I'm out again a little bit on the hunt and I just wanted to this bird they just got I don't think I've had such a hard pursuit in a while been tracking this bird for at least half an hour very smart always knowing where I was going but this time I got him hey I just wanted to share this with you guys take a little bit shot it there a head shot especially with these birds you want to get a head shot because you want any lead in the meat in the chest area actually pretty nice birds lovely color feathers and stuff all right I'm going to process this guy and stop babbling well I need to take by myself a place to to rest not my best shape so don't want to overdo it so find myself a little place guys and I'll talk to you guys later right well guys just resting out a little bit

k minding this morning I didn't wasn't planning on bringing the camera don't always bring it because you know when you hunt that camera can be in the way this morning and I'll bring I don't even know why I'm making this video but anyway it's okay right to sometimes to have nothing special in the video no teaching know this babbling this just a little this hemlock behind me you see these bumps burrows whatever you want to call sometimes it's hard to find resin know like like on the pine these big clumps of resin like on the pine it's hard to find them on hemlocks but when you see these big bugs here just check under the under them I checked under a few of them and I found some very nice big pieces like this it's a beautiful day it's uh the fifth of November just about ten o'clock I'm resting right now and I'm going to hunt for maybe a couple more hours 1 hour 1 hour by myself a place and have a bite to eat ok a little tree identification especially for John if you're watching concerning birch trees sometimes the birch bark will not be easy to see you know it doesn't peel off you don't see anything and a lot of people mistake it for a poplar tree sometimes birch trees are almost bare this time of the year when you're there's no more leaves it's a little bit harder to identify but i'll give you just you know one little tip here that will help you identify birch tree even though there's no more leaves and even though there's no birch bark to take off ok very simple so this is you know you don't see any bark peeling off anywhere there's no more leaves some people would mistake this as a poplar tree or trees let's get a little closer and I'll show you something here now one thing that is you see there it's bare but one thing that you want to see on a birch tree is very simple you're going to have all these little horizontal lines everywhere okay all these little horizontal lines everywhere now me find you now this is a bursary that you know does have you can peel look at the inside of it it's the same identification okay except it's inside the bark it's also visible on the outside but this would be the outside of that tree over there that we just saw right that would identify it as a birch tree if I peel this off here again you got the lines horizontal lines so even though a tree is bear if you want identify it between a poplar and a birch tree look at these horizontal lines again you see it inside here let's take a look at it poplar tree there's a poplar tree here there's a poplar tree over there alright or aspen populus now if you get closer now from far it looks like there's horizontal lines like the birch right but actually there's not all right there's no horizontal lines at all it's just you know like the wood wood growth here

it's very easy you can't really go wrong there's another poplar tree see over here from here if you look real close you think that these are popular trees too because there's no evidence of birch bark but actually they are birch bark let's check it out see you again these little horizontal lines and I don't see in the camera but they're all like grooved in like a knife would you know just came and cut them now if you take your knife slowly and you you just take it off it's going to peel just like the birch bark you won't have much very thin but it's gonna work all right so anyway I hope this helped you a little bit John anybody else out there concerning birch trees I don't really know why there are some that probably another kind of birch over here we have the white birch yellow birch silver birch but anyway that's my tip for the day on trees the same time today I'm scouting out for a place for my deer hunt next year I didn't have time this year that's too busy and i found an obvious almost a perfect place actually let me show you a second what i'm wanting to show turn this around this is a very obvious sign of deer passage right here lots and lots of tracks

whole bunch of tracks full of tracks going that way now this tells me this is not the odd deer that passes here this is one of their trails and what I like is that I'm close to a river little creek

and this little creek is going to work for him he's going to cover my sound if ever I make any noise and I'm looking at that tree right there put myself a tree stand up there I know we'll see my scent will be covered I'm up high a sound this should be perfect and as I can see dear going that way like this so go in that way and I'm here let me give you a going in that direction my tree stand is here well this gives me a perfect shot in the kill zone you know buying the leg the heart you know where the kill zone is lugs so I'm really thinking about this this could be it yeah well keep on scouting no speaking out birch bark would then use this today thus far what you see behind me something I started but I didn't have time to continue just running out of time

basically I want to use that

create shelter

s one thing guys and you're out in the woods keep an eye open

on stuff that's already made for you could be a fallen down tree could be beginning of a cave whatever help you with your shelter so you can save energy this one here well just didn't have time to finish it I'm a little bit chilled that's all right it's just my cold this fire going there Oh

just get in the black birch bark

I love this stuff this fire is going to feel good guys I use these types of shelters under screws tree or balsam fir luck the winter shelter let's I go out Ruby don't feel like building myself a shelter that's what I'm going to find myself do the fire under it and most were the wood where the Sun wasn't aiming he got dead wood in there that's where I get all my wood here just take care of my father and

it's pretty neat i don't have to go far to get some wood already there I don't know if I'm going to finish it this year but I may come you know drinking the winner check it out well that certainly feels good even though I feel like crap there's nothing like good fire well while my meal is cooking show you the last result of my spoon so what it looks like now that's the last spoon I carved

nice colors and this is a white cedar now why I done it brought a home and I i sanded it down I'll better for the mouth and for you guys that are just starting to maybe make these spoons well I done my homework and the thing that I like the best and the easiest concerning oiling this thing there is mineral oil it won't leave your you know your spoon rancid and stuff that's safe what you do is you put one nice coat and you wait you put three coats first time and you dry up and you're all set and then depending on how much you use this it's about once a month and keep it in a dry place alright so that will probably be it guys for this video hope you enjoyed it and you guys takecare appreciate your support this is microphone bushcraft buttons bye
