okay so welcome to a another video from bushcraft

Martin's this one's a little different I've been asked through the years to show my gear there are like millions of videos about that and you know what I've never done it show the gear when I go out on you know short-term trips like three four days in the six years I've been on YouTube I've actually never done this so I was getting ready for a actually canoe trip which is about three to four days and I said okay why not show them quickly so my stuff now a lot of these things you've seen before so I won't be new to you shelter right here two men tent you've seen that that's pretty new to the family it's the Euro hike backpacker DLX I'll be my shelter my backpack you know this one as well Sabre 45 from Karrimor I've had three four trips short trips with this bag and so far I have no complaints whatsoever now because I am going on a canoe trip what's neat about Karrimor is that they do sell dry bags to go with their bags now this one here is for the main pouch and you have two smaller ones for the two pouches on the side because everything that is going in my pack will stay dry no matter what happens and that is something that is very important to me same for backpacking which don't do much like big hikes and that my back and all kinds of stuff I can't do it but I'll still bring you know the dry bags just in case they don't weigh that much more okay so the food back here now I'm not going to go through all the food I've got some mountain house beef jerky got these Quaker things breakfast really nutritional Granberry Alan's got some for breakfast coffee cookies all kinds of good stuff okay that's four by three or four days I'm fine with that and that's going to go in one of the pouches on the side with my cook kit here and my alcohol I can do both I can go under the fire or I have a little tranquila this is fairly new as well I'm going to do a different video for this one some of these days I haven't used it much just once but I wanted something lightweight as much as I can I'm not a lightweight backpacker as you can see but if I can take off some weight I will and this one is good for two persons or two people so my wife and I this is our cook kit for it's enough ok so this goes with the tent there groundsheet you know they're protected therm-a-rest here sleeping bag sleeping bag is outbound it's good for a maximum of +7 or 45 and Fahrenheit I've got here in a dry bag all of my spare clothes toilet paper I've got a hat also because you know even though we're in the summertime almost or we are it can still get cold in Canada at night so I do always carry a hat t-shirts underwear socks and I have some long johns here long drum kits I'm not those big thick ones for winter but that's like my kind of pajamas to go to bed because you know I want just one thing to go to bed always clean you clean yourself up and you always wear the same thing so that's what I do anyway I'm using this bag here from Malcolm this is going to be my camera kit gear now of course the cameras right there you're looking at me but you know spare batteries and stuff my what do you call it power packs in here and all that stuff and what's cool about this bag it's a dry it's like a dry bag so instead of taking the air out you leave a little bit in it and it acts as a cushion so there is something that bags are whatever it will protect it okay so I have my Bible here rank it rank it and medical kit those two are always at the top of the bag or any pack that I have easy to get just in case I have a little fishing kit here because I will be doing some fishing hopefully now you don't see fishing rod air I forgot to bring it but I have a cheap old fishing rod over here I have my water filtration system and here I have the Sawyer with the 2 liter pouch there that small one that comes with the Sawyer is is worthless so love that and I got a bottle here exactly for that for my clean water and this bottle is by oh2 Lola is what it says anyway over here and this pouch is my hygiene I got soap and he also have medication in here for all kinds of problems you may have heartburn

diarrhea headaches whatever everything's in this pouch that pouch over here is my light I got a flashlight a headlamp and spare batteries I have the map of the area now usually I could bring a compass or GPS but this time I won't really need it because I know the place very well but I'll bring a compass anyway just in case over here I have some bank line now this will go on my side pocket okay always for some reason you always seem to need some bank line and they don't won't have to go in my pack but this will people in my pockets some what do you call this bug repellent very important pair of gloves and wallet keys and phone will go in this waterproof bag here that I keep on my side pocket my cargo pants that always stays with me for tools I have a knife the knife I use when I go play in the water is the tk2 this one we all live in anyway 3G anyways it's a stainless steel but a tough one and I have my backhoe I have the one handed treasure by Victorinox for cutting tool and extra just in case and for fire I have a fare rod and a lighter so wow that was pretty quick I think I have everything now other stuff always see is the right clothes I'm gonna have my Crocs because I find it comfortable around camp always having your boots or whatever you wear that will be hooked on the side and also my hat another hat that I usually bring so that's it what I'll do I'll I need to pack it anyway so I'll show you once it's all packed alright so threw in the dry dry bag in here

of course it's bigger than the main pack what you want so what I usually do the first thing is my spare clothes so that's the least right now that I'm going to need and I'm gonna throw this guy in sideways like this ok this here now I know you're gonna find this big but I need this it's a pillow and I have my shemagh in here too that always wrap around my pillow to make it more comfortable and if I need the shemagh for whatever reason I have it okay we're doing good

next sleeping bag put it up right this side cuz once my Tet tent to set up I'm going to need these two therm-a-rest and tent right at the top okay what I do is I pull this make sure that it's all in there still got plenty of room in the main main compartment so because of it I'm going to add something else

sometimes at night can be chilly so I'm going to add a hoodie there we go I have to tell you I love this pack okay so the top or the main pack is done mostly my sleep system and all that good stuff okay so I almost forgot my tarp here round cheese which I will slide right in the back still room in here just close that end right there there okay we'll ask your broom same thing goes here closer up still have some room in there but you're just four days don't need more I'm gonna cinch that down a little bit later and now I don't need it okay second for my cook sauce all these there all right let's unhook this then the other one that's going to go in here anything that has to do with my book system that's gonna be first see there's plenty of room on that side so I'm going to throw in my alcohol fill that gap there's place behind the alcohol yeah okay so I'm going to throw in

cleaning

right there then I'm going to throw in this this I keep at the end top because water is always important okay all right this is going to be on me so I don't need to put this the bag this is all going to be on me Wow plenty of room left okay the gloves Bible and that's on me as well so filter system

the bottle is is hooked they on the bag I need my water he's the accent so that's at the top to ease it again if I get the need of water so let me pull this out Oh plenty of more room in here okay let me just add for something that put the camera back in here that's gonna be perfect okay snap this back together here

try not to make a long vigil at this was quite impossible if you're still watching you're brave okay so at the top here have a pocket here right there yes easy to get quickly and I'm going to put this little fishing kit waterproof now but it still takes still got a lot of room the rest I mean I'm done the rest is on my my person so okay so let's move all this out of the way now I'm going to put my tent which goes on the top here and the rain jacket will go up here your helps show that later let's put the tent so what I did instead of you're using the bungees I don't need it for this trip I just put you know two straps to keep my tent secure of course I could have used Malcolm's but I'm gonna save those for something else so just put the front end and back in bring it back keep these tucked in Hunter we got the right height first yeah that's like you have against yeah I'm definitely gonna change these straps the next time so what I do next is I use the top see this see the bungee cord here I'll use the bottom one secure the top this okay so I got the bottom string of the bungee cord and then my rain gear I'll just throw it in under completely have the same three strings holding it nice and tight and there just tighten it that's not going anywhere

so now all I need to do is to compress these

let's see maybe there you go she's done so there she is folks already packed to go now I the weight of the pack and its content is exactly 30 pounds so that's not bad and plus it's a canoe trip so I got my little water bottle as I said here there that's without the water being filled up that's it the rest of the stuff here will be on my person at all times now I know everybody has their own methods of packing their bags so this is how I pack mine for this particular trip and you know what from spring to early fall it's the same thing it doesn't change except maybe more food less food different food maybe different tools but in general it's going to be the same thing so hope you enjoyed this little video because it's probably the first and last that you will see of this haha you guys take care this is microplush wrap parties bye
