Bahco Laplander | Bushcraft Folding Saw | Field Review

Description

Krik of Black Owl Outdoors reviews the ever popular Bahco Laplander Folding Saw. While it isn't the smalled folding saw on the market, when folded it is a mere 9 inches long, making it perfect to throw in your backpack for a camping trip or even a day hike.

what's up Turtles its Creek here black outdoors today I'm going to be doing a review on the bahco laplander holding salt

I believe it's named after for the region in Sweden Lapland northernmost part they can find this online for around $30 which is a good price in my opinion for the tool you're getting in the quality 9 inches close lengths right here the handles 9 inches so it's definitely small out to fit into a pack when it's closed it is it is locked because which is nice if you're going to pop pop in your Packer in a pocket that the teeth aren't going to be in jeopardy of coming out and grabbing some fabric tearing it which is nice well known wrist Lanyon here there's a nice leather thong I guess in a pinch you could also eat this if you needed to in a survival situation thus all opens up with this conveniently labeled button here that says press push this down releases the saw this is a 7-inch sole coated steel I'm not exactly sure the type of steel it is says made in Sweden I know Bakker is part of this group called SNA Europe which they do manufacture all over Europe for Ibaka's full line of hand tools which is very vast the stud the saw blade itself features as xt7 to thing 7 teeth per inch so cuts on the push and pull stroke which for efficiency's sake it's supposed to make a really nice really quick overall length as it is open here is a 16 inches 9 inch handle plus the 7 inch blade do some cuts with excess you know ultimately what it's going to be doing

and my Mario intended use for the saw is going to be going to be for firewood and you know depending on what your what you need what do you need to solve for like this cut keep doing some cuts up like I said I'm gonna be mostly using this for firewood and if you if you if you know room room and your kit for for a sole and Hansel that you need to cut some firewood with this would be a great addition or you can be doing some pruning around your house a great saw like this now if you were in a forest that you were gonna actually wanted to fell trees with with a handsaw a bow saw would be a better way to go but since I'm really only on public land I can't just cut down trees willy-nilly as I desire so I really don't have a use for a big hand so like that like I said most of this I'm doing firewood processing and if you just saw how this was moving around on me the branch was moving around how I'd really to stabilize anytime you can incorporate your both hands and your arms into the cut definitely better which I'll try to do right here on this this bigger piece that's a little bit jammed for the sake of balance using both hands keep your body balanced much easier much easier on me the amount of energy I'm expending balanced both my hands my arms are in the motion a little bit of vine thought your face camera really cut nice really cut nice I'll do another one down here take this guy off this tree use two hands again and I'm really big into the idea of keeping the body balanced and I'm naturally right-handed so there be times rod just stop and force myself to use my left hand to try to act to gain some extra coordination in my off hand side of my body but when I can use both hands like this I'm incorporating my left hand and I like doing this for it's much better it's really cutting light work I'm not even barely putting a lot of lot of pressure or energy into these cuts really sharp I really like it you're charged it might be right at its max diameter wise well try going out this right here and keep talking about the saw mm-hmm and as cutting tools go if you wanted to carry something like this in a backcountry setting this as a sole inherently inherently is much safer than a swinging tool as opposed to an axe or hatchet not taking anything away from either of those tools but for safety purposes this is much much much safer and you know if I want to do this with an ax or a hatchet it only would take a you know a brief second lapse in my concentration I can end up with you know a blade in my shin or worse so I'm a really big fan of saws when I don't need to use a swinging tool I really prefer

prefer using sauce something to keep in mind like I said not taking anything away from those tools they're very efficient in their own right have a multitude of uses and different uses but for safety if you're miles and miles from definitive care you want to process would the saw definitely be a safer safer tool to use get this in there you can see where's this maybe five and a half six inch diameter log in relation to the blade went through that nice and easy you can hear a little bit out of breath but could do this all day got this in me all day

smeared off writing on the saw your problem tools meant to be use this is correct sounding outback outdoors later Turtles
