New Balance Minimus MO10 | Barefoot Multisport Shoe | Field Review

Description

Krik of Black Owl Outdoors reviews the New Balance Minimus MO10 Barefoot running shoe. While Krik doesn't use the Minimus to trail run, which it is capable of, he uses them to serve as modern day moccasin. The Minimus' light weight and dexterity all them to serve as a segway to pure barefoot walking, or as a safer alternative. The Minimus offer little in the way of ankle support, and are gravel roads can be uncomfortable to say the least. But the Minimus excel at log crossings and areas of precise balance, and can even be used as an impromptu water shoe. They weigh next to nothing and pack down small; making them perfect camp shoes.

hey what's up Turtles its Creek here with black outdoors today I'm gonna be doing a review on these shoes I'm wearing right now which are the New Balance minimus this particular model is the M zero one zero retails for 120 bucks

I definitely got these way cheaper at outlet store New Balance for about sixty bucks and these are sort of tagged as multi sport shoes this is the this is the color it comes in and I'm gonna stop myself this is and aside to black it out I think it looks better but these are the multi sports shoes as minimus goes and what that means is there's a four millimeter heel to toe drop the thickness of the sole in the front of my foot is about one centimeter in the back it's 14 14 millimeter is 1.4 centimeter and that's a little bit thicker than a lot of tremendum estrella shoes a run so wise because these are like I said tagged as a multi sports shoe which you can wear which you can wear I'm gonna in colder months if you want where there's you know we're just the air temperatures colder the grounds Cora off you a little bit more insulation from the ground as you know as a minimus Ken but why I got these shoes is I've sort of adopted the the forefront running style a few years ago where I run and I land on the balls of my feet at the forefront of my foot it's kind of demonstrating here is what that would look like if I'm one flat or an incline if I'm going downhill obviously I'm going to land with my heel first but if I'm on flat ground or on an incline I'm gonna land on the front of my foot and that doesn't look like I'm you know tiptoeing around as I'm running it's more of a subtle movement when you get used to it but this is why I sort of like these shoes because they're really light I have a lot in this toe box area here there's a lot of extra room for my foot to move around you can see I'm wiggling all my toes and there's actually no obstruction in here so when I press on the ground is spread a distrophy were in a tight shoe when you press imagine these are your toes the shoes you want to keep your feet together but when you have more space in your foot box when you press on their forefoot your toes allowed to open up more as asked you know back more like fingers to help grip around the ground so that's what this sort of towards me wearing these shoes and you can see I'm walking around this log feel completely comfortable on the side of it go down into the squat come right back up really comfortable and these really help like I said they're light I think they're great around seven ounces each get a quick of the sole the lugs a Vibram sole it's really do a good job and evolve and you don't want to wear these on concrete because it'll wear out so very quick as opposed out here on this organic we're gonna glue flat glitter and matter out here in the forest mm-hmm but and I also like to walk practice walking quiet in the woods and I think that really is made easier by wearing a light chute we can really feel everything underneath your foot and probably barefoot might be the best way but I'm not gonna try to be a barefoot person out in these forests it takes years to build up the feet to build up your skin and all that so to me this is the next best next best thing to offer a little bit protection for my foot and also that feel like I'm really not wearing anything on my foot I need to see the difference I just really like the fact that I colored out the black and or colored out the silver colored the vibram yellow here and that in the New Balance just to give it a more of a a matte in the forest I don't want really bright colors on my shoes and the blue has kind of a cool contrast they probably stand out but I just like it better with this being black but on all these were really cool shoes I really like them I can do a lot with them feel really comfortable just to move around all the trees really comfortable so you know supportive and freeing all at the same time this Creek starting out with black outdoors later Turtles
