by folk so we're back in the woods hopefully we will have a relaxing and nice evening now to find a spot [Music]

all right so I choose this spot right here

doesn't need to be fancy hopefully

hopefully this thing is gonna hold me fill a couple of times right in the dark because of this guy make sure your seat well make sure all of its secure but your seat is don't rain

okay all right let's see so far so good I hear some cracking crack cracked I check the pieces real quick but make sure everything's solid don't do like me and go fast and fall I don't know I don't know yeah the last time I was in the dark and drawing my fire all of a sudden this horizontal piece here just broke and I string that spook video so I just fell right - it's a good thing there's no rocks underneath but anyway make sure we do these chairs that are solid

yeah it's raining not a downpour but I was hoping on a quiet cool now now it's really falling okay I need to find some kind of cover you hear it okay I need to find a tree I didn't bring it tarp yeah yeah don't tell me you should always bring a tarp you're right

but I didn't I wasn't supposed to be like this so I'm hoping it's gonna change it was just cloudy forgive me for that beautiful sound of a plane it always gets in my videos I need to find some tinder keep it dry there we go [Music]

put this in yeah yeah if you're looking for me you won't find me haha you know you really have to joke with these planes cuz you know you guys making videos always pass they always pass you want to make a nice clean video with absolutely no noise just the sounds of nature well you got to be in the you know North Pole maybe for that to happen and even then I'm sure a plane is gonna pass by well the plane is gone it's stopped raining praise the Lord back to your regular program first thing you do when you find a campsite is just sit down and relax with your pockets full of tinder and hope that someone's gonna come and start your fire make your coffee cook your meal yep right now I am relaxing it's too early get a fire going but pretty soon as the coffee is gonna be calling me so I'm a little damp that fire is gonna drive me up pretty quick when I do start it so for now I need to gather some wood well look at that folks the Sun wants to pop through what a blessing

time for a little break get some water out so yep Sun is out stuff is gonna dry Cheers

and though I'm in the woods I still have a nice nice of you in front of me I'm still gonna get Oh blue skies Wow oh man I'm blessed so anyway I'm gonna get some more wood and we'll get a fire going a little bit later and have a coffee and have a meal always happy to have you around or not around but anyway looking straight at me it's kind of cool pretty cool I can see anything coming anything does come remember the last time there's a moose that came about 100 feet I stopped it I was able to film it that female was a female it's pretty cool yeah quite a lot of leaves still in the trees but pretty soon they'll all be gone

all right so kidding aside I was actually planning on spending the night but I changed my mind just because it's not cold enough yet and the reason why is ticks now this is just in case you're not aware of it and I'm not going to explain everything about ticks there's good information a little bit everywhere you just you know research it you know I've been playing in the woods for close to 40 years now yeah I'm that old I never crossed my mind once about ticks until a couple years back and even then I didn't really care until I got back from the gathering the Nova Scotia gathering there's this lady that really spoke about ticks and opened up my mind because there's so much more than Lyme disease there's all kinds of ticks there's all kinds of diseases and it can make you really sick I've got a good friend you know who you are who's really sick right now because of multiple bites or something so it's something to consider and to really you know put in your mind to not prepare yourself but make sure that when you go in the woods and you're in a tick infested area

prevent prevention is the key and I'm the type of guy that really likes to you know just sleep on the ground in front of a fire and I was planning on doing that but it's still you know I'm not gonna do it until it freezes I didn't feel like sleeping in a tent so I'm just gonna spend the evening here part of the night just the other day when I made the video on I think it was David's knife yeah David's knife and the bacon sandwich it was a warm day and I was in pretty high brush I was protected you know right up to my arms and I actually got bit by a deer tick it was a in the nymph stage baby stage but that's how high they are I mean there's lots of deer here so I imagine that they wouldn't he crossed probably in the brush there somewhere one fell off the deers neck or ear or head or whatever and grabbed the branch and waited for me to pass because you know I didn't lay it down on the on the ground or anything like that and I was protected everywhere but it bit me right on the arm here when they saw it so I just took it out and again there's all kinds of things that I thought we had to do like twisting it the best thing is just take it right out as quick as you can before it you know it knows that you're touching it so it doesn't throw up it's poison in your blood system now it's not all ticks that contain or have that disease or any type of disease now I was blessed because I mean I got that little hole and it swelled up now that's maybe two three weeks ago or more but a couple of days after that there's usually there's a rash if there's any kind of disease anyway I'm fine I know it can come out you know a couple of weeks after you've been bitten or something like that I don't recall but I just want to tell you guys to be preventive when you go in the woods and you like to sleep in front you know on the ground just be careful and especially if there's a lot of take stop walking you know barefoot or you're in your shorts right in the middle of the woods I mean if there's a trail it's fine I mean it's your health and these disease can be pretty nasty and any way it can I can't find the word but this lady had Lyme disease and it was passed on to daughter all that kind of stuff so just be preventive when you come in the woods now and even here I didn't believe there were even even ticks you know I live in a place where it's pretty cold in the wintertime but our summers are getting weirder like the summers are getting like let's say our winters are getting longer

