well welcome to a nother cold misty fall day now as you can see we had quite a bit of snow that fell about maybe a week ago a little bit every day for a couple of days there was at least close to six inches anyway I was unavailable to film that but still I can still see about four inches at some places it's been raining for like I don't know two three days now temperatures have gone up so hopefully this snow will not stay right away okay anyway as you can see there's an old Sugar Shack in the back of me about a week ago I have a let me go back just in case okay I know there's new subscribers now I make my videos or 60% of my videos on a private owned land about 200 acres that I have permission on so I was talking to the owner of the other day and we started talking about this Shack it's about the first part is about 30 years old

that part over there and this part here is about 20 and has never been used since now it never really interested me until he mentioned that there was a stove in there and I said oh that could be a cool place to come and camp you know during those long cold winter nights with Josie but he says that he doesn't know the state of it so this video is gonna be about that checking it out to see if there's anything we can do to make it safe to spend some winter nights so don't go away okay so first before you've got this building here it's falling apart not too sure what this was for I guess we don't have to play with that whoops okay well I can see some straw an old chair now obviously back in the day they used horses and carry the SAP so this has to be an area for the horses for sure oh yeah there's still some hay hay it's not straw look at this chair wonder how old this chair is it's kind of cool isn't it yeah this has been tied for some reason let's check it out one hand I need a camera person there oh wow look at this there's more hay yeah they used to keep the horses in here for sure still a remnant of horse poop look at this jacket look at this jacket Wow

pretty sure it's been warned by the old owner or actually this Scheck does is he hasn't yet I think somebody else used it in this time but anyway and it's all chewed up because well probably mice and squirrels make their nests up here this is kind of exciting this is fun I love looking at old stuff so this is definitely or was definitely for horses you got a back door here see if we can't find look you probably can't see that but oh I can't see either anyway there's a horseshoe see that the horseshoe is here

they used a horseshoe to latch anyway okay well this is not the part that I'm most interested in I don't know what's up there

just make sure no squirrels jump on me okay so yeah that's pretty cool know where I can get some hay not that I'm gonna need it but it's here it's a nice shelter though excuse your this was all done by an axe really cool these beams okay let's close this they're keep that close now what I'm interested in that we'll go around and we'll start here because this is the part I'm most distant you know we can't use the whole thing because I know if you know about sugar shacks oh there's an old gym in there Oh enough but there's a hornet's nest there probably those Whitehead Hornets black and white I mean yeah that part there was is made for the to boil the sugar water and it's not that part I'm interested in it's mostly this part here now what I was worried most is the I don't know you know through the years birds and squirrels like to build their nests so this is definitely a new section I'm in the old section see that see that tree house chewed up and this just kills the tree that's a porcupine you do that especially drinking that winter and fall there's the woodshed I'm taking my time you guys so I hope you don't find this too boring I want you to check it out at the same time as me hey here aha see that's been chewed I'll probably be porcupine here too has been chewed

oh yeah look you see the porcupine poop right there see that see how it's been chewed okay let's hope there's no porcupines in there oh look at all that wood now by looking at the length the length of the wood this wood was made for for the stove that boils the sweet SAP and not for the stove inside try not to get the camera wet okay so this is kind of dangerous I'll have to take care of that you see some old pans up there this is pretty big there you go so we're gonna go in from there okay so I don't want to destroy anything not that it would really matter but I want to respect he says I could do what I want

you got a really old know what brand it is but anyway we'll try to find another way in

bench okay

this is the front part of it you see the newest part there this is the old part old window and I see a door here that doesn't seem to be locked which is probably our only option so let's try that it's kind of small but we'll see yeah this mess hope there's not too many critters like skunks porcupines time to get out of here this could have been dangerous

yeah

so the part I was interested in is way over there in the kitchen part but sadly it's all open at the top there sorry for so I was hoping to be able to heat just that little part I don't want to have to heat this there's no way you trying to heat this place here and well that's just too bad that's the that's the stove so twisted got the old pans in their buckets and stuff yeah it's been here for a long time folks now I'm not worried about the roof I hope collapsing with the snow that sucked you safe they're not in my eyes anyway I have no weight from foot okay so this is falling down take a look around here look at this beautiful wood obviously all maple

