what's that beautiful covering that you have there Mike well I'm happy you guys asked let me tell you a little story the other day I was gonna throw out some cargo pants you know they're full of holes and pretty much finished and just before throwing them out I started looking at him and I saw the pockets and I decided cut out the pockets I'd use them he was one anyway to put my books and they got another one that I put my a GSI kettle it works perfect so guys before throwing their cargo pants check the pockets we got different sizes and you know they can be very useful so what take a look at what's in here I'm gonna talk to you guys about a couple of books we just put this a little lower okay I purchased these a couple of weeks ago probably and I must tell you I know you guys know about these these Peterson field guide is this one and this is another one for the trees gold and field guides from Saint Martin's Press but what I like about these books first of all it's the size it's not a hassle to carry I mean this is my hand Hey let's talk about the trees a little bit this is trees North America okay you guys don't know anything about trees excellent book all color tells you the name you got a picture this is the pick nut Hickory and you've got the picture here and what it looks like and it also tells you where it's found in North America wonderful book love it proof and stuff but I want to concentrate a little bit of my time on this one here this one I enjoy it incredibly wild edibles eastern and central North America guys knowledge that's what I meant by the tile you I carry this now in my fact all the time

this is knowledge that is very important to carry with you just talk a little bit about the book it's very neat a couple of things it's easily identified you got symbols okay let me just try to find that

is something very probably won't finally with all the symbols but anyway let's let's check this okay it says stuck the name of the trickery and again you've got what it looks like on this side and you have what you can do with it over here now if you don't know the symbols all you need to do is wait a minute if you don't know the symbols all we need to do is go and see it says use coffee we make coffee with it that's the symbol and the spoon and fork salad and this symbol means cook greens all right it tells you when you can find it early spring fall spring here it tells you everything in a short paragraph that's another thing that I love about this book is that you don't have to read three chapters to know if it's you know a killer or not or if it's where you can find it it's all in small paragraphs compact and you can you know everything is in here now the symbols are pretty simple let me find the one that you have to look for absolutely is this one here now I yeah I'm sure you know what this means okay

don't eat it don't eat it and sometimes there's other stuff always sometimes it says even if it's edible there's a little warning they'll say you know it's best to cook it before you eat it and stuff like that but you know I just started looking through this book and I'm really having fun you've got all kinds of there's recipes in the back and then index it's great it's great now I got this from from Mitch native survival I'm going to leave his his link right below the screen I might also leave his YouTube channel now Mitch is very skilled and I like the way he teaches he's calm and he tells you know takes the time to tell everything to say everything and it's pretty nice pretty neat he's very knowledgeable with wild edibles as well now a couple of things I want to tell you guys about wild edibles what you do identify them don't identify them 90% don't identify them at 95% you have to absolutely be a hundred percent sure before you even eat it and I'm gonna go even deeper in that if you're not used to this at all okay you're a beginner I would go with someone who knows about these wild edibles before even trying to eat anything you know and learn from him bring a book you know it doesn't have to be this one but I find this one pretty neat bring the book still but you know because this is what happened guys there's gonna be a wild edible that is edible and everybody eats it but then you eat it and your body can have a different reaction to it now doesn't mean it's gonna kill you but it could make you sick you may be allergic to it or something that's in it so guys if you're not used to this please go with somebody before you even eat it now another thing that's fun about this that's very exciting every time I bring it

I always try and hunt down some wild edibles try and identify them completely and that could be fun for you guys too I mean parents you've got some kids who are interested in the bush make it a day go out and bring your books and try and find them at night you know you don't have to eat them but at least identify them this is great knowledge to have guys excellent knowledge so what I'm gonna do next I didn't take much time to show the inside of just you know just a little bit because I don't want to take too much footage but this is excellent guys I really now I didn't talk much about the trees here because I know a lot more about the trees than wild edibles that's why I'm more excited here but this is also excellent and he's got another one with medicinal properties of wild edibles plants and stuff which I will be buying pretty soon knowledge that's priceless out here in the bush and this is one domain one part that we absolutely need to know concerning bushcraft so give me a second and I'll give you a little example of this book

okay what you see in front of me right here with the big leaves commonly known as wood metal okay it's the same family as the thing it and it does thing and we'll leave a rash for a while it's very annoying plant it's edible but it's still a sting I'll just what it looks like now the little it's dying there but it gives you an idea see all the stings on that that will leave a rash incredible there's even some under under the leaves everywhere okay now this is the wood metal so let's take a look I want to show you something pretty incredible a little while take the book there's an index in the back right index on the find wood metal just to make sure that it's well identified if I'm not sure right here wood metal 150 page 150 there we go exactly it okay exactly I know I know this plant there but if I take the time to take a look at it let's give me a second

alright see the shape of the leaves if you take time to read it read the description of it look everything so you can identify it you'll be all set now what's neat this is what's neat is that most of the time where there's plants or whatever that can be damaged damageable or poisonous there is the cure or the remedy close to it now right beside it and actually everywhere around here called the spotted touch-me-not okay it's all spotted inside here you can see it spotted touch me on I know it's got a funny name but you can touch it actually it is inedible but what's neat in the leaves and in the stem take a whole bunch of them and you just like any other plant that has some juices oh yeah I don't know if you'll see it anyway I'll just show you the plant there the juices from this plant if I get a nettle sting or anything I'll just put it on top there and that's the remedy and it's actually this plant which looks a lot like the jewel weed I believe is also a remedy for poison ivy so let's take a look at her book again go to the index spotted yes

it's gotta be in here somewhere okay yes yes P oh this one's in color okay you've got in the middle of the book also you've got some some colored ones okay probably the common ones but anyway alright let's take a look at it Paige Paige Paige Paige right here spotted touch-me-not right here

remember the flower I've got a small and girl in here a little bit damaged but anyway this is exactly it see the leaves now if I read what it says the spot it touched me not it says although it makes a fine cook green spotted touch-me-not is best known as a medicine its stems and leaves produce a watery juice that is an extraordinary effective remedy for poison ivy now it doesn't say wood metal but if I this is the color one if I go more in the you know define one there you can't remember the page it explains that it's also a remedy for the wood metal so just a little illustration you know example of what a book can do when you have it and you're not sure this little thing is awesome so thank you Mitch and thank you all for your support and watching this is Mike from Busch out Barton's bye