you know usually a month of Maine is where it we have spring but it's still very cold and September starts to get cool but this September now we're gonna told her this September was really hot so it's a strange I don't know if this affects more tics but where I live I found two ticks of my cat that never happened in two different ticks so that just opened up my eyes and if you don't believe in ticks well I just wanted to say you know believe in them cuz they're there unless you're you know in a place where it's always yeah it's freezing so just be aware of that protect yourself and you know wear light clothing

light-colored clothing so you can easily see them if they are on you but anyway hopefully this October is gonna freeze and I'll be able to spend some nights out here because it is what I prefer is to just laid out in front of a nice warm fire but these sticks around I just don't trust them I don't trust you know we could get in my sleeping bag get into your ears your eyes you should have seen the pictures that she had that was really overwhelming mistakes the kinds of things I hope this not too windy you can still hear me anyway I'm competing against the wind the ball right dogs of war it's windy all right be careful out there and you have nothing to prove okay if you need to sleep in a tent sleep in a tent

if you

love hammocks hammocks is the way to go don't go on the ground until it's frozen then there's the other extreme don't let the tick stop you from coming out here okay there's just be preventive and be careful put a lot of stuff with DEET when it's hot but don't let them stop you from coming out here okay all right is it time for coffee

man I I'm almost tempted let me think about it one of my favorite ways of getting a fire going I'm not gonna say primitively but if you back up a hundred years maybe is a flint and steel just because it's a lot of fun of course you know lighters and matches are the way to go but in fair rods but when it comes to you know more old ways of getting a fire going primitive no I'm not gonna call this primitive but flint and steel is what I like I just love it and I've owned quite a few flint and steel kits in my day and most of them they were all good I just gave him away you know he try something else and try is this set up in that setup and I ended up with this one which is the one that I'm I'm always going to keep for many reasons just because it's got sentimental values and also it's a great kit so I'm not gonna need any more kits I just want to show you this one it's a friend of mine Josh

he makes leather he that made in Canada let me get his dirty leather so I was check him out in Canada his dirty leather probably calm or something he made this for me a couple of years back I guess and he made it more personal bushcraft barton's and I love this because it's very lightweight and it's well-made very strong and it's thin I mean you have this on your belt and you really a no-joke you really don't feel that it's there so you put a little bit of a pharisee route there so let me show you that's one of the reasons because it's sentimental a friend made it for me and what he uses the famous Hudson Bay tin is somewhere else great little tin I just put some rubber bands just to make sure it stays close not that it needs it but it's extra fire burns well it's got a magnifying glass here if ever you need it for fire or for me these are my bushcraft glasses okay so let me just take this off I'll show you something else okay so now inside this there's always a little nice piece of leather I don't know if it's always there I know if Josh put it but it's nice to have for many reasons now the steel okay Peter la Paix done this for me I wanted something pretty you know kind of epic dragon like I know Viking I guess we're a bunch of kids when it comes to that and I showed him what I wanted and he done it perfectly and not just the shape of it there's his logo not just the shape of it but I wanted it the right size so it could go in my tin so give you a little look closer or a closer look really cool nice and comfortable in the hands and obviously I have my Flint I have char cloth so that's all I got in here and that's how we're going to start our fire tonight see I don't even need the rubber bands it's just in case alright so while I'm at it might as well get rid of this too and plus it passes the time I got myself another toy and a flashlight no not another flashlight yes a flashlight now I've never shown this company before it's klaris it's made in the US and I'm a big fan of klaris actually my very first flashlight that had 18650 batteries was a klaris I can't remember the name of it but that thing came with me everywhere even on all my trips to Haiti I mean it went through everything in and it was always on standby and worked great I loved it and it was like 860 lumens and that thing would really light up I mean there's something they have or something with their designs it makes a great spot and at the same time well it gives you a little bit of nice flood as well but before I decided to I gave it away I think I can't remember anyway so I waited for something that was rechargeable and of course now they have all kinds of rechargeable ones but one with the same size rechargeable but a little stronger

we always like stronger so I just want to show you this one it's called D and if you can read that clerics XT 11g T and it's about the same size as my other one I would say about not even six inches it's really it's all high quality and you don't need to go into the specs of this thing it's got a bezel that comes off stainless steel you know you can have it as a normal flashlight but it's rechargeable yes its rechargeable and it's 2000 lumens which I find which I wanted anyway well that's what they say mm and what I like is their design where they have two switches in the back now this thing you know what I'm gonna do I'm not gonna go through all the specs because I don't even know them I didn't bring anything I'm just gonna leave the link to where I got it I found pretty good at a pretty good price at banggood.com we're leave the link and the they show nice pictures because you've got three settings you could put it like tactical setting outdoor setting hunting setting I don't know but it just changes the modes on your flashlight to where you'd want them to be so this link there will will bring you to all those pictures and you know it's on a cheap flashlight I can't remember I think it was around maybe maybe $80 or something around that area anyway I've got it on how it comes I think it's tactical where this one here this this back switch goes right on turbo and this one here goes right on

