good day Turtles this is Crick with black outdoors I'm going to be doing a review on the MSR mini works VX water filter the water filter retails at eighty nine ninety five it weighs fourteen point six ounces there is no output hose with this filter other filters of this type the katadyn hiker hiker pro has an output hose that goes into your container but this does not have that this feature or this particular setup is meant to screw on to a wide mouth now gene or anything with the wide mouth size and it also attaches to the MSR dromedary which is a really cool feature it's all contained if you have a bottle hanging you know there's no hose to worry about you know positioning in the container it's all contained the filter has a ceramic core ceramic filter with a carbon core and the carbons just for improving water quality taste the pore size in the filter alright yeah in the filter is 0.2 microns and to take the filter out to field clean it just push on the bottom and pull the filter out oh ring right here help seal what's great about this water filter is that it is completely filled cleanable with no tools you don't need to bring a wrench or a screwdriver or anything like that with you you can you can do it all in the field just by unscrewing and the troubleshooting if this filter is not working all of it says in the manual is clean clean clean check the filter I have actually clogged it the first time I used it a clog did I was trying to get water in a small mountain stream and the Rockies are choked by willow and wasn't quite paying attention keep the little sediment up and the clog get pretty easy on them but it's a quick fix you just pop the filter out use a little scrub that comes with or a toothbrush will work and

oh bugger my it's easy to clean in the field which is a great feature is why I'm going to recommend this product because the ease of cleaning it while you're out like I said it attaches to a widemouth bottle and here I have my Klean Kanteen widemouth version and the filter just screws on top now I'm ready to get water after I touch the intake hose of course and I have that the hose in a plastic bag just to keep it separate have this little foam piece attach the hose to you can adjust this to the depth you want it hanging in the water this little coil around it's just the you know filter sediment so stuff doesn't get stuck and this can be a little bit tricky getting this on you got to work it pop in her grip push it in now we're ready to get some water let's go get some I wanted to mention a few more things before I got water the the MSR will pump about one liter per minute assuming the filters clean

there's no clogs or obstructions and you can get that leader at about 80 roughly 80 strokes the katadyn hiker water filter which is a little bit lower price and quality compared to this many works you can get that liter per minute in forty some pumps ropes which means you know there's less resistance may be a higher pump flow one of the complaints about that many works water filter is there's you know more resistance than some users would like for the water filter but for me it's never been an issue an area of complaint you know for the ease of cleaning it in the field removing the ceramic filter which lasts you know up to two thousand liters a little bit of extra resistance it's not going to it's not a deal-breaker for me you know a little bit of resistance in life it's only going to make you stronger so yeah now I'm ready to get some water front a nice spot in the stream
