today we're gonna make a fire pit at this location all right remember shelters over there over here I need to build a type of fire pit and build it with rocks it's because the land here is full of you know moss and your typical roots so I want to build something you don't want to make a fire when you got this kind of a ground not to start any fire underground add my other campsite over there the ground was nice and packed dirt no problem but here I'm gonna build you know just your normal pit out of rocks now I'm not going to show everything cause I got to work at it but I can tell you what I'm gonna do first I'm going to take off this layer of moss and I'm not gonna dig any deeper there's no use because I know that this ground is like this all the way through so there's no use doing that I'm gonna dig all around here get the moss and any exposed root I'm going to cut and make my pit then I'm gonna find some gravel by the creek put myself a little layer of gravel and you know build my pit with rocks so as soon as it's done I'll show you by the way this is gonna be just you know a little small cooking place or just to enjoy a small fire so I'm gonna be a big thing I got that over there well you can't see it right now because of the snow but I got enough place there for a nice big fire and as you can see the snow is really going down down now really nicely all right she's done now it's nothing fancy doesn't need to be fancy in the woods

this way

I won't be afraid of fire just a pile of rocks one on top of the other nothing to it

don't need to be an artist at all whatsoever all you need to do is play with a few rocks pile them move them around until they fit the shape you want until you're satisfied now it's about old give or take a foot high you know right from the inside is a little a little not as high a mean just you know save on some coals make sure the coals are not going over the size and at the same time if I want to keep some coals well I'll have them so very simple fireplace

anyway it's a lot better than right on this ground something else you know why I put this big flat rock right in the middle there hmm what did I do with that I wonder

I'm sure some of you already know have guessed it and even if you tell me the answer I won't tell you not to reveal the answer to the people who are curious to see what I can use this for but just keep your minds working a little bit until I make that video another little tip that I completely forgot to tell you concerning when you store your dry wood you know as branches as you saw I think it's important so I'm going to show you now you see this pile which is all some good dry wood that I collected from cleaning up this dry wood is not on the ground now I know if you'll see this here see if I can see that tree going this way that ok that's a dead tree with a whole bunch of branches that's pointing that way like this ok now I just put that as a kind of a platform because your branches will hook on anything and I just started piling on top and on top of it on top on top this way even though it rains you know I'm talking about normal rain I'm not talking about flood rains for a week even the next day you know at nighttime this is going to be dry because it's high it's off the ground there's a lot of air flow in between because guys if you you know pile some wood right on the ground and pack one on top of the other the wood at the bottom if it rains quite a bit is gonna stay damp and wet and that what do you call it anyways that moisture that does come out when it does start to finally dry it and go up in the rest your pile anyway your pile is going to stay pretty much wet all the time because there's no air flow going through this way well you're safe so this is a little tip well I was able to do a little bit more cleaning even after doing the fire pit that I was wanting to do so right now I'm sitting on my wilderness camp chair and I'll give you or I'll show you what I see right now which is gonna be part of my campsite so oK you've got the fire pit there that's the cleaning I've done man so clean there they're over here to lift that spruce tree they're cleaned over here and over there got some trees now it's all nice and clear over there I can go the river easily and if I move over here I can see my shelter from here no problems this tree is gonna become nice and big you can breathe now I can see well from here so I think for now for the cleaning it's pretty much done of course man it would be a lot more cleaning if I start looking everywhere but for now this is going to be cooled enough

quite happy with it I know somebody else is going to be happy

you know how ladies are there's more homey

Oh

to show you I almost found the perfect ruck it's almost perfect in diameter you know in the circumference and almost perfect in thickness - pretty cool

now don't ask me what kind of rock this is I'm no rock expert okay all right well thanks for joining me again I know we're staying quite a bit around here at the campsite you know I'm sure you I hope you don't mind quite a bit videos here it's nice to have just one place to go to a lot less expensive on gas that way I can make more videos because it takes less time so again appreciate always your support guys and your comments and appreciate all that

for you

remember the spoon I carved mine had some beautiful grain in it but what do you do find a piece like that this little tip bring whatever's good left from the tree now I didn't do that and it took me an hour to find this specific tree in another woods to find to get it and I want to get because of the grain and with this I'll be able to this piece is a little thin but Josie want a little you know a cooking spoon little longer and thinner you know just to stir the food and with this piece here I'm gonna be able to make a couple of good spoons with these for this so you do find a piece bring the rest home it's better that then you know to let it rot where it is especially when you can do something pretty good
