hey everyone first off this is not review this showing off one of my Christmas gifts

it's actually my very first k-bar now this is the k-bar u.s.n for US Navy mark 1 this is not your your typical big chopper that k-bar usually makes it's a in the description it's ace you know combat slash survival slash tactical kind of a knife but obviously I have not tried it yet but by the looks of it it will be a good all-around bushcraft knife anyway so let's just look a little bit at it comes with a Kydex sheath and you know as you can see it's got multiple ways of carry you know attachments

just on the Kydex look at all the lashings you can put on this and the excuse me the rest of the sheet back here got your belt here you can attach some clips to put on your bag it's got 3 points of where you can you know tie it secure it you got one here one here and the sheath itself right there now I find that there's too much of it ah you know this one here I would I want to put that one but you know what guys these people that do create these night it's always for a reason I know my guess is that this one here because it's a multiple carry if you'd want to carry it like this you know maybe this is more of a security but anyway by the way this is in the sense we always have to remember that K bar obviously make their knives you know the first idea is a combat knife right knife that you can defend yourself you know fighting and so on but still I just you know love this knife I just love how it looks love how it feels so on so forth so you did you know unattach this the top one here this one here and then what's pretty neat and most chaotic sheaths are very difficult to take the knife's out okay usually they're in by friction this one's not all you need to do is use your thumb on the other side or you know your fingers whatever and just push down be able to pull it pull it okay just push down now by looking at this and this way I told myself okay if it's that easy to get out maybe it'll be dangerous without these other securities up here okay so I made a test you know shake it like this to see if this is going to open up and actually it doesn't so that's pretty cool a knife that's in secure and easy to get out you can put it this attachment here can be luci okay at the back can be turned around or left side carry or the right side carry and the knife itself can go in both ways okay now the knife itself I don't know if I should say that because this is a k bar fighting knife but this blade I find it elegant I mean it's just beautiful it's five inches long and I guess the handle and the blade would be in overall you know nine nine and something anyway I don't have the specs the steel is carbon steel and it's epoxy coated very tough I know what for even though it's not a big knife this can be easily concealed at the same time you know being a tactical knife it's all black so there's nothing really shiny it comes pretty sharp now again the only thing concerning the blade is because it's a combat knife or a fighting knife it's not thick all the way right maybe halfway it become it tapers off here like this it's about oh it's a 3/16 of an inch thick the handle is pretty impressive it's a crate on it's a type of kind of rubbery texture and it feels just great on the hand I mean this thing is anti slippy anti-slip it's just great and at the feeling it's not it's not too thick it's not too thin the handle it's actually very comfortable something else that I like about it the guard is not oversized it's the perfect size and you don't have that typical guard that comes right up to here and on your typical you know k-bar knives I find that annoying especially if your baton Ying or you know but the guard on it is great you know this thing even though it's thin here

I still believe it's going to baton very well very well what else could I say about this the handle well I like they've flattened both sides here see it now that's just great I like the flat grind too nice flat nice flat angle on the blade I am sure that this would make a good hunting knife you know for skinning got yourself a good grip you can skin even you know preparing your game like butchering it or deboning it this flat surface here we go great have nice control over it also you have it on the other side if you need to make some power cuts you know

I know this this design is is very nice I like it I'm sure it's going to perform well I mean k-bar has been there for if I read correctly was 1898 so you know it's not yesterday and it's a ten ninety five blade so 1095 carbon steel is good nice and just by the looks of it this thing could you know probably go underwater maybe that's why it's so secure I don't know but the guy had an idea and that's why it's there I just didn't find out yet I mean everything Oh another thing excellent is your drain hole look how big that is like it underwater I'm pretty sure I mean the only thing that you need to take care of is the exposed bottom here better than that this epoxy coated black stuff is it's supposed to be a lot better than what they had before that's what they say anyway all right you know this I think would be an excellent all-around bushcraft knife and could be actually a very good backup knife too and I think I'm going to have this as a backup you know you can put it in your pack tuck it in somewhere or if you you've got Molly straps and all that stuff you can you know tie it up securely on your bag one last thing if I was able to make some modifications on this knife now I'm not saying this to destroy the design as excellent but you know it's preference me personally the first thing I would keep the same thickness of blade right to the end but I know this is going to tough it because I mean there's hundreds of people out there that have K bars and just whack the living daylights out of it and you know it's it's tough but me personally I would keep it thick right up to the end something else I would take this off completely this tie down here okay I I mean it's pretty it's to my to me it's really useless this is tucked in there safely with the Kydex rigger magic here and plus you have this other security at the top because if you want to deploy this you need it fast I mean you're gonna have to one two three I might even take it off myself I don't know but first thing would be the blade second thing I take this off and completely and if I could I would mold myself you know nicely not not a big bulk mow myself a fire steel or ferrous iam rod holster you know like the size of the Swedish army one so I could you know have it close to me on the sheath you know mold a nice not too thick so it'd be very effective also if you notice at the back see the dead space here I mean this goes against your body if you wear normally so it's dead space what I would do is make myself another another mold right inside the lashing to put my these for sharpening stone now if all that could be in it to me would be a pretty perfect knife I'd have the knife I'd have the fire and my sharpening stone for the knife all in one one set and you know surprisingly this is not too heavy so anyway Christmas gift first k-bar knife I love it love it very much all right let's test this guy a bit see how it's going to perform on that dead piece of frozen hardwood I'm not trying to make feather sticks I just want to see how the blade bites into the woods it's actually pretty good nice curls now keep in mind that this is frozen hardwood it's a little bit more difficult that's why I made a test on this usually in the winter time I wouldn't need to do this I mean you've got you know mix forests here so I just use your normal twigs but I still wanted to

nice control yeah sky performs very nicely it's pretty good hold this better way anyway I like it I like it a little tip ah what I do to take care of my carbon steel blades instead of you know taking some oil I'm going to use like this one here is not much just this that's exposed I'm going to use I use some Vaseline its petroleum based and you know it sticks more to the blade it doesn't you know oil just sleek all over the place and at the same time well you have vessel Vaseline on your blade so if ever you need for some reason to get that fire going well you have just enough to get it going that's just a little a little more but anyway Vaseline works great but guys make sure your blade is always dry especially in the wintertime what I do let's say I go out come back home I unpack any any tool that I have I will just you know look you know we'll just leave it in the house if it has a sheath I'll take the sheets out and I'm going to wait because metal becomes cold and if you if you put it back if you leave it in the sheath you know what heat and cold does condensation so you let you live to your blades or all your metal pieces access saws exposed you know in the house in a secure place obviously and wait till this I'll leave it for a couple of hours until the blade becomes room temperature then after that I could put just a little layer of Vaseline and just put it back in my sheet all right so that's it for this video thanks for watching
