hey folks well today we're going to be climbing a mountain called radar Mountain I've done a video about this quite a few years ago so maybe you've seen it if you have just don't watch it if you haven't it's pretty interesting because at the top there's a military base an abandoned military base that was built in 1954 and was occupied for about ten years until 1964 it was there for the Cold War and all that good stuff and I was wanting to come back here because it's a nice hike the mountain is not too high it's just about it's over 2,000 some feet in all it's about four kilometers we'll be hiking going in and back so it's not so bad but I wanted to especially show you not too much of the history because I'm not a history buff but talk to you about that particular place that's called radar Mountain and it's placed there because we're about 70 kilometres from Quebec City south of Quebec City about well southeast so it was a great advantage point because it was the highest peak from here to Quebec there's absolutely it's all flat so if we would have been invaded by the Russians obviously they would have came from the northwest and being that they installed that bunker up there they would have seen any plane coming in so anyway I'll try and show you different stuff we'll try and go in the bunker if it's if we're able if it's open also it's not just the base it's the whole mountain that was used by the military there's secret tunnels everywhere that we're not allowed to go into because it's probably too dangerous I was probably for them too an option to escape if anything would happen even at the bottom of the base here there used to be a restaurant for them and anyway all kinds of stuff so if I find anything interesting as we go up open the camera again

if not we'll see you guys at the top [Music]

okay so this mountain has been bought by many people many groups and to try and make something out of it and nothing really seemed to work and now there's this owner or owners that have had this right no how many years and they've made it out of a recreational type thing you can come here and just do your normal camping with a tent there RVs you can rent a yurt you can rent also I think some cabins I'm not too sure and take a break here because we have a nice hill to climb also they have all kinds of activities I know that they have a horseback type of deal their journey you can take for a couple days maybe a week and camp out they also have a for you guys that like to what do you call that with four-wheel drives there's an area where you can climb the mountain I've come here since I was a teenager when there was nobody here and we just do whatever we want and I climbed that area with a four-wheeler four-wheel drive and it's a rock face it's pretty cool of course you have to take a lot of air out of your tires but it's doable and today there's a whole bunch we saw at the bottom there I guess there's a run going up whole bunch of Jeeps

so if of course we won't be able to see it because the rock face is in the woods it's an old ski Alpine Skiing type trail and of course there's winter activities all kinds of stuff so I'm happy about that that it's geared towards wilderness right here there's still the remnants of an old bread oven pretty cool

Jose you can take a look inside and don't remember putting a bread here he doesn't smell red folks and I know what's going on people are not doing their job early in the morning should be smoking not too much so far but no I think something beans to it okay so here's the bunker right at the top of course I wish I'd have a drone I could show you an air view of it would be a lot better that's what it is we'll go inside in a little while I'll show you kind of spooky is not much to see but a sort of interest behind me of course it's higher than I am and you can't really see much of anything with this camera but you can understand why they chose this place I mean you see a lot of sky Quebec City is around there it's about 70 kilometers from here it's northeast from this mountain during the day you can't see it but during the night you can see the lights of the city but you can see that they would have came from the nares of the bunker abandoned bunker let's start going in okay was that supposed to be scary okay so it's changed in the sense that they've cleaned this place and they've added lights which is good because we used to come in here and we needed flashlights wow they have cleaned this place look at that it's pretty incredible actually

so you can see it has one two levels all made of cement okay how much to see here you know they've cleaned it so much that it's not even fun anymore but of course it's not dangerous to walk I mean you couldn't even see where you're going there are so much debris and stuff the cement would start falling from the ceiling and the voice echoes okay let's go see this part here I know where this leads and then we'll go upstairs oh it's all secret I don't know I'm not looking for the tunnels this is nothing short than a horror movie mushrooms I'm gonna find mushrooms and cement okay so this is hey can you hear that what is that somebody knocking just me okay so this is I have no idea what this is but it's round as you can see I wish they'd have some more information into what this is or was used to and you see the inside here there's a drain but it doesn't seem to be working

somebody came and painted some stuff that's nice painting okay so I have no idea what this is it's too bad I wish I could tell you guys but I know it's round and they have these flat walls kind of strange well maybe you guys I know there's a lot of military people watching this some veterans maybe have an idea what this could have been for I have no idea maybe it's a secret [Music]

hooray imagine these this place had no lights anywhere it was pitch dark even during the day there's hardly any windows well there's no windows just a few openings that I will show you can't tell you the exact size of this place but it's pretty big so you have one window there how big this is at the top one over there that's it the bunker here's a secret compartment locked and lots of pigeons they blocked I mean nothing can come in the other place but it's too bad because what I wanted to show you is from that circle and there too that's where you really see where where they were looking at or towards the area I don't know if I can zoom in okay anyway that's pretty much where they would be looking for planes in the other area too yeah okay so that's pretty much no I got nothing for you pigeon okay that's enough of this tour sorry I thought it would be more exciting than this so my adventure Explorer are you ready to go out of the bunker okay so this is the trail a rock face where we used to come up with our four-wheel drives and there's a bunch of jeeps and all kinds of trucks coming up so maybe we'll wait for them oh there's a partner over there and film them as they come up why not I've got a beautiful view in another mountain right in front of me beautiful scenery I'm in no rush it could be interesting [Music]

but I just remember that so they do come up the road I thought they'd come up they came up from another row but they're gonna go down this one now this one does it look so bad it's the bottom part that's really you got to be careful going down it's not so bad but they'll be coming back up this afternoon but I won't be here so too bad [Applause]

ok so I was really wanting to show you I was hoping I was on the right trail but I wasn't it's always nice to see him coming up but anyway you still got to see something different it's kind of fun actually when you do those things but I'm not to the extreme type but I still like to climb mountains or used to now I do it more with my feet so ok now we're heading back down the mountain and well ok so I hope you enjoyed this little video of all kinds of things that don't make any sense but hopefully you still liked it thanks for watching [Music]
