alright here's a few tips on how you can identify the balsam fir or Douglas fir if you have Douglas fir in your area but we have mainly balsam fir now you've seen all the bubbles on the bark which is easy to identify sometimes they're not that easy to identify like that so you go with the needles and you compare it most of the time there's gonna be spruce around you take the piece off here and let's go to the I'll show you the different by the way guys it actually feels very warm in the hand right now it's pretty cool alright salt one difference you see the balsam fir how there's needles just on both sides of the stem in the middle right look at the spruce it's all around now another way of identifying it if you take the needle off the balsam fir oops you're trying to find you a decent needle there okay it's flat and if you can't really see it with your eyes you can feel with your finger I can't roll it now if I take the Spruce I can see that it's around with my eyes but again if you can't see it you can feel it with your finger it rolls right so that's two tips on how to identify it first the bark you'll see the bubbles if not the needles are just on both sides of the flat of the stem and they're flat compared to the spruce also you are able to find this these bubbles on the white spruce