hey those old milk jugs those sell for quite a lot of money now people just paint them decorate them and oh there's your tree things I showed him oh but I can't say it in English okay wooden barrels ladder shovel lots of poop lots of poop you see how they dug in here that's definitely porcupine doesn't seem to be anybody here yet that's the door for her to wit shed yeah well behind the door some things I don't know what it's used for everything must have had its uses a lot of old things in here things I've yet to discover and don't worry I'll pick up my feelings but I know the animals will lead them anyway so yeah I see it an old what do you call that oh my goodness I'm losing my words Lantern no Lantern but it doesn't have the glass any longer still be used but it's not a safe yeah there's a lot more work than I anticipated to be honest it's not that I'm very far this Scheck is not very far from my car maybe a 20-minute walk hike to the dirt road and we're still gonna check the chick the chicken we're gonna check the chickens you want to check the chickens the kitchen part and see how it looks like but it's just too bad that it's opened up there I'm going to lose all my heat unless I rig a tarp because even though I'm not too far it's late in the season to start working at this and you know shutting all that up making it safe and you know having to bring tools and stuff I'm not gonna hike and bring stuff

like that here for sure even though it's just a 20-minute hike in the winter I'll be a little longer though it's too late but we'll still check out that kitchen and see that stove yeah I'm gonna have my Apple birth mm-hmm definitely a lot of animal activity or some old ropes okay I'm gonna have this and then we'll check out the chicken you know the chicken that kitchens carefully head to the kitchen there is the old lantern whatever what make it is so rusted Matt I want to trust that oh my goodness this is so disgusting I don't even know if it's safe to be here look at that

it's full of what is that what in the world there's no dogs around here that's for sure how did or could a coyote come in here I have no idea okay some ropes and pans see that poop on the ground it's full of it look at that oh my gosh

I don't know this is probably not anything safe to breathe in here I need a major cleanup okay so there's the kitchen part rope or uh-oh it is closed in does have a roof okay well that's a good sign

some stove pipes there that look decent ever oh wow okay there's the stove it doesn't look too safe but we'll give it a closer look it's a good size it would be a perfect size

a good cleanup and in Josie have bit cots we could haul that in here but I'm worried about the stove here it's all cracked

I wonder who handled this fire the last time stove what is it on mont maman town oh my gosh Jim VIN that's not good okay let's see the back part which is the part I'm worried the most oh forget it this is I see that it's all rotting in coals will fall out of there like that all in the back this stove is not safe at all not at all it's too bad you can't even open it oh boy somebody make build isness here squirrels squirrels oh it's only lit yeah there's an old saw here I mean it's I'd be afraid to go up there at the top it looks heavy with a lot of nesting but it's a good size though but man

well there's even a little trapdoor here if it gets too fun this high that it goes outside that's kind of cool Hey hmm I'm thinking here man it's too bad little table here in this corner outside shed yeah if it wasn't for this it would be awesome this safe it's dirty anyway it's safe okay let me position that camera out of that window so so so what will I do this this ain't old what is this tin cup okay so the size is perfect it's very very dirty I need to disinfect this place there's poop everywhere there's a lot of work and even you know on the other side I have to clean that too this dough is not gonna work that's the main the main problem because it would be it would be okay it's I mean it's got the perfect size and this waste of time I mean forget trying to get this out of here I need to think of something I don't know I'm not a hundred percent sure you know when we talk about maple syrup Indian Quebec the province of Quebec we're really blessed with sugar maples and you know red maples too there's actually I think close to 20 species of maples that produce maple syrup but there's mainly two that we use here you know each speak each species produce maple syrup but some really produce Italy the sugar maple and the red maple there's also the black maple but mostly it's a sugar maple and red maple and we produce unless the numbers of change in Quebec over 70% of the maple syrup in the whole planet

so we are the main the main main main people that produce it and we've been doing it for years now it's not like this anymore it's a lot of it's an industrialized and they have you know water separators and all that stuff there's a New Brunswick Ontario produce some and of course our neighbors in Maine Vermont but the province of Quebec is really blessed with maple ok my goodness I don't know what to do just cleaning this place up it's not a problem it's the other side man there's like this thick of poop it looks pretty safe I didn't go on the top I'm sure it's full of nest and we'll have I mean once the I once I get this door closed

animals were coming in because this was opened but once we get that closed and actually I need to close everything oh here it is oh wow there's even an old newspaper here wish I could see the date a seal all this up close only so no animals can come in from the pipe which would be mainly squirrels yeah I can't see the date

very old newspaper okay I know I'm rambling right now because I don't really know what to do oh here we go 1990 set 1972 1972 and it's in French yeah

