second one open that up see how much farther that opens I want to get everything out of the bag now and show you what I have in it it isn't completely precisely packed for everything I take on a backpacking trip but all the essentials are pretty much there and this is just to give you sort of give you a size reference for what's in the pack right now what you can carry

take a look at the stuff I pulled out in my bag remember this isn't everything I'd have on a backpacking trip and this wasn't really packed efficiently but this is for you no spatial spatial idea this is a dry bag that I take food in it's really nice because I can hang it from a tree then straps for my hammock hammock straps this is just a vest a warmer layer vest I really really love wearing this vest I really do stove fuel stove fuel my cooking pot inside here is top cancer stove and a stove feed this is my one person backpacking tent Big Agnes backpacking tent you already saw the poles and stakes on the outside of my bag in here I have my water filtration kit inflatable sleeping pad it's an extra pair of pants for whatever this is a waterproof softshell jacket mounting hardware I really like this really like this jacket as well and at the end I have my down sleeping bag colder weather down sleeping bag couple more things I want to touch on on the bag this bag is hydration compatible you see there's a little pocket sleeve right there to put the bladder in have this buckle right here to hang your bladder keep it upright in your bag and if you see where my finger is coming in the bag the tube exits over here the frames back in here there are two stays there's one right here my fingers tracing there's another one over here and then there's hard plastic as well running down the length of this and I mentioned this earlier but there is a bottom access to the bag with these really nice loop finger pulls I really really like these on bags I really do and this is really big zipper track down here and what's nice about having this as second access to the bag is that if you're setting up camp or anything and your sleeping bags down here you want to get everything you're sleeping you're sleeping gear set up you don't have to you know pull everything out from the top you can just grab this there is no divider internal divider with this main compartment which you'll see sometimes if there's a sleeping bag compartment the bottom of the bag they'll be a option and put a divider up but this just goes the whole way through now I want to get the bag all packed back up and put it on and talk a little bit more about it those were the order events I always go through when I'm getting a pack on for backpacking as you've seen and this bag is really comfortable and you can see how it's sitting on my body so I'm about 5 feet 9 inches 165 pounds and as I mentioned before this is really only a one size pack so for you bigger torsos folks out there I'm not sure if this is going to fit but that's reality a final impact that's comfortable right packs really comfortable to my body I get a lot of contact all the way down from my lumbar up to my shoulder pads I can just feel it really hugs my body and sort of a personal bias not bias but why I like fjällräven products and the packs I've tried because they just fit my body really well and for me that's like number one when I'm looking for a pack features really don't matter as much if it's not comfortable with that being said it's packs really comfortable but one thing I do want to make mention of is the fact that there are no straps on the bottom of the bag I never really use the bottom straps of a bag for a sleeping bag which a lot of them are built as but I used a lot for put ground tarps or things that are wet or trash or something because I'm not a real big fan of attaching things all over the outside of my pack but the bottom I really really like the option to be able to strap things to this bag doesn't have that so enclosing birds are noisy today I love filming outdoors I really do alright so in closing the things I really love about this pack and fjällräven in general I hope I said that right they make a lot of their other gear clothing packs and earth-tone colors and I love that I really really love that and I understand the I guess the reason why some companies make really brightly high contrast in packs because it's sort of a safety thing in the backcountry if you have a brightly colored gear you get in trouble people can find you understand that but the fact that they make earth-tone colors I'll just carry something bright brightly colored if I need to signal right you can just see how it blends in the forest this is awesome this pine green color they have is just awesome the packs really comfortable and the first time I started using it and you might be able to hear it maybe not but there's a slight little almost creak in the plastic and it hasn't really worked itself out yet I don't know if it will this is just you know initial impressions overview type thing I have a one of my Gregory bags that sort of does the same thing it never worked itself out but it's never been an issue for me while backpacking or hiking with it never been an issue to hear that little bit of like basically just material kind of rubbing together almost like a plasticy squeak not high pitched but but it's they're something worth mentioning I already mentioned about the fact that there's no straps on the bottom of the bag not a deal-breaker for me but I would like to see them they're honestly for the price of this bag I feel like that could have been included because it is just such a such a simple design sort of that cord lock acting goofy already on that side that side pocket not sure what's up about that I mean it's plastic it doesn't really take away in the function of that pocket because it's already sort of tight at the top you know but again something worth mentioning so if you have any questions about anything I didn't go over or any comments you'd like to add about fiala different products in general or if you have the Chi pack and you've used it I'd love to hear your impressions I do want to thank the folks over at a fjällräven us you sent this pack over to us

I do encourage you to go check out their gear because honestly I might sound like a Salesman I don't want to because but I really do love their gear their material choice their color choice their quality you know I like gear you like gear you're watching this video because of that and in my mind they do stand apart from from a lot of other a lot of other gear companies so in closing again thank you if you are even for saying this pack over this is correct signing out with blackout outdoors

later Turtles

you