your SOS not SOS strobe and you know it's easy to find the difference between the two when you have you can either you know have it sideways or up and down depending on which you know how you're comfortable with it now I can light her up here and I change the modes with this one here and you know it's got three modes very simple I love that I close it or you have a side switch or you have a little bit one more mode I think I can also double click get the strobe double click and get SOS and you hold it to close it okay if I hold it you get right away the big guy anyway but one thing I just noticed is it's not fully charged ah I just saw the yellow button I forgot to recharge it because I want to test it and you know in the field I'm gonna we're gonna hike back up to the field and test this thing so and see because if it's not fully charged usually you don't get the you know how really the maximum output of this thing I think anyway but we'll find out we'll find out I just hope that it's at its satisfactory but usually klaris doesn't disappoint the sheath the sheath is they became cheap with the sheath they used to have a nice nylon a nice thick nylon now it's a little bit cheap II but you know still works so tonight we'll test this out now I won't show in the camera but I know that in these woods it gets dark pretty quick so I have about two and a half hours left so I'm going to slowly boil my water and have a coffee then add a little bit of more wood I have myself some nice coals a nice fire we're gonna cook something and by then already it should start getting dark I love it when it starts getting dark so stay tuned so I will show the coffee because when I don't I get scolded oh nice

okay and wait till that cools down keep this closer there's still some more for another cup Cheers looking for maybe another walking stick you know when you take a piece of green wood you find a nice piece of green wood and you take the bark off and stuff the dry one thing that a lot of people don't know if you do take a piece of green wood for your walking stick make sure you wait a year or so before you take the bark off you don't have to do that but if you do it it will darken the wood naturally but sometimes you find something dry like this okay that's dead and it has all kinds of shapes and colors and I'm going to play around with it just want to see me a second there you can see in this camera it's got all kinds of shapes I'm not sure about the inside now this side here is nice but of course I'm gonna you know take maybe here

let's see I'm gonna take it right here a little bit longer than I'd like oh yeah it's solid I mean it's nice and solid I mean it's got some spots there a I'm gonna have to take off okay I'm going to slowly play around with it and see what this could look like as they walk in sick or a future walking stick anyway this hoping I want to be careful and take anything that's oh yeah there's some Spaulding here very slow

see if I'm careful and they take away the rotting

that's some nice balling right there if you can see that you'll carefully clean it some more I'll show you a little bit see that's all-natural so once you clean it up and then bring it home let it really cure give it a nice sanding I'm just some linseed oil or something you'll have yourself a nice natural walking stick with all kinds of colors in it

okay so

that's pretty much it mm-hmm of course the smoke is going you know the wind is crazy there's no way to go no place to be knowing all kinds of ways but anyway I left it this way okay now I left the bottom part I didn't touch it just because it's not the that's not the bark it's the wood itself but it's you know it's naturally like that so I kept it this way you've got a natural let's say patina

but yeah then they done the top top part that's some beautiful little lines and just to make it quick there so you'll get bored look at the get that here look at those line it's like a map Spaulding they're like that and it's all around

even have some at the end here map those right up to there Thank You smoke anyway so imagine once I get this dry it out do a little bit of work on it still and then sand it nice and smooth and just give it a couple of coats of linseed oil call it all its falling and all the natural curves and colors will just come out of it nice and yeah I think I'll be happy with it I like this part here too I'll leave it like that all right so there you go Oh another walking stick didn't really work too hard but yeah I'm going to let it cure and it's pretty dry but it's a little bit wetter places sand it off oil it should be good to go okay so the Sun is going down real quick why are we having marinated steak not steak again oh yes now why are you putting this in a cold pan you should never put steak in a cold pan well I am take this out just because it's in a cold pan that's not gonna cook I know the Pens supposed to be nice and hot but this thing here becomes pretty hot pretty quick so take a look at that folks

yummy of course it is and let's see her cook

sizzling already yeah Oh Kerry so this is done this is tender I'll just cut them in the vital pieces or mouth of all pieces I don't know anything

smoke yeah and its juices I didn't leave it too long so it's nice and tender thank you Jesus bless this in my body oh boy

yeah

mmm

good stuff folks [Music]

did someone say desert I heard you of course there's desert homemade chewy delicious brownies hmm come to Daddy right nice so far you can't really say yet it's not the perfect night to test because the air is full humidity but we're gonna try something else

Oh follow that fly let's go and hike up to the field it'll probably not be the best but we'll see better okay I'll give you another view this is about 300 feet from the woods look at that man no problems of course you see that moisture the air is really not nice but this thing is just amazing really cool see that like that how clear it is well it's us clear way up and the trees over there it's just that the camera's not picking it up it's picking up the moisture more than anything else right on laris it did it again super and so for sure this is going to become my main outdoor flashlight not an EDC but my main outdoor flashlight I just love it and again I'm gonna leave the links if you want to take a look at it for ateb and good comm you know just they got nicer pictures and what I showed you anyway so I'm heading back the evening is going to be mine because I'm gonna close the camera right now so I can have some alone time so thanks for watching and don't forget to enjoy the wilderness this is my chrome for sure parts bye [Music]
