not too scared are you he's about whoops he's about not more than 10 feet from me could make a meal but I don't need you right now keep getting fat methods of carrying fire you just saw two of my favorite ones that are well pretty much the surf thing you can use cattails and all that good stuff but it's just like your typical torch that you're gonna make out of birch bark it just doesn't last and it's a pain to carry because it's it's difficult because it you know once the fall apart it lasts between 15 and 20 minutes but these two the first one I know most of you are familiar with it the horseshoe fungus

depending on the size that's why I showed you you know many sizes and depending on the quality that stuff is going to last between you know half an hour to two hours and back in the day they would use that and carry you know a few with them this in case they had a longer trick they would lighter and light another one up but to continue the trail now the one with the spruce root and a little hole that's just a method of carrying it and not just carrying it but once in a while as you walk and give it some oxygen to keep it going nice and hot

now that's one excellent way the other way is cedar bark we know that cedar bark is a great pole extender you know when you want to start your bird's nest but it's not just good for that I made a an experiment about I know three four years ago with cedar bark and that's the way they showed you that it will just last

for hours I just had this you know a short piece but if you happen to find a bigger a longer piece I mean it's easy to carry light weight and you just tie it up with some spruce root or whatever you have and that thing you'll keep on going for hours I just love that method as well so anything else I shouldn't be saying about that Oh concerning the the horseshoe fungus now as you saw I took some pieces off of it to put it any birds next that is the simplest way to get your fire going and to use the horseshoe fungus you know and put it against your birds nests and try to it's doable but it's tricky and it's more difficult so if you happen to have that just take pieces off put in your birds nests and blow it into a flame concerning the the cedar well you're gonna have to you know play around with it

it's it takes practice but once you get it no problem it's just a little trickier so I hope you enjoyed those two ways of carrying fire you know I had a lot of fun doing it it was a little bit challenging because I had those two things going at the same time but I had a lot of fun doing thanks for watching this is Mike from bushcraft barks bye oh wait a minute just to show you a little bit that the cedar bark is really working it's been I've put it you know vertically so it's harder to burn vertically and just to see as you've been what four or five minutes maybe and you'll see how much it went down very important that your cedar bark has to be dry so don't go away I'll finish with that