1972 so instead of leaving that camera open so boring for you guys right now I'm gonna think some stuff I do have a stove at home but you know those teepee tent stoves the problem is and I need to make a place for it for the pipe I could use that same hole but it would be way too big Oh should have a mask pretty sure you have never seen this much porcupine oh my gosh even you know under all that the pan is full so sometimes I need I just start working on stuff and it makes me think that that's the other door that we saw at the beginning I opened up anyway not really sure that it's even safe to be here I'm not 100% but I mean the poop is dried up I'm not worried about that but even under the pan it's full of it yeah

tell you one thing and Josie would see this is no way no no way see what she actually can't see this she won't be seen this video wiser guys I need to stop Wow okay cameras crooked I went if I do decide to do something I need to block all those holes coming in here because we're gonna have neighbors in the winter if ever I decided to do something with this it's not looking good to be honest with all that poop and the stove was the main thing but I'm still thinking my bags gonna need a good cleaning not that my bag wasn't already dirty I mean no problem with dirt whatever poop that was in here so straight

[Music]

yeah I still don't I don't know still don't still haven't taken a decision now I have to be honest as I mentioned before seeing all that poop all gallery I mean there's like everywhere Josie is not gonna want to come here stove big problem I mean if I would have if I would have thought of this maybe in the middle of summer or much earlier I mean we're in November now beginning of November winter is about to hit seems like it wants to hit early I mean it's very possible to do something I've even seen you see here these holes that goes right into the other side that would need to be all closed up right to the bottom because the squirrels will come in here when it starts getting really cold and making their nests I mean there's a lot of work I could I could make as I said I have a tepee tent stove at home I could make another little hole here I'm not sure you know this is not mine so you see the thing is I've got all these little problems that could be fixed and we could do something with this I don't want to invest too much number one because it's not mine and number two permissions can be lost the next day so you never know what could happen I mean if this place would have been if just the stove would have been in safe working order I would have said yes I would have started working on walking all these making sure is air tight shut everywhere for the squirrels anyway and make a nice very nice clean up

you know even walking on the other side it's just amazingly so dirty and disgusting and that's too bad so I don't know I think I think I'm gonna put it off I think it looks nice now I mean it's it's clean a little bit it's not disinfected by any means because that stole this full of nests and probably some not just poop but pee from animals and you know I don't know what's been here but for sure and right now it's cold it's not so bad so another factor is I say I would install my stove and put it all nice and once the heat starts coming in here and there's no hasn't been in the heat for 30 years I can't imagine all the smells that would come out of that wood from the pee and pool and so I guess it's gonna be a no no sorry guys I was kind of excited and I was wanting you to be excited with me but I think it's gonna it's gonna be a no-go

just because of that but it was fun look in here wasn't it seeing those old there's right behind the stove you see there there's a big water link for sure from the top there I can see it big water stain line the stove this big so you know it's there's too many insecurities and really unsafe of course could be in a survival situation we'd make it work I'm not in a survival situation so let me get this coffee ready just relax and enjoy my short time here I don't come to this place often so and yeah have myself a coffee

anyway I won't be coming back here I rather other parts of the owners land where I've got some campsites and stuff it was certainly nice to visit and thank you for visiting with me hi I apologize I thought this was gonna be something cool I didn't want to mislead you but we checked it together I wanted to check it together it was exciting but it just there's just too many unsafe stuff you know health-wise and all that so I want to stick to the other parts of this woodland I mean 200 acres is enough where I'm gonna camp where it's fresh air and yeah I don't know I I don't know what my plans are for the winter but hopefully somehow I could get a hot tent they are expensive but hopefully the Lord will provide if not we'll just do the usual that I do it's too bad though I a yeah Canadians say a here in Quebec we don't say a cor this French but I'll say a cause I'm a Silicon a DNA yeah you know what I like about I love these old rustic colors that time and water create and Sun beautiful after leave for for about a week or not close to a week from the 9th to 13th I'll be back on the 14th so I'll try to answer emails and stuff but if you don't get a hold of me I'll try and you know get a hold of you when I come back if I can't where I'm going I'm going to Kapusta Singh I know there's a lot of you to know where that is it's Northern Ontario about 13 hour drive north west from here it's on it's church business so I'm I won't be spending any time outdoors but when I come back we will continue this lovely adventure of being in the woods and enjoying ourselves okay I'm not talking anymore thank you for your patience thank you for everything you do for this channel I really appreciate that bye
