so today I'm going to show you a simple way of putting up a pole without any cordage

okay so putting up a poll you know to set up for natural shelter lean-to or if you have a tarp different setups you want to do obviously the first thing is to get a pole now I didn't have to show that one but one important one is you're going to need to why branches like this on each end now one thing I have to mention is if you can get a why stick that is a center as much as possible now this one is not completely center but the branch is way bigger so this is still going to be solid if for example where could I show you an example if you let's say the you know the piece of wood continues and you want to get a piece of wood this way where the branch is really thin and sticking out I would avoid this because this will not be a strong you know this is overkill because there's small branch but you know what I mean and of course it's not always possible to find a perfect stick so find what you can as long as it's strong and solid you'll be good to go so there are a couple of ways that this can be done obviously after finding your stick your why stick on the point both ends you know so it stays solid in the ground one way

be to bring it in here and keep it up but obviously this way your stick is going to be in the way of your shelter now you can bring it in the back like this but because it's in the back I can't put my Y perfectly so there's a danger that this may twist and fall and plus that stick could be in the way another way is to put it in front which is very good it's solid that way the stick could be in the way of your shelter though you know it's a possibility and if you're doing something heavy if it goes that way it could fall if ever you made a mistake but if you don't it's very solid i'll show you the a better way is to put in the exterior here now like this the stick is not in the way my shelter flamenco lean do just need to cut these two it's solid going down it's solid going this way and solid going that way alright so like this going down this is not moving it's secured right and of course it can go that way because the tree is holding it and it can't come this way and though I move it hard the trees moving it's secured by this branch here so this I'm not going to say it's the best way of doing it but it's a good way of doing it you can do it the way that you want you know it depends and of course what you do want to do these things in the wilderness nothing is perfect this is between the tree is the size of the trees the size of the why sometimes it's not wide enough you know you have to compromise so I'm just giving you a tip of one of the best way that I do it to hold a pole without any cordage now if ever these two little ones here are sticking out too much let's say you didn't calculate the distance between the the two trees right and your tarp feels like touching it you know you just cut it up here and cut it up here as long as it's in the middle there

it's

well nothing like being home now it's just a just a little tarp shelter but I'm protected from the wind because it is kind of windy at times and the snow which is a huge deal you can hear it it's almost like freezing rain anyway by the way the tarp I know people be asking this is an old DD tarp I've had for both at least five years it's a 10 by 10 i was able even though there's snow the ground is not completely frozen yet so i was pretty blessed i was able to still stake the four corners down that's cool ok so anyway hope you enjoyed this little video when you have a chance go out and try it it's a lot of fun right now it's time to warm myself up and you know what's going to happen next right but I will not be making a fire this time

okay so as I wait for my coffee or the water to get hot I'm going to terminate this video but what's kind of cool especially when you're in a little it's not a big storm but and you make your little tiny shelter just inside I mean there's no sound whatsoever just a little click click click click on the tarp the wind is not strong right now that's like you're in your little world it's really refreshing and especially when you have a coffee so anyway i hope this little idea helped some of you until the next video
