Hello my name is Lilly and I am making videos about primitive living skills, survival, bushcraft, camping gear and prepping. I consider myself being a modern hunter-gatherer who wants to live as close as possible with mother nature and right now I am in the process of learning how to live off the land and thrive in the wilderness. Thanks for watching ~ Survival Lilly

today's video is going to be about Faro sticks stay tuned hi my name is survivor Lily and today's video is going to be about Pharaoh sticks Pharaoh sticks can be important when you don't find tinder in nature because it's raining too much or because you didn't bring your tinder with you and Pharaoh sticks are some sort of last resort when it comes to tinder so there are three important things when it comes to 36 first of all you need some wood which is not too hard this here is Bruce wood which has a medium hardness very hard wood like for example beech wood is no good for having pharaoh sticks okay for cutting you need a very sharp knife so that's the second important thing when it comes to carving pharaoh sticks and the next thing is that you want to find some wood which is dry so you don't want to cut down green wood or wood that is lying around on the ground because it's going to be very wet so you have to take wood which comes from a dead standing tree okay first I'm turning the words to a smaller size okay now before we start carving the fastest I going to resharpen my plate a little bit because as I said before it's very important that your knife is very sharp the finer the cutting edge of the knife the final the fantastics are going to be so if you are looking for sharpening stone I do recommend the sharpening stone by Falcon even it's the dc4 and I think it's the best sharpening stone you can get it has our diamond side and a ceramic side so that's awesome and it's not very expensive and you can get your knives razor sharp with it okay now I'm taking my belt and put it around the tree here because I want to strap my knife with the belt with the leather belt so I always recommend to were met about because then you can use it for sharpening your knives and getting your nice razor sharp with this that's good enough now okay now let's start Ferris ticking so I'm taking my knife and a piece of wood and then I gonna go for the cornice afterwards don't go for the plains the first technique that I used was this one I just went down the wood like this I was holding the knife horizontally so these shavings here pretty fine but there's a way how to get even final shavings now I want to explain a different technique to you which works best for me so I'm taking my knife and I don't set it horizontally on the wood but in an anger I'm pointing down the tip and then I set it on the wood like at the very front here and while I go down I make a cutting motion a forward motion and this way I think that life makes even finer feathers so it works just like that see if this technique you get very fine feathers now it's time to light up the photo stick and I'm going to use a fire steel for it
