Hi, my name is Lilly and I like spending time in nature to practice my survival and bushcraft skills. This is a holistic survival channel which means that besides wilderness survival I also do modern survival videos. Sometimes I use modern tools which people might have at hand in a real survival situation. Also all of my videos are pre-recorded, which mean that they do not get released immediately after I film then. That is why seasons in the video can differ from actual seasons. Thanks for watching ~ Survival Lilly

hi guys my name is Lily and today I would like to paint another cage trap and this year was my last one it was actually the first one that I built and yeah it was not too bad but actually I'm not very happy with this trap here because as you can see it's so flexible and it moves around a lot and actually I believe that if a name an animal is strong it can get out of here or out of here and escape so but I really believe that it's better to make a cage trap with thicker sticks and also if you are using thinner sticks you have to do a lot of you know tying making knots like hundreds of knots and this trap took me like two days to make and for survival situation that's too long so my goal for today is that I want to make a trap which is more stable which doesn't need so much time to make and which is escape-proof for animals at least that's the plan so what I have brought today are these bamboo sticks here and as you can see they are much thicker than the other ones here and they are much more stable so I believe that the next trap is going to be much more stable and better ok now I want to use these green sticks here for the new trap and I'm just going to take my folding saw and cut them off so I just want to measure how long the old trap was and yeah I want to build it quite thick okay so as you can see I have brought some quarters with me today this is some leather strips that I have got left at home but you can easily make natural cordage as well and I have a video on that on my channel check it out at the link below in the description okay this is the last week that I'm going to lay on my cage and next I'm going to make the roof and I don't think that I need to go any higher because all of the smaller animals have enough of space in here you can trap backs fastened and a lot of other smaller animals as well so this is it for the height

so just to give you a size comparison this was the first trip that I made it's pretty unstable but this will still do a good job for very small animals and small birds for example but still I wanted to make a trap which is a little bit more stable and heavier so that the animal can't lift up the trap and yeah it might happen that the animal moves around the trap like this but still for me it's heavy to lift the trap so a back or a pheasant or maybe a small Fox definitely won't break out of this trap here the next thing that I want to do now is I have to carve a trigger mechanism

well gasps it took me some time to set up the trap it's very sensible because the trap is not so stable it's moving all the time and as you can see I've taken a long a stick which goes to the middle of the trap and this is important because you don't want to have the bait outside of the trap so that animal should be right here when the trap closes yeah folks this is how to make a cage trap pretty easy stuff you just needs a little bit of karate or maybe some nails and a little bit of time and this can definitely catch medium-sized game that's even a fox I believe porcupine everything so the figure four tentacle trap is not too bad but you can also make her Paiute deadfall trap mechanism there's one thing missing which is the paid so basically when you have some page you lay it on a stick here at the end so that the animal has to go inside of the trap and then it tries to get off the bait and then it's trapped so this was how to make a cage trap pretty easy and simple I want to thank you for watching please don't forget to subscribe to my channel and hit the notification bell
