when we talk about boiling your water for it to be safe to drink you hear the term wait till it comes to a rolling boil now rolling boil is just in case you don't know it's going to look something like this second I'm going to just a second i'm just gonna move the piece of steak but i didn't want to lose all my water it already came to a boil i'm going to get close to the fire so you guys can see oil fast and soon now that's what we mean by a roiling boil that's what you want right once it gets to that point you can take it right off the fire it's ready okay now let's talk about a few things here the one I lose all my water cuz I'm going to have some coffee now when it comes to a rolling boil like this that means it's at 212 degrees it can't get any part of that right so a rolling boil comes to 212 degrees every known water for diseases you know parasites and stuff will die at 176

the breeze so that's why it as soon as it gets to a rolling boil okay it's safe to drink because it's at 212 now this is for any type of water could be a creek could be a pawn the lake doesn't matter where you are in the world is the same rule of thumb now I know that some of you will say well I go in the creek and it's nice and clear and I drink from it and I'm fine well you're absolutely right pretty much all my life I've done that you know over here in canada we have nice crystal clear rivers and lakes and stuff and especially creek creaks like you just saw i drag some water and i was fine but something happened a few years back actually i got sick twice with Giardia right once here up north and another time overseas in haiti now if you already are here they found living giardia in freezing water I see water like that okay it adapted to the environment sadly but it's still there so it's still dangerous so any type of water even if it looks good don't trust it if you don't have your you know purifying tablets or stuff like that the other means is to boil this water and once against the 212 or the rolling boil it's safe to drink right if you see any particles or stuff like that dead flies or you can filter it first then boil it and it'll be safe to drink and let me tell you you don't want to get sick with Giardia now the one here up north is not as aggressive as the one overseas but it'll still make you really sick and you know I was really close to home I mean I could get back home in the same day and I didn't feel a thing it takes about two or three days and I was sick as a dog and it's not just you know going to the bathroom I won't start you know telling all the symptoms but you want to keep away from that stuff something else you see a nice Creek like this it's clear it's beautiful and you say oh this is safe remember we got to watch not only for parasites like Giardia but ecoli now that river is seen by all the animals that live nearby it could be big game it could be I don't rabbits squirrels stuck birds any type of animal will have to drink you know they're thirsty too so they're going to be drinking in that River also over that Creek now e.coli comes from their poop believe it or not so you never know you know just be safe and boil your water but I just wanted to make this short video you know because there's a lot of people out there that don't go often out and they carry their water all the time and it's you know it's pretty heavy but this way here it's absolutely safe if you boil it at a rolling boil and don't boil it any longer i mean if you want to you can boil it a few minutes more but there's really no use I mean you're going to waste your water and also it will take you more fuel and if you can have something with a cover it's ten times faster all right now there anything else I was wanted to mention about this I guess that's about it right here in the woods we're nice and comfortable I know if we can hear the trees are cracking and all that close to a fire I'm going to have to stoke this up a bit but out there in the field boy it's cool all right time for coffee

little bit here a little bit there wait a little bit here this is going to feel good

well we thank you for joining us in this little video I hope you guys enjoyed it and I hope you learned a few things thanks for watching one last thing I got sick twice that's because I was careless my fault but you don't have to be you can't risk getting sick so boil your water guys does it matter how good the water looks like the only time and i will not boil my water if I find a natural spring if you fire a natural spring no problems natural spring and we found coming out of the ground a rock go ahead drink it straight the best water ever why because it can be polluted because it's coming out of something like the ground or rock and it's flowing all the time so nothing can stay there and it's fresh I remember when I my last house I had I knew about this spring in the woods and I travel get myself some jugs fill him up bring him home put them in the fridge and I'd have some good water to drink you
