well good day folks micron bushcraft Barton's she is a wet one today looks like it's going to continue so what I'm going to do is remember that tarp setup I showed you now where I Josie and I camped last overnighter well I talked to you about another way of setting it up you can use it with an open fire and that's what I'm going to do today and I just want to do this quickly before it starts raining again so no man the deer are traveling it's getting colder that's good so let me find a spot so we can settle down if ever rains again all right so I think I found the spot for us today obviously check nothing's going to fall on her head even during the day now I've got two trees one here this one here that I'm going to use and I'm going to you know set the tarp and the fire is going to be here I've got plenty of dead wood and even though it's been raining a lot what's cool about like the balsam fir in front of us you've got some nice fat dead branches and so it should start up and I've got my tinder I've got two yellow birch is right here and plenty plenty plenty of firewood so I guess this will be the perfect spot okay real quickly and I'll show this in another video but so you want to set up your tarp that's the front end expand the wings and then you got the back so what you want to do is stake the back let's take one side and before you stake this side here determine the middle point where you going to want to pull this okay now you just use a rock try and find something that's round not to you know puncture a hole in your tarp or if you know you're going to be doing this before you come out bring something from home that's nice and round now how I determine where to put it I try and follow the point right and in between the two wings I will bring it a little bit lower than the two wings but of course you know it all depends on personal preference

so now after that's done you can tie up your nose the tree as high as you can as high as you want but you're going to have to make some adjustments you're going to have to bring in your wings according to the height but at least everything is you know it gives you a general idea then you'll bring up your back end so let's do that now okay so I forgot to mention once your tarp is laid out like this it's there to help you find this middle point that you were where you want to put it now what you do to determine the height of your nose is you're going to keep the back end you know staked in you're going to take both sides there and bring this guy up and then adjust accordingly okay so right now my nose end is up my back-end in the middle of the tarp there I understood I still have a stake behind now all I need to do is to adjust my wings and it will be pretty much done okay so it's that simple it doesn't take much time and she's done and my nose is high enough for me to sit comfortably behind there and to have myself a fire right here where we'll be somewhat protected from the wood about two feet away from me the height of the nose right now is four and a half to five feet so it's perfect if you keep your fire you know not a huge bonfire and if I would be staying the night both sides there I would stake them down to make it airtight like over here I need to do is bring this guy down and would be airtight so once you got the main things done there's a few adjustments but it makes an easy simple shelter that is covered on three sides behind both sides and now with my nose up I can make a simple fire which is next on my list you

okay

ah well can't ask for better setup right now it's just a little bit of work firewood is always the worst but once you're done then you can relax enjoy the scenery even though it rains keep your firewood close it starts raining I'll bring it inside nice little place here plenty for what I want to do today my water is not too close to the fire because I'm not quite ready for a coffee yet maybe in half an hour all I want to do now is just be still and enjoy my fire enjoy God's creation and that's it but this simple tarp setup if you've never done it once you get used to it you'll do it like that it's not complicated and when you use it like this for a fire obviously you can you know make if it's a cold night you can make your heat reflector and because it's closed on three sides two sides in the back it'll keep the heat in a little bit more than your normal link to and obviously very important remember not to put the nose directly in the wind make sure you understand the wind direction during that day for the fire - you want it to be parallel to the fire right now it's going just a little bit that way so no smoke on me when you saw me use with Josie the one with no fire what I usually do is I keep this low as this off you know to try and keep as much heat as I can and my head is going to be that way

that's why I took the time to lift up another point because over two to have enough room for two heads because being in an airtight pocket over there and not having a fire will keep our bodies warm a lot longer if we're exposed here but in another case like right now this captures the heat if I would sleep with a fire like that this time

my head would be here close to the fire my body temperature core temperature is going to be nice and warm and it's going to be a wonderful night now you want to stay at two to three feet away obviously four to five feet high four feet high with this type of fire no problem so I just wanted to share this with you guys and hope you're going to try it hey maybe that could be your next thing when you go out in the woods and you can do different things with it too you know you can get your own if you want well let me tell you something guys ah I forgot my cooks off for my coffee and then I saying oh no what am I going to do so just a little tip always make sure you have some kind of container attached to your pag you know even if it's something you don't use every time you come out you always have something you know among other important things so I was not going to leave without having my coffee for sure and worse scenario well I've always got the kettle I would a drink with that but of course I would have to wait till it's cools down a bit but anyway just a little tip make sure you always have a container very very important for coffee and it's starting to drizzle right now but I'm comfortable and it's not raining enough to even bother the fire the water is being evaporated as it comes down so it's just perfect timing

good big leaf there hmm okay so now is really time to do some relaxing okay one last little thing well always seems to be lost little things with me right but you know when you do these videos you don't start writing down what you're going to say or do you just go and do it but what important thing also why I use this set up with a fire in front my head being here instead of back there is sometimes even though your predominant wind goes a certain way doesn't mean that it's not going to change during the night so if it does and it decides to go into your shelter because the two sides are airtight and the back it's going to capture some smoke at the end there and you don't want your head over there because you're going to wake up coughing and choking so that's another reason why I put my head here now this should be all hopefully got it relaxed now thanks for watching hey didn't you say that was enough well you know guys I can't let you go without the coffee I know you guys are love to see coffee because you're like me you love to drink it ah ha ha so here goes try not to dump it up the other side oh look at that beautiful color of course if you drink it black it won't be good for you

so I don't need too much this is a big cup so it's going to show like I don't have much but this usually fills up my cup saw

okay I'll save the rest a little bit later all right this is it for real
